Akhil & Aiswar ya, the Fashion Couple

brings the Global Fashion on to a single platfor m through their projects By Saif Rahman Sozib The designer couple Akhil and Aiswarya have been on the lips of everyone since their debut show in Kochi, India, their homeland. Akhil and Aiswarya from their Fashion House, A Square London (ASL) are giving an all-new bold look to the fashion industry. Spotted on social media under the head, A Square London, this duo enjoys a great customer base. Even though grown up in different backgrounds have ended up in the fashion industry exclusively because of their love for this profession. The goal in marriage is not thinking alike but thinking together proves right in their case. They started their career together in London in 2014. It was not just a duo they always had Dr. Siddeek Ahmed behind them as a strong pillar, he is the CMD of Eram Group, and a great humanitarian who always supported them from the beginning till now. He supports several charity initiatives in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Governments, Trusts, NGO’s and individuals besides his own projects. A Square London (ASL) bloomed for first in London in the year 2014. Till 2016 the couple shone in London with their innovative productions. Indians saw their talent only in 2016 with the telecast of a Fashion Reality Show by them in one of the national channels named Gods Own Beauty. Their dream project comes true in 2017 when the audience at the Adlux International Convention center sat unmoved. Vie Fashion Week (VFW), their dream project; their novel production showcased the presence of International Designers, Models and Beauty Pageants from across the globe which added to the elegance of the program when it was launched for the first time in Kochi, India. The fashion extravaganza observed the blend of international designs with the culture of Kerala. Fashion enthusiasts sat with their hands in the no rest posture signaling appreciation. www.vieawards.com www.asquarelondon.com www.viefashionwwek.com

No wonder it worked out from this celebrated fashion couple because they are so enthusiastic in their professional area to create something very different. Thinking out of the box is always their policy. Vie Fashion Week's launch was highlighted with one of the biggest fashion runways ever in India. This creative fashion runway displayed the elegant and proud collections of international designers from around the world. Chennai, the biggest cultural center in South India witnessed in 2018, November at Leela Palace, the fashion lovers sitting with their eyes fit into the ramp where Akhil and Aiswarya, ASL, flickered with their yet another project, Vie International Awards (VIA). The Vie International Awards was so unique with the presence of various International Designers, Models, Beauty Pageants, Royal Family members, High Commissioners and Ambassadors of different countries, Business profiles, and Hollywood and Indian celebrities together under within walls. VIA recognized and honored creative and emerging talents in the Fashion & Lifestyle industry with 6 other subcategories. The event was highlighted with the presence of top Magazines Editors and Media from the UK and Europe for the first time. The award winners and the audience were refreshed by the top pop singers from Malaysia; Designers from Europe, traditional Yoga artist, Mr. Rohan Raphy, from India captivated the audience with their amazing performance. While Akhil did his MBA from London, Aiswarya was obsessed with the artful ways of expressing herself. But now they join hands in designing, marketing, and do the VFW and VIA together creating wonders. Creativity and business are often looked apart according to them. Through VFW the designer couple wants to bring the whole world of fashion under one roof. They look for an amalgamation of cultures whereby every fashion enthusiast can know the trends of another country. VFW is the only fashion project in the world of the fashion industry, conducted not just in root country of the producers. It’s a mobile fashion project where one can find the designs of many famous, celebrated and emerging designers from around the globe. While conducting fashion weeks in such a different way the designer couple believes that they can bring together the changing trends in a single platform.

This designer couple who became famous by their works believes in no show stoppers. They say that the designers are the kings; the socalled show stoppers only carry what the designer designs. They treat every model as equals; there is no treatment higher to anyone or lesser to anyone. They not only limit their profession to conducting fashion weeks and award nights but rather they are now on their research to develop clothing which well protects from the UV rays. For a designer, creativity exists everywhere; he often sees life in his own works. Here it’s not just a singular noun to be used rather a plural they should be used. They are fashion persons, and for the fashion is not just about clothing but it's all kinds of changes. Now it’s all set to create a history in one of the top fashion hubs in the world, Dubai. Vie Fashion Week& Vie International Awards Dubai 2019 will include the participation of more than forty countries, gesturing global reach. They look forward to the union of different cultures under a single ramp. The fashion show in London in 2016 presented the audience with a mixture of traditional mural paintings with a western outfit. They are for sure looking for something different to be displayed in their Dubai project to hold back their followers. Vision 2022 will be achieved by them along with their team’s members from the UK, Europe, and India whom they always allude to in their interviews. Mr. Darren Imossi from Imossi Model Management handles their designers, international models, and celebrity segments. Mr. Niyaz, Indian fame actor who has been in the Indian movie industry for the last three decades, has been associating with them in the management from the very first project and Mr. Jude Felix who is choreographing the project also plays a great role in achieving their dream.

M i s s E u r o p e Wo r l d 2 0 1 8 C l i m b s E u r o p e ’s Highest Mountain For Skin Conditions By Saif Rahman Sozib Luissa Burton “Miss Europe World 2018” and Holonis User @wanderlost (Aaron Shoemaker of Wanderlost Productions) took on the INSANE task of taking the Miss Europe World 2018 sash to the summit of Europe’s highest mountain in Russia called Mount Elbrus (also one of the worlds deadliest!) FACT: More people die climbing Mount Elbrus every year than they do climbing Mount Everest. They climbed in 100 Kilometer per hour winds, and minus 40 degrees Celsius temperatures on snow and ice conditions using ice ax picks and crampons. They also battled zero visibility conditions, snowstorms and low levels of oxygen making it difficult to breathe due to the altitude. The reason? Luissa has eczema and psoriasis. She was always told she could never be a successful model or beauty queen and her goal of winning Miss Europe World was to show people that despite whatever limitation “you can overcome any challenge.” She went on to work for FORD models one of the biggest modeling agencies in the world and became the first British woman to ever win Miss Europe World despite her skin conditions. She says, “It doesn’t matter what people believe you can’t do, you can do anything you set your mind to. I wanted to raise awareness for people with skin conditions and for the charity the British Skin Foundation by taking on this challenge”. She has been an ambassador the charity for five years. You can view all the exclusive episodes here by following Luissa on Holonis: https://www.holonis.com/luissa-burton/p/JRzoAT5hK Make sure you follow all the episodes over the coming weeks before they release the FULL one-hour length documentary

Miss Europe World 2018 Episode 2: Believe And You Can Achieve! Sponsored By Holonis By Saif Rahman Sozib

How many times have you told yourself “I can’t do that” or you told someone your latest big idea, and they laughed and said, “that's not possible” and then they proceed to tell you why you can’t do those things. I’m sure we have all been there. When I started out in the modeling industry, I was fed all these beliefs due to my skin conditions. “You’ll never make it.” “You’ll never land a campaign.” “You won’t even make a penny.” I’ve risen to the top of my field, worked in markets all over the globe and become one of the UK's most successful beauty queens. I’ve worked with “The Rock,” I’ve worked with Wiz Khalifa, I’ve landed a campaign for the company that designs Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry. I’ve also modeled for some of fashions biggest names: Zandra Rhodes, Lola Rose and top Hollywood movie directors such as Gordon Bilejonic who directed Justin Bieber's “Baby” music video. Most recently I won Miss Europe World. I’m not sharing this for praise, I’m sharing it to show you I was someone who used to cry when I looked in the mirror. I felt dirty because of my condition, I felt broken because of the way people made me feel. I’ve been called a leper and a lizard, people moved away from me thinking I was diseased and could catch something. You can’t catch eczema and psoriasis. However, if you can overcome these feelings, confront your demons, find your self-worth and believe in yourself you too can achieve everything you’ve dreamed of. How can you be a model covered in eczema and psoriasis? Well. I did because I have worked relentlessly to change industry attitudes about perfection. We are starting to awaken to the fact that we are being sold perfection in the mainstream media day in and day out and this is no longer needed or wanted. I’m here to use my story to inspire other people that you can be comfortable in your own skin. I’m here to show others that I became successful in an industry despite all the barriers, negativity and “it’s impossible” comments that stood in the way.

Luissa Burton “Miss Europe World 2018 and Holonis User @wanderlost (Aaron Shoemaker of Wanderlost Productions)

The message: you too can achieve anything despite ANY barrier or limitation that currently exists in your life. Never back down, never give up and never accept anyone else’s opinion of your capabilities. You’ve been given a unique story, unique struggles, unique setbacks, unique talents and a unique set of gifts which makes you ONE OF A KIND. Now go out and use them because you are a superstar! Miss Europe World 2018 Episode 3 Mount Elbrus Charity Climb: “Your unique gifts and talents are your key to freedom and success.” By Saif Rahman Sozib

Today’s theme is using your story, gifts, talents, and passions to help serve others while serving yourself by turning that into a brand, lifestyle, and business. I always knew a typical office job wasn’t for me. Don’t get me wrong I’ve done my time serving on the chicken counter at the local supermarket (when I wasn’t vegetarian), cleaned houses, done all sorts of odd jobs doing admin when my modeling agency was holding onto my money and not paying me, sold door to door, worked in the mail room sorting office to support my studies and goals at the time. I can do it, and I did, and I would again, but I am in a place now where my vision of how I want my life to be is so strong that I can’t deviate from a path that I now know is my purpose. I’ve never been too good with authority and being told when I can go to the toilet. I always told my dad at the age of 3, I’m going to have my own business when I don’t even know how I knew what business was. I was obsessed with shows like The Apprentice and Dragons Den (known as Shark Tank in the US). I’m enamored with the study of people who have carved out their own successful careers doing things they love. My idols are Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, and naturalists like David Attenborough. I used to pretend sometimes I was sick so I could skip school and stay at home and watch documentary after documentary on the National Geographic channel educating myself on things that interested me, not what school wanted to teach me. I have a thirst for reading at every opportunity even if it’s just learning things on Google while walking down the street. More recently I have gotten into a lot of spiritual development literature.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t easy. I’ve failed, a lot and I’ll fail in the future, but I’ll just keep failing better. Successful entrepreneurs are usually a string of failures which get less of a failure with improvement until they reached their goals. The motivation to plan your own schedule. The not being accountable to anyone but yourself if you slack. The worry about when money is coming in as it isn’t stable starting out. These are all difficulties. You also must commit yourself to self-improvement and mindset work; otherwise, you can slip into doubt, despair and even depression like I have when I’ve not been taking care of my mindset on this journey. I must continually work on my “state” by keeping my drive, ambition, and mood positive so I can deal with the instability that comes with starting your own brand and becoming a business. But the rewards? They are soul fulfilling. That’s what drives me. Rewards such as I can use my story to help countless people with skin conditions feel safe in their own skin. I can make a living helping the planet rather than harming it. I can use my voice and platforms to raise awareness for pressing issues concerning our environment which is of utmost urgency in this current climate. In terms of lifestyle, I have the chance to create unlimited residual incomes depending on how hard I want to work and how creative I want to be using my brand name. Another thing I’ve always done was pretty much the opposite of what anyone wanted me to. This isn’t out of defiance; I just have a deep yearning to follow my heart. I’m guided by my intuition of what excites me, what I love, what I know I excel at. The idea of signing up to a lifetime of something I hate doing just didn’t make sense to me. Other people can forge successful careers doing what they love so why not me? It’s possible, and someone must. That’s why I chose to become “The Official Green Queen.” Anyone can use what they must to create something.

There is no ceiling to what can be earned. Active and passive incomes. Travel, I can live and work wherever I want. Schedule my own hours. I can make time to be healthy, spend time with loved ones and participate in LIFE.

Making money isn’t my driving force, but I know that with persistent effort, a strong vision and focusing my time on the things I KNOW I am good at, that money will be a by-product of that.

The future economy is digital. Technology is taking over many jobs. Branding yourself online now doing what you love is a way to fail-safe your future when these changes start to increase. A robot can’t take a job away from you when the unique selling point is well YOU. I also came to realize my eczema, and my psoriasis are GIFTS, they aren’t something that makes me dirty or broken or the names I had been called in the past. They are my logos, my brands on my elbows, to help serve others with conditions who are suffering. To raise awareness and break down the stigma associated with them. Holonis is the perfect entrepreneur's platform to begin branding yourself because you too are unique, you too have things you excel at what you can monetize by becoming your own brand. The world is your oyster. #Holonis #EntrepreneurEveryday #ElbrusCharityClimb #BeautyIsntSkin #MissEuropeWorld Now check out episode 3 of myself “The Official Green Queen” and Aaron “Wanderlost Productions” to see how we have branded ourselves, creating content to help serve others and the planet by clicking this link: https://www.holonis.com/luissa-burton/p/miss-europe-world-2018-episode-3mount-elbrus-charity-climb-your-unique-gifts-and-talents-are-your-key-tofreedom-and-success

But when her ratings plummet and she is accused of being a “woman who hates women,” Katherine puts gender equality on her to-do list and impulsively hires Molly Patel (Mindy Kaling), a chemical plant efficiency expert from suburban Pennsylvania, as the first and only female on her writing staff. With rumors swirling that Katherine is being replaced by a younger, hipper male host, she demands that the writers make her funny and relevant again. A lifelong fan, Molly is determined to prove she’s not just a diversity hire, but the one person who can turn her idol’s career around. Going against everything Katherine has staked her reputation on, she urges her to make the show more contemporary, authentic and personal, a move that could make Molly’s career ― or send her back to the chemical plant for good. Starring Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility, Howards End), Mindy Kaling, Hugh Dancy (The Path, Hannibal), John Lithgow (“3rd Rock From the Sun,” “The Crown”), Max Casella (Jackie, Inside Llewyn Davis), Denis O’Hare (“This Is Us,” Dallas Buyers Club), Reid Scott (“Veep,” “The Big C”), Ike Barinholtz (“The Mindy Project,” The Oath), John Early (“Search Party,” The Disaster Artist), Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman) and Oscar nominee Amy Ryan (Beautiful Boy, Gone Baby Gone) Directed By Nisha Ganatra Produced By Mindy Kaling, Howard Klein (“The Office,” “The Mindy Project”), Ben Browning (The Big Sick, Room) and Jillian Apfelbaum (The Mule, All the Money in the World)

Romanian directors Anton and Damian Groves bring us Aeva, who haunts the vast cavernous halls of an otherworldly vault, it’s walls glistening with the crystalline minerals of yesteryear. Prowling like an extra-terrestrial feline, she wears an intricately crafted jewel, a dress fashioned of multi colored luminescent crystals that describe traditional Romanian floral motifs, frozen in time. As she wanders, her dress comes to life, and the crystals detach from her garment, one by one, floating into the atmosphere, carrying with them a message‌

Approached by Swarovski, fashion designer Lana Dumitru and architect Vlad Tenu have teamed up with the Groves brothers to reimagine tradition for the future ages. They took a folk pattern from a traditional Romanian rug and digitally re-constructed it from over 25.000 Swarovski crystals into a new kind of artefact. The complexity of this dress has reached an engineering level, only possible through full 3D simulations, algorithmic design methods, and digital prototyping.

• Anton and Damian Groves are half English, half Romanian brothers. Interested in art and storytelling from a young age, they found their voice in filmmaking and their passion took them to Romania. Since then, together they have been telling stories through film, music videos and commercials, having won awards and screened films in festivals throughout the world.

The fashion designers behind the dress talk about their creation here!

Romanian based directors Anton and Damian Groves give their artists statement on their film

From a very young age, makeup has always been my passion. I was born in Malawi Southern part of Africa where the cosmetics industry was not common, and products were only imported and had to get. After I moved to the USA at a very young age, I worked in the cosmetics industry where I worked with many well-known, make-up Artist. I identified a gap that was in the market for people of color. This segment had difficulties in finding products that would blend with their skin tone. Consequently, I became more drawn to the idea of becoming an entrepreneur in the make-up industry. With that idea, I enrolled myself to a makeup artistry school in Florida. Upon completion of my course, I decided that I should come up with my own cosmetics line in 2013. OmeCreation Cosmetics(OC) was born in that same year. OmeCreations Cosmetics (OC) are manufactured in the USA. Since its launch, OC has become a leader in prestige beauty in Malawi. ALAIN ZIRAH A SULFUROUS FRENCH WRITER.

“I always prefer the company of women.”

Photo: Fox Eye

Alain Zirah is a French writer living in the South of France. His last book is Forbidden to Men. Saif Rahman gets a special interview to know who that man is?

1. Alain Zirah, who are you?

Artists addict, I am a French writer. I started with short texts, rock dreams in poetry and philosophical tales. In the beginning, I wrote and drew French comics about fantasy or Sci-Fi. Then women took a great place in my life and my heart. I began to talk about my muses, love and the girl power. In my book “God Created Woman as herself ” I unveil my truth about the secrets of women and men relationship. God created Woman. God is a Woman. It’s the reason why women are divine and bear life for nine months. In the continuity, in my last book, I describe without any shame the wild side of humanity. With a lot of satirical and sarcastic humor, we discover our sad congeners in some kind of photography of our society ruled by women. 2. You’re famous as a writer in France. You called your last book Forbidden to Men? 3. Do you think men couldn’t understand or don’t you like them?

The book is made with poems and short stories about the relationship between men and women from the bathroom to the beach. I live in Marseilles, the oldest city in France. 2.600 years of history and the Mediterranean Sea all around. Boys and girls spend their time on the beach every sunny weekend. Basically, the men say they learn life in the street, but for me it’s different. My school of life is the beach. I began to swim before to run. A long time ago I was a beach photographer, asking people if they accept to be shot by me and to buy my black and white photography. It was a fantastic time with precious times as in a business school. So, it’s easy for me to tell how the sinks seducers kiss their girlfriend watching themselves in the mirror. Moreover, some stories about the guys in the locker room with the rough language before they put a bow tie and speak like elegant lover boys. It’s very funny for girls and women, but also for men who accept self-mockery. I don’t have any problems with men, but I always preferred the company of women. When you put together several men, they seek competition. Women prefer talking about real-life and psychology… moreover, they are shoe addicts. I like so much the time when you are on the street with your girlfriend, and suddenly she shouts: “Aaaah! … Look those shoes!”

It’s always very sensual when women let you enter her privacy, when they shave their legs, at home, or put some varnish on their nails. I like to spend hours at the hairdresser listening to their conversation about fashion and beauty. Because I had been high by women. When I was a little boy, I went shopping for food with my mother and grandmother, my aunt and cousin. From the baker to a fishmonger, my universe was female. Moreover, at last, women always ruled the world. From the queen of Sheba and Cleopatra to businesswomen of our XXIst century, they know exactly what they want. Moreover, how they’ll get it. I see it. I love it. I want it. I get it. 4. Alain Zirah, did your way of writing change after so many years? At school, I liked to imagine stories. I drew comics in my school notebooks. Then I began to write short stories on note supports and sticky notes about scripts for very short films I wanted to shoot in super 8 and then later in the video. When I was lying down on the beach, I wrote a novelette about the dreams of a rock star. I was 18. However, my way of writing was like an elaborated script. The goal was to make films. At the same time, I wrote poems and songs. In fact, I discovered that songs are like poems with a very catchy refrain. Later I decided to tell the naked truth about myself. To talk about my precious trust and intimacy. I wrote fictions about rock’n’roll guys and gals in fantasy word and Sci-fi. It was very interesting to publish the novels I wrote from 1976 to 2016. 40 years of writing books and novels. Each story had two interpretations. The initial story and a new interpretation of the same story in our XX1st century with new characters as President Donald Trump or David Bowie’s loss. The book is called Rock Fictions (1976-2016).

You may cross a glass and flesh goddess standing on a raft composed of naked men, a punk playing pinball in a bar, a coke junky setting up a terrible crime to punish his alcoholic wife... Even men are having a sensual experience with a ghost during a table-moving spiritualism session. I have assembled 40 years of dreams and fantasy. It’s about sex, drugs and rock’n’roll. Moreover, women, of course. That was the kind of inspiration to write my book forbidden to men. Women are the passion of my life and my tool for each way of creation. “Men do not read books no more. It is distressing, but it’s a fact. They admit it: - I still read sports papers. Sometimes, other men read magazines in the toilet. News about films, or women's magazines. Younger, it was a female catalog. That’s why, darling, I have concocted this sarcastic, funny book to depict the thought of my congeners and to help you to take pleasure into the testosterone’s jungle, flee the sinks seducers and the junk advisers who think they could be low-cost psys (…)” 5.What are your goals as a writer? Are you a provocative guy when you announce that God created Woman as herself, and publish the Forbidden to men book?

Women are the inspiration of my life. These books are the culmination of several years to observe the behavior of women and men. I reveal my truth about the secrets of women and men, to help them to change a little of their lives to become better. These texts are a tribute to the woman by a man who loves women. Basically, we hear that God created man in his own image and Eve out of the rib of man. This masochistic philosophy sub-intends that the man presents a divine character and women are inferior to men. That was their custom and tradition, for 6,000 years in many countries. Now, it’s time to put a term. Women took power. Since I was a child, I always had been very sensitive to the values defended by the feminist organizations. I always seek the best way to put the woman on a pedestal.

Whatever the way to express my feelings by writing or drawing, as a photographer or a film director. The goal is to change the mentalities. During the seventies and eighties, the virile image of the perfect man was the Marlboro cowboy. Later, we discovered him with cancer of the throat and the tongue. It was awful. At the same time David Bowie, Michael Jackson, and Karl Lagerfeld offered us another way to be a man. Androgynous or asexual. Moreover, men decided to stop smoking cigarettes. Actually many women smoke and drink. As a photographer, looking at her skin, I immediately knew if a woman smoke or not. The cosmetics industry decided that men should pay more attention to their skin, their food, their health. Where are they gone the new Iggy Pop and Nick Nolte in 2019? I actually met them all and many stars. However, I prefer to consider these famous people as great artists.

The best provocation in France was the famous singer Serge Gainsbourg putting the fire to a 500-franc note. My message is for men to change their vision of women. If the female readers could be aware and involved in the criminal aspect of female genital mutilation like excision, my books will be even more useful. 6.You choose to publish your e-book before the book. Is it usual in France?

France is an old country with old values and the French people only talk to Frenchies. Years ago I met several times Elton John, and he told me: - “Your name is too difficult. AZ it’s easy.” So, for American and Asiatic people I prefer they call me AZ. After writing and publishing for 60 million French readers, the e-book allows me to reach a potential of 600 million French readers worldwide. So, you could read my books everywhere in the world with www.Amazon.com.

“Gather a group of girls and my attention is focused by her. I become a man object to their service. I am a worshipper of women. Women, the higher your heels are, the more you are a princess!

"Every paint pusher wants and needs to paint Bettie Page just to see what made her tick. I went all in and painted her ten times back in 2008-2009. I'd still be painting her today but my clients come first. Several of the paintings were done in a US Stamp format, circa 1955, when First Class stamps were 3 cents and the US flag had 48 stars. Your seeing portrait number one.

We will be publishing one portrait per month over the next few months. I still have the originals. It was through Bettie that I discovered how to make a girls face appear as "The Sweet Girl next door" in one extreme to super sexy in the other end of the spectrum. That was the Bettie's unique talent and that was why she was one of the most sought after pinup models.“

Artist NiNa MaldĂŹ Photographer Manuela Olga Malerbi

NiNa MaldĂŹ (Nina Maldini )

A 360 ° Artist and Craftswoman, born in Sicily, grows and forms between Italy and Switzerland, currently living in La Spezia in the cradle of the "Gulf of Poets.“ Nina grew up in a family of artists who nurtured and cultivated her marked sensitivity to art in general, her creativity was very well known since she was a child, each of her creations became a gift for the whimsy and genius of what she made from painting, sculpture to clothing. Her need to create was nourished because as the artist herself says she to date is "... I never find things

that I like and that I need, so I create and build them ...". This almost fairy-tale world, however, has many moles, which have left very deep scars in its soul and which have influenced many of its life choices, she loses the affection, protection, and guidance of her parents when she was still very young. From the very strong character it continues despite their absence to follow their advice, and this allows it to be realized in many working environments, Nina travels a lot for many years all over Europe, being bilingual German / Italian, this allowed her to learn about various cultures, she has been enriched with emotions and gratifications, has held very important and substantial roles, bringing many activities to commercial success. Despite her uphill life, permeated by pain and renunciation, she does not regret her choices. Indeed she says "... I had so many gratifications, and I was happy ...", so many beautiful memories that have partially replaced her never exhausted, only dormant artistic vein.

She does not call herself an Artist but a Craftswoman, a Decorator, loves art and does not realize that it gives life to particular art forms, "Create for herself " and because she loves "Personalize" but her creations are successful, receive acclaim in exhibitions and fairs to obtain awards for her talent and among the many stands out the "Special Award for Painting" of Camaiore in 2005, several times rewarded as "Artist of the Year" until the very recent 2017, her works arrive in Russia for a traveling exhibition, publications in various sector and design magazines ... from the success Nina cannot hide herself and although it is unexpected for her the need to sign her works is born, so her name of art is born NiNa MaldĂŹ. Nina has never lost her smile and the light that shines from her gaze has enclosed her in her works with the use of "Gold-Silver-Copper " leaves, very important to her because they convey that message of love for life, because as hard as it is and it is difficult to get up again life is a PRECIOUS GOOD and we need to arm ourselves with optimism to win, her " Messages of Light " thus defines her pictorial works, decorations on glass and the newcomers jewels with the use of materials and precious stones creating original and luxurious shapes, immediately becoming a fashion among young people. Unique jewels because the materials are hand-woven without welding, her name is strictly hand-engraved by her. In her artistic career still in full swing, she can boast of having been a source of inspiration for Stylists. It was not easy to enclose the experience of an Artist with many facets, still very reserved today, in a few lines, I wanted her works to talk about Her.

The story of …

Scott Crossfield by

Sally Farley

The man could build or repair anything. If he needed a screw, he didn’t go to a hardware store, he went down to his workshop in the basement and made what he needed on his lathe. If I said, I needed toothpaste he’d tell me how to make it as I rolled my eyes and shook my head in a truly teenage manner.

It wasn’t long before he purchased the Cessna 210 that he nursed, loved, and flew for the next 20 years.

There were so many stories he would tell me that I only half listened to because they were all so incredible, I was certain he must be exaggerating. Only, he wasn’t.

In 1977 he joined the House of Representatives as a technical consultant to the House Committee on Science and Technology. He was played by Scott Wilson in the movie The Right Stuff.

He told me about meeting and marrying my mother. She was part of a trio who sang at the Navy officers club, WWII era. My father, a young lieutenant, saw her, went up to her and told her he was going to marry her. From his side, this went well. As she told it, she just laughed and walked away. Either way, they were married before he went off and had a taxi driver as their witness. She told me he was off to fly a mission when the war ended, he was a Navy Gunnery Instructor and fighter pilot. In my late teens and early 20s, I would often be my father’s “date” for the many occasions he would attend. On one, I had dinner with Paul Tibbets, who dropped the bomb from the Enola Gay. On other occasions, it would be Neal Armstrong or many other aviation greats. After the X-15 he didn’t fly again until the mid-1980s when my mother suggested it was time, he should.

In 1974 after Eastern Airlines he went to Hawkers Siddeley which was a London based firm, for a moment it seemed we might be moving to London.

It was in 1986 that he established, and self-funded the A. Scott Crossfield Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year Award to recognize and reward teachers for outstanding accomplishments in aerospace education. These outstanding winners of this award became known as the Crossfield Kids. I only learned of it when I came home after the plane crash and found the nomination packets he was reviewing on his desk, this desk I sit at now. I made a few calls, a committee was quickly formed, nomination packages were reviewed, and the winner selected, and his award lived on. To this day it is cradled safely under the wings of the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton Ohio and awarded annually. One of the main reasons he established this award went all the way back to that grade school teacher who encouraged him to strive for his dreams.

NASA awarded him the Distinguished Public Service Medal in 1993 and this was also the year he “retired.” Over the years I watched whatever had come between my parents dissolve away, and my parents fall in love again, not that they ever really didn’t, but something was in the way. He was in the air flying to California when 9/11 happened. He was about 30 minutes from the small airport by my home when the order for all planes to land came out. He tried to convince them to let him land at the airport near my home, but they said they’d shoot him down if he didn’t land immediately. I think it was nearly ten days before the flight ban was lifted, but every day he would sit in his plane ready to go as he did in the X-15 days. The small motel he was staying in finally just felt sorry for him and stopped charging him. He would go to Oshkosh Air Show every year, and every year I’d go to stay with my mother because I loved her, and it made him feel better knowing she wasn’t alone. There were no street lights so the nights were very dark, and he wasn’t comfortable leaving her alone on the five acres. It was a hardship having to have a nightly martini with her and talk and laugh with her. He worked tirelessly on the Wright flyer project, and on December 17 of 2003, flight’s 100th Anniversary, they would set out to recreate the first

flight with an exact replica of the Wright Flyer. He would teach the other pilots on the team to fly it, but first, he had to learn how to fly it. On that day in December, while in the crowd gathered at Kitty Hawk, I could listen to the people passing by when they saw him coming through. I remember being so proud, no one knew I was his daughter so spoke only how they truly felt. They were awed and inspired and truly liked him, not a single negative comment. He was the kind of guy you could approach any time, and he’d shake your hand and talk to you as he would a long-lost friend. Yet he never sought out attention. We’d talk via phone nearly weekly or via email. A typical email from him: Date: 1/28/2006 Subject: Hello Sweetheart Sally: I have been remiss and not responded to several of your emails and feel bad about neglecting Sally baby doll chickadee sweetheart. The airplane has been ailing, but I think I am on the way to getting it back on track. My health is back on track and Mom seems to be doing well, and Tony is a Godsend doing most of my fall work while I was goldbricking claiming to be sick. Mom said you were in low spirits. Sorry about that but as a rule these things shall pass for others not good stuff to move in.

For some reason, peaceful tranquility always seems to have something lurking in the corner to spoil things. Anyhow kid hang in there and know we love you all dearly, YOD YOD stood for Your Old Dad. The last email just five days before the plane crash. Date: 4/14/2006 Subject: Re: Dad…show this to Mom Sally, Baby, Lamb, Chile, Sweetheart, Daughter and all those good things: How ya doing kid? I copied your letter and gave it to Mom. Do you celebrate Easter? I don’t know why we celebrate “Happy” Easter. Seems it’s a day of infamy, calamity, and certainly remembered. Got back from Florida Tuesday. Head for Alabama this Monday. Hope I can finish the taxes on time. I will. Hope things have calmed down on the western front and you get a little respite from your trials and tribulations. Love YOD On April 19, 2006, I woke up, planned on going to the gym. I decided to wear a tee shirt my dad had given me years before, I had never worn it before, never even thought about it, but for some reason, I picked it up and thought...why not? I was at the gym working out when I felt like I got kicked in the gut. I remember looking around to see if anyone else noticed anything, but it was just me, I looked at all the TVs, something must have happened, nothing.

Later that day I sat on my deck reading the paper and randomly turned to obituaries (I never read the obituaries), and thought, if anything ever happened to my father, I’d put an obituary in my local paper. Then later, still feeling uneasy, I called home. My brother answered and said my mother couldn’t come to the phone. I really didn’t think much of it at the time because I didn’t know he was already missing. April 20, 2006, 10 am ish my sister called and said: “we have a potential problem.” I remember little about those first hours, just a flash of my husband taking me to the airport, being on a plane, being picked up at the airport by a friend. It was then that my brother in law called and said it was confirmed, my father had been found, he was dead. He was flown into a Level 6 Thunderstorm, the worst there is. The storm tore the wings off, took the passenger door, and he went in like a missile so no tree canape damage. His death took us all by surprise, he always told me he’d outlive us all, he loved life. It was an awful time. News reports speculating maybe he was too old to be flying. I knew how much my father respected flying and never took risks, most of all with the weather so hearing the speculation was painful. My father was a really decent man, he didn’t deserve speculation, he’d earned and deserved.

In the end, after two years of the NTSP investigating, the Justice Department ruled it a Wrongful Death. That did not make the news.

It was a difficult time, a heartbreaking crazy reality none of us saw coming. In retrospect, after watching my mother suffer for a decade after his death, I’m glad he took only moments. The sad fact and reality of it all are we just don’t want the chapter to end. The weekend he flew to Alabama my mother moved back into the master bedroom as a surprise when he came home. It was to be their 63rd wedding anniversary. He didn’t know she moved back in, and he never came home again. We lost a big piece of her when we lost him. She was never the same. He was cremated and brought home and on a hot, muggy, overcast day in August of 2006 he was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in an emotional and beautiful ceremony attended by many friends, family and aviation greats. He is in Columbarium X3, the only X plane he didn’t fly, he’s flying it now with my mother beside him, sharing eternal rest, together again.

November 20, 2018, marked the 65th anniversary of Mach 2. “Each of us who strives toward the unattainable contributes to man’s

ever-growing reservoir of knowledge and fact. Each drop, however small, is vital for those who follow behind us. Without it, a man must inevitably atrophy.
