Red Silk Carpet magazine would like to take the opportunity to have you share with our readers about PARAISO which currently has released by HBO worldwide. • Who is your inspiration?
About Actors actually not just one, but several: Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Leonardo Di Caprio, Ridley Scott, and Martin Scorsese think are the most important, but also Park Chan Wook (director of Old Boy) Bong Joon-Ho (Director of PARASITE, SNOW PIERCER...) • Who is your favourite actor? Actress?
Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep • What got you into acting?
Well, I’m South Korean adopted at the age of three months old by an Italian family. Since I was 5 till my 16s, we moved abroad cause my father’s job, and lived in
several world’s States (Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Austria etc...). I begun acting just for fun as a little kid, cause at that time in Saudi Arabia. The Italian American Community we lived in organized leisure activities including Theatre for kids. Well, actually at the beginning I didn’t like it as I didn’t have a good memory. But things changed when I discovered the improvisation which gave me the possibility of not having rules. After a few years I attended a real Drama Academy dreaming to become a good actor, but was just a game for me, my way to escape from reality. Unfortunately, when we decided to settle permanently in Italy, my problems started as at that time I was one of the few Asian faces in all Country and I started being bullied. I suffered a lot for that bad situation till when I realized acting could be my salvation. My dream became to prove © Red Silk Carpet December 2021
that I could play any role, but those times were hard and even though I found an Agent, they constantly offered me small and very stereotyped roles. After my graduation I moved to Los Angeles attending a Drama Academy and after three years I flew to New York but September 11th, 2001, was around the corner and after that accident I was forced getting back to Italy where, meanwhile, situation in terms of Society and Industry wasn’t changed that much. I got some small roles, but promptly of the stupid poor Chinese as they didn’t even know who Koreans were. Today many things have changed in Italian Society, but Cinema Industry is still awfully provincial, Asians are still Chinese, owners of some Chinese restaurants, with very small roles and negative (when not pathetic) of course, same thing for African Italians even
though we are now on the Second Generation. For that reason, I mainly work for foreign Productions as Spanish, English or American. In U.S. certain stereotypes persist as well though. Most of Asian Actors plays on martial arts roles. I’ve never seen an intense love story (thriller, sci-fi doesn’t matter) with an Asian Actor charming, fascinating, and an African American. Actress for instance, while could be very innovative. Next step of Industries all around the world will be to represent multiethnicity, into stories in which anyone can really identify. Paradoxically I’d like to give my contribute to Italian Industry as well on this process of Entertainment Industry Internalization as a big part of myself feels to be Italian. I’m sure new generation of Producers and Directors will soon support me.
• What is your creative process like?

In the past I approached, studied, and experienced several acting methods, but soon I realized the best school was getting practical experience on set and on stage. So unconsciously I created my personal style according to the role. I know it may sound weird, but my touchstones were always Caucasian Actors, so I realize that my expressions, my gestures, are all typically Caucasians on an Asian features. For example, I played on a couple of Italian feature films speaking perfectly in Neapolitan or in Sicilian. Other times with a Milanese accent and this, as I said, requires also very particular movements, expressions to result realistic avoiding to “mimic.”
• What do you feel has

been your greatest accomplishment?
Never giving up and not having listened to my father who wanted for me a regular job and a regular life. • What do you like doing in your spare time?
I love the mountains, and every time I have a rest, I usually reach a farmhouse in a middle of the nature spending a week walking, reading, listening to music.
• What is one message you would give to your fans?
My goal is the same, showing I’m a good Actor able to play any role without stupid stereotypes. I wish audience could identify with me not thinking I am Asian, but I’m the Character and I’ll put all my energy to improve pursuing this target.
• What has been your best/worst day on set?
I was in Nepal (Kathmandu) shooting a film, and after an 8-hour journey on a van in the middle of nothing under 42°C, we got the location. After getting dressed ready for shooting we were informed that shootings were temporarily suspended cause the pandemic was dramatically increasing and I should return to Italy within 24 hours. You can imagine the panic and what happened after that news. The best one was on set of THE VATICAN by Ridley Scott. I was chosen for the role of a priest on the main cast and that day I met all the actors as Kyle Chandler, Rebecca Ferguson, Bruno Ganz, Ewen Bremnan. With Ridley Scott we did a rehearsal all together sitting on a big table. Ridley treated me the same as the other, all the time. I spent a month on that set meeting Ridley daily who directed me in a
way I’ll never forget. • Do you speak any other languages?
Yes, Italian and French • Where would you like to visit?
Several places, like Australia, Canada, Norway, Japan • What is the most interesting role you have played to date?
I got about forty feature films on my background, but the most interesting role was Zhou of course, in PARAISO (which means Paradise). This is a Spanish Sci-Fi TV Show. Spanish Production, Spanish Director, Spanish cast, and crew. I never thought I could get that role, because I didn’t know not even a word in Spanish, moreover there were five other Asian candidates for the role, born in Spain, and in any case were Actors Spanish mother tongue. I discovered this small detail just once in Madrid for the live © Red Silk Carpet December 2021
audition, (as previously I sent a self-tape did with a help of a Spanish friend of mine). I suddenly was so discouraged. But as my usual I did the best I could, thinking that at worst I had taken a free trip to Spain where I’ve never been before. There was an English translator to communicate to the director fortunately, I did my audition ending with their usual words “Thanks, we’ll let you know.” After a month I was confirmed. Three intense months of studying my Spanish lines were waiting for me. Set in the 90s, Zhou, my character, is a nice and kind lieutenant of a special investigation police team who arrives in a small village to investigate the disappearance of three little girls. It will soon be discovered that Zhou is an immortal struggling in a dimension between living’s world and dead’s one.

Viann Aquino, the owner of the brand, is an expert designer with much experience in the fashion industry.
“I spent a great part of my life working and designing for varied brands until I decided to create my own company, and it is a decision that changed my life forever. To be honest, this was not something that I expected, but I’m so glad about the life that I had. my soul to express all words that vocabulary cannot explain. I love to think that I'm an artist and I love to see my client's faces when they see my creations,” Viann said in an interview.
Viann is certainly an artist. People wearing her designs are destined to feel like royalty.
Viann’s gowns are rich with exquisite details, gorgeous glittering jewels, and lavish laces. Viewers are sure to fall in love with each elegant design.
“I wanted to demonstrate the ability of women to do whatever we want. I like a short quote that an Argentine musician said, ‘you deserve what you dream of.’ I created this collection because my mom died last year because of the Covid-19 disease and she always taught me to work hard and to make all my dreams come true,” Viann said.
Viann’k Mansur is definitely making dreams come to life. Her designs are fit for a royal princess, and they represent the dream dresses of many women from across the globe.
When asked what she hopes audiences will take away from viewing her collection, Viann responded, “I can answer this question with three words ‘nothing is impossible.’ If you dream it, you can do it. George the Jeweler dazzled audiences with his fantastic fine jewelry collection. With trendy designs that can stand the test of time, George the Jeweler’s collection presents some of the most exquisite jewelry pieces to be seen on the runway.
“My brand, George the jeweler, is a trendy yet classic fine jewelry line that is affordable and available to everyone. It is the result of all my experience growing up in the jewelry business and my creativity.
My work is worn and loved by celebrities all over the world and I am fortunate enough to be working at the forefront where I have the ability to set trends,” George Khalife, the founder of the brand, said. George’s trends are certainly worth following. His gorgeous designs can add a touch of fine class to any outfit. I listen to what they want, consider the current trends, put my twist on it and create,” George said. Clients love the beautiful custom pieces George creates. Known for his amazing work and kind heart, George has become the go to jeweler for many celebrities.
George’s thoughtfulness certainly shines through. When asked what he hopes viewers will take away from watching his collection,
George responded, “I hope that they see that no matter where you are or what you're doing, if you work hard, you can get your work and name out there. I do all of my work out of Detroit, Michigan and was able to make my way to the top and get my work seen and worn by people everywhere. I hope to inspire other designers and artists trying to make it to stay focused and not be discouraged.” On October 2nd, George showcased his presentation on International Digital Fashion Week along
with several designers from around the globe. When asked what he enjoys most about participating in IDFW, George said, “I love designing the pieces, obviously. Another favorite is going through all of the videos and seeing what everyone else is doing.”
