It has been a little over 2 years since our beautiful journey as Amore'

Beautiful You Salon began. We have taken many turns, spent time in some valleys, and learned some valuable knowledge along the way. The salon was birthed through a childhood dream and a calling from God I felt strongly within my heart. Many women have visited and left, thinking a little differently. Some have come in broken, sick, and found healing and hope. While others were facing the toughest trials of their lives and just felt supported in those moments of uncertainty. We have truly been given a gift. As hairdressers, we have the ability to build self-esteem, restore what many women feel is gone forever, and just perk up a gloomy day or week. Our image is so important. The very reason I wanted to do something different. Part of a mission statement is; inspiring women to dig deeper. We believe true

beauty starts within. How we see ourselves is a direct connection to what we carry within our hearts. Most women struggle with inner woundings, silent illnesses, substance or sexual abuse, low selfesteem, stress, and worry they aren't ever going to measure up. Ads, commercials, and Hollywood has taught us to put some lipstick on the mess, and no one will know. To truly empower one another, we need to get into those hidden areas (especially those we want no one to see).

There is such a story within each and every scar we bear.

Your testimony comes to life; full of power and purpose when you share it with those around you. Someone needs to know all you have gone through, so they see the light within their struggle. The salon is set this July to be paid in full. We spent the first 9 © Red Silk Carpet March 2022

months with the wrong number on the sign, and as we all know, 2020's Coronavirus left the beauty industry nonessential, and our once filled chairs sat empty.

God told me an in 2019, our salon's debt would be paid by the end of year 3. To say my faith has been tested in this area is an understatement... I know our guests faced tests of their own through this season as well. It was once said to me, "anything not growing is dead." I have strived since then to see areas I was stagnant in and push myself beyond it. So far, it's paid off. Within a typical day of business, we have witnessed stories of babies coming back to life after they were stillborn, women praying through assault, asking for miracles, families reconnected, Repressed memories returning so they could be talked through. Many discovered the loss of their own identities and reconnected with themselves.

We have witnessed single moms who were homeless find housing and received 1st and last month's rent to move as a gift, as well as everything needed to make that house a home. Various illnesses healed within our walls. The unbeliever found hope in a very real God and a sisterhood that has developed outside of the salon that binds each one together. The greatest gift we have been given while we walk the planet is one another. It keeps life interesting. I found if I'm present in each moment, even if it seems impossible, change still occurs. So why not try? Small steps forward a re better than no steps at all, right?

Today the opening of the 74th Edition, I will tell you what the Cannes Film Festival means to me...

the reality of the world. Poetic sometimes, often harsh, comfortably installed in the shelter of its tumult.

Tonight, on the Croisette.

Mirror magnifying and informing of the world. A world whose shadows and wounds this festival highlights while not being a paradox, it keeps us so far away from it, with this insolently insomniac Croisette where an eccentric and voluble fauna comes close.

For this new Edition, moving with memories, since my first Cannes Film Festival more than 20 years ago to this passion for cinema that animated me since childhood). Tonight, for this new Edition deliciously inextricable whose borders are delimited by the borders of a city called Cannes which, for twelve days, becomes the center of the world. Or at least gives us the disturbing illusion. Because there beats the exalted and insatiable heart of cinema suddenly omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent even. Days and nights, reality and fiction are mixed and confused. To travel motionlessly in the cinematography's of the whole world, to look at

In Cannes, we are all spoiled and capricious children who forget the next day, who forget that everything must end one day. That life cannot be a party and a show and a story and an endless night. cinema, fortunately. Effervescent Cannes that is drunk with whispers and gray with fleeting lights. Cannes where dreams stumble, where projects are sketched out, where careers fly away. Sometimes also break, where films dazzle you, where looks sparkle, where filmmakers emerge, reveal themselves to the world, reveal a wonderful world to us. I was very happy for all this work that allowed me to receive two awards, 2019 and 2021, voted the best Photographer of the Year in the USA with two Golden Statuettes. Who is your inspiration?

My inspiration is my parents who traveled through three different countries to come to the United States. They supported each other no matter what financial hardship they endured. They came from nothing to building a company in Crestwood. My music teacher is someone who really inspired me as well. Mr. Mac who encouraged me to play piano. He believed in me more than any teacher. Once I played and mastered my first song in his presence. He passed away the next following week. Ever since I have dedicated myself to the fine arts. Who is your favorite Actor? Actress?

My favorite actor is Leonardo Di Caprio, Denzel Washington, Jim Carry, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Sofía Vergara, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett

Johansson, John Clude Van Dam, Arnold Schwarzenegger. What got you into acting?

I was networking with other actresses from Disney. One of the actress’s posted about an emergency audition because the person was in a car accident. So, I took the opportunity to submit my audition video to a production company. I ended up getting the role for the lovable guy for a short film called “Once Upon a Pirate” directed by Ronald Hanson. I later received a bigger role as “Max” in the film called “Filmmakers” which received the “Bud Holland Award” at the Laughlin International Film Festival.

One door led to another. What is your creative process like?

My creative process starts with creating an original piece of music. With

My greatest accomplishment has been founding Crestwood Auto Auction with my father with the help of Mayor Presta. It has built my confidence and inspiration.

I also pursued to become an Auctioneer and have been trained by world champions such as Paul C Behr and John Nicholls. With company funds I was able to invest into a music studio to work on my creativity and acting.

What do you like doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I like to work on Architectural designs for real life projects. I produce original music and have been playing piano for 25 years. I also play guitar and am a sound engineer. I am a photographer and have been collaborating with a few models to enhance my skills.

I have written a comedy movie script and looking to produce and direct my first film soon. Networking with people to gather a cast. My original music is also on amazon prime, apple music, and other music platforms. Are you single?

loyal, creative, intelligent, and inspirational woman. I see woman from all ethnic backgrounds to be beautiful in their own ways. Where do you see yourself in ten years?

I see myself producing films more efficiently and finding singers, rappers, and other musicians to collaborate with.

What has been the ultimate experience so far while being on the voice?

history in the UK is a very proud moment for me.

Being the first and only Chinese person ever to get through to the competition in its 9 years

audience of approx. 13 million viewers, 2000 seated audience, performing, and meeting all four judges, and meeting other amazing talents who are now my friends.

pandemic changed your singing career?

My career is delayed, but all will happen in good time.

Covid-19 has been a challenging time for the whole world, It may affect my music career in the near future with further delays, but it will not stop me from my progression. As long as I am willing to work, my family and I will survive.

When Covid-19 is over, I wish to go to Chicago and watch the Bulls play and go to all the Jazz bars, Jazz Showcase, and

BLUES club’s.

How has the COVID pandemic changed your singing career?

I have just graduated from (ACM) university this year. My career is delayed, but all will happen in good time. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

How many instruments do you play?

Not counting my voice, two instruments. I am currently learning the bass guitar and have played the Erhu (Chinese Violin) for more than 20 years.

Red Silk Carpet magazine had the opportunity to interview Harley Wallen, and his beautiful wife Kaiti Wallen. What do we do in our spare time???… what’s spare time? Kidding, kind of anyway but yes, we are big on family so we’re mostly a family unit with a lot of what we do with young kids ages 7 and 9 but we are both travelers, both appreciate good food, good music, good art and we like to try new things. Hiking has become something we’ve both gotten into, and we both blame Runyon Canyon in Hollywood for that but we’re also happy as beach bums on any given day or on a horseback or a dance floor, we try and live and enjoy life best we can. We got into this business independently of each other, Kaiti was young with an older sister making the decision to get into film and film school and she ended up getting into a few different parts behind

and in front of the camera but after her sister moved away and not much of an independent film scene around Michigan she focused on her education and modeling instead until she met Harley. Harley was a little performer from the getgo with martial arts and break dancing on a high level he found himself on a syndicated TV show in his birth country of Sweden “Solstollarna” and got himself bit by the acting bug and that was the primary reason for his move to the US. As far as favorites I think they tend to vary and there are many inspirations but a few that come to mind for Harley are Robert DeNiro, Charlize Theron, Bill Murray, Denzel Washington, Jody Foster, Al Pacino, and Juliette

Lewis. Some of Kaiti’s biggest influences are Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Joaquin Phoenix, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Dustin Hoffman and according to Kaiti no list of actors is complete without Meryl Streep! As far as most interesting character it’s almost like asking for favorite child but some characters that stick out and if given the opportunity, we’d play again are most definitely both of our characters in our TV Series “Tale of Tails” they are both a blast to dig into! Kaiti also would love to sequel “Eternal Code” and play Stephanie again and Harley would pick Zeb from Agramon’s Gate if for no other reason to get a full conclusion of the story.

We have similarities in our processes although they’re not the same nor are they the same for each character and role. Kaiti likes to be aware of her character as it develops and include it in her daily life and ask herself what choices and her character would make and also, she likes to dive into music and mindsets early on. Harley likes to play a lot with his characters and he’s often all over the map trying to find the character just by reading the lines over and over and over until clarity hits. As far as accomplishments that’s a hard question to answer while still in the race especially feeling we just got out of the starting blocks but so far what sticks out to Harley is that the films are standing the test of time. In an instant gratification world with many films disappearing within months after releasing to see our films thrive both domestically and internationally several years later is something I value a lot. We just got word that Betrayed that had sold to over fifty countries around the world and has been dubbed into many

languages was one of the most watched films on Univision’s streaming site Vix in 2021 dubbed in Spanish! For Kaiti it’s the fact that with very modest budgets we’ve been able to put films in theaters and draw audiences not to mention how well they’ve all done at film festivals around the world! As far as festival accolades it’s another hard to answer question but obviously we tend to remember those we attended but a few that come to mind are the Eclipse Awards for Agramon’s Gate, especially for Kaiti since Harley was in LA for an event and she had to accept all the awards that night and of course she says being singled out as Best Actress is always a humbling honor. For Harley it’s not so much what award but he especially loves that our films get so many awards in so many departments and when a film has a great festival run seeing multiple actors and actresses win or get nominated is special and the same when several departments get recognized!

In 10 years, Kaiti says she’d love to be doing exactly what we’re doing right now but it would be fun to see what we could do with a multi-milliondollar budget especially seeing what we’re accomplishing now! Harley agrees completely, it’s pretty incredible to be doing this at all so having some success is pretty incredible! What advice do we have to someone thinking of pursuing acting or filmmaking?

First off if you’re going to do it then Do It! That means you become a student of the craft and the arts and never stop learning - Get an acting coach, get a mentor, go to film school or do it online but pursue your own growth and never stop. But don’t chase it for the wrong reasons because there are easier paths to both money and fame, you need tough skin in this industry but if you do it’s worth it!
