From The Editor Just as we get over the hype and chaos of Christmas, we close our eyes and boom, its March, and this year that means Easter!
So in celebration of my favourite time of year, we have pulled together a nice little mini mag for you with a mix of both Easter and non Easter party beauties, goodies and DIY's.
I have to admit (and when I say this to people I am looked at in confusion), that I absolutely A huge thank you to our editorial and product love Easter, much more than Christmas. contributors as always, as well as Maria, our Creative Director. Easter is full of chocolate, cute bunnies, pastels, baby chicks, egg hunts, Easter We hope you enjoy Easter and school hat parades and the Easter Show (NSW's holidays! agricultural show). Also, I feel that there is less pressure around Easter than Christmas. For my family and I, Easter is huge! We are Greek Orthodox and for Easter I observe lent (no meat or dairy for 40 days) which makes Easter Day even more amazing! Think lamb on the spit, lots of chocolate and of course koulouria (shortbread) and tsoureki (sweet bread). Look these up if you've never heard of them, trust me you won’t regret it!

The Easter Egg Hunt & Picnic Emily Jabour, AKA The Party Bebe, shares the details of her charming and fun Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic.
Our little bunnies and their adorable bunny friends had the sweetest time at our Easter picnic and egg hunt! I hosted it with one of my girlfriends, Emily Tuck, who has just launched a gorgeous new business. An online homewares destination, Pretty Snippets stocks a beautiful range of vintage treasures, and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to showcase some of the unique whimsical pieces, all of which are available for sale or hire for parties and events. As the little bunnies arrived we ushered them toward the bunny craft station with colouring sheets and pastel paper bags from Lombard the Paper People. The bags had white bunnies (which I had added) for the kids to decorate before the egg hunt.
Our Easter party was held in the late afternoon so we served a picnic afternoon tea, including LaManna Patisserie Easter Bunny and ‘Happy Easter’ Egg shaped cookies, marshmallow egg pops from Smash Cake Melbourne, cups of popcorn, berries and sushi. Our cake bar was set up on Pretty Snippets' cane tables and featured a sweet Bunny Cake from LaManna Patisserie, as well as mini Malteaser Bunny Cake, and the most adorable Bunny smash cake from Smash Cake Melbourne, which the kids loved demolishing at the end of the party. The mummas sipped on Calabria Wines' Prosecco as the little ones enjoyed their sweet treats.
We were very lucky to have Fairy Cat from Carnival For Kids entertaining the children. The kids were completely captivated by this beautiful All of the cute decorations were from Lombard Fairy! Danielle from Carnival for Kids was also in the Paper People, including the sweet bunches of attendance and painted the most adorable bunny pastel balloons, egg shaped tissue balls, decorative faces on the kids, with most opting for a ‘rainbow foam carrots, tissue grass, chenille chicks, metal bunny’. Easter buckets and white cut out picket fence. The dress code for the bunnies was a touch of pastel and Ava (Emily's daughter) was thrilled to wear her beautiful new floral IZZY dress from PLAY etc. They have the sweetest range of dresses that are just perfect for Easter time (they're also a wonderful company to support as they are all about empowering girls and have a partnership with Room to Read, a not-for-profit organisation supporting girls' education in developing countries).

No Easter party is complete without an egg hunt, and I have to say big thank you to Easter Egg Warehouse for providing the chocolates! The kids were thrilled to discover mini Lindt Bunnies, Lindt chocolate carrots and Cadbury eggs (also, Easter Egg Warehouse delivers Australia wide). The mums were not forgotten, and each took home a delicious pack of Ferrero Hazelnut Eggs. It couldn’t have been a sweeter afternoon! A very big thank you to all the wonderful partners for their contributions and to all our gorgeous friends who joined us for this magical afternoon!

Le Marché aux fleurs d’Amelia Amelia's love of flowers was transformed into a dreamy Parisian scene for her 5th birthday. By Daniella Spinetti at Eve&Co.
Amelia’s love of flowers inspired the theme behind this 5th birthday party. At the planning stage, the birthday girl herself announced she wanted a “flower party”. In all honesty we were stumped as to how to turn such a seemingly simple theme request into something with ‘wow’ factor. At that same time, Miss A was fascinated with all things French, so after brainstorming with the megatalented Leanne Anderson (Dream A Little Dream Events) we landed on ‘Le Marché aux fleurs d’Amelia’, or ‘Amelia’s Flower Market’. Once we set the theme, we commissioned the most amazingly beautiful custom illustration of the birthday girl which included the cart we planned to use on the day, and it basically became the 'identity' of the event. It all started with the invitation (of course), and expanded out into signage and favours on the day.
We really believe that its the little details that leave the biggest impression, and so the guests’ tables were adorned with stunning hand-dyed silks or muslins to match the event theme. We also wanted to make the guests' party hats something special, which featured hand crafted paper flowers – they were like tiny little 3D works of art. We carried the theme right through to the favours and even included ‘petit cadeaux’ for ‘le mamans et le papas’ (little gifts for the mums and dads) which were the most amazing bespoke hand crafted soaps, wrapped in a hand-dyed ombre silk.

Kitty Cat, Meow! An on-trend cute kitty celebration for little Maebel's first birthday, by Karyn Krywicki at Peekaboo Parties
Little Maebel's 1st Cute Kitty Cat Birthday party was inspired by her mum Nicole who has always had a love of cats. In Nicole's words "both Maebel and I love our cat Ishka" and what better way to celebrate than by being surrounded by the things you love. Gorgeous Maebel was dressed for her party in a cat-face dress along with matching kitty cat shoes and ear headband whilst Nicole even got into the theme by wearing her own kitty cat face shoes!
I had a cute kitty face 'logo' designed to ensure the theme was carried throughout the table. I got stickers made with the logo and these were used on popcorn cones, mini pasta cups and sandwich boxes along with decals which were placed on milk bottles filled with chocolate and strawberry milk, tin pails filled with salads and fruit salad boxes. Custom made cat face cupcake toppers were another feature which were used on both cupcakes and the cheese board.

A Vintage Easter Sweets Table Anna Hogbin of Mama Bear's Kitchen showcases her vintage styled pastel Easter gathering.
I gathered some friends together to celebrate Easter with a flower crown workshop. I wanted the sweets table to be the centrepiece of the room drawing guests back to their childhood with an array of homemade treats and lollies. In keeping with the traditional Easter theme, I chose a pastel colour palette, surrounding everything in fresh, crisp white. The table had a distinctly vintage feel with old fashioned lolly jars, white milk glass dishes and compotes, cute kitsch planters and a pretty apron bunting strung across the front. I complimented the sweets table with a tea station set up on an old white dresser, using my fine china tea cups and a pastel fabric scrap bunting.

For the backdrop I used a timber board my husband made which I painted white. A simple Easter wreath and pastel sign decorated it nicely. I printed vintage kitsch tags for the lolly bags and decorated glass milk bottles with paper flowers and string. Two simple ways to add creative detail to your styling. Easy Easter treats I made with the kids included cutting out homemade coconut ice using a bunny cookie cutter shape, and decorating Easter sugar cookies with buttercream. Another fun idea is to dip half an Oreo biscuit into candy melts or chocolate and cover in pastel sprinkles. Tim Tam pops, pretty cupcakes and a delicious chocolate cake with buttercream roses completed the sweets table.

CRAFTY DIY GIFT TAGS Try this DIY for your Easter bags and baskets. We promise you'll be addicted. By Adelle Frittitta
Easter is always upon us before we even have time to catch our breath from the madness and chaos of Christmas! But the lovely thing about Easter is that we get some time off to relax, without the pressure of Christmas parties and buying all those presents! But if you're anything like my aunty Tina, you still enjoy giving a little gift to your friends and family. My aunty buys me cherry liqueur chocolates, every Easter! I'm not complaining - I love the damn things! So if you do enjoy giving out chocolates and candy at Easter, these gift tags make a great DIY project. The process does involve a few steps, but trust me when I say, you'll be addicted to this printing method in no time!
8. Dry your calico with a hair dryer 9. Once the calico is dry, your transferred images look a little like this (see image) The smudgy white is paper residue. Remove this by wetting your finger tip and lightly rubbing 10. When you've removed the excess paper, give your images another coat of Mod Podge to seal them 11. Using the tag template as a guide, cut out your tags I used a hole punch to create the tag holes but it didn't work too well with the calico. I ended up using some fabric scissors to trim a little hole in each tag. You can use a sharpie to write personal messages on the tags too.

Smooth each image with your fingertips and ensure no air bubbles remain 5. Using a warm iron and some baking paper, iron over your images to dry the Mod Podge 6. Submerge your calico into the tub of warm water and soak for a few minutes 7. With your fingertips, rub back the soft paper to reveal your transferred image. Don't rub too much, so as not to remove your colour image. (I made this mistake a lot when I first tried this technique. I recommend making a few copies of your images just in case) 22

Easy Chick Cupcakes Jazz up Easter with these adorable chick cupcakes inspired by Mandy from My Lovely Little Nest. By Anna Skaroupka. WHAT YOU'LL NEED • 200g unsalted butter, softened • 200g caster sugar • a pinch of salt • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 4 eggs • 200g self raising flour • 125g cubed butter • 350g pure icing sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract • 1 tablespoon of milk • Yellow food colouring Buttercream • 125g cubed butter • 350g pure icing sugar • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
These adorable Chick Easter Cupcakes are easy to make and look very cute! They were a huge hit at the daycare Easter Hat Parade afternoon tea.
• 1 tablespoon milk • Yellow food colouring Decorations • Chocolate freckles, cut in half • Mini M&Ms (brown and orange) • Yellow buttercream icing
to ensure I had plenty of the fluffy icing to achieve the look I wanted. Buttercream Method
For the cake part of this recipe, you can use your favourite plain cupcake recipe or even a store-bought packet mix. I like to use the Simple Thermomix Vanilla Cupcakes recipe from Thermobliss, which makes perfect fluffy cupcakes every time! Baking Method 1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius. 2. Place sugar and butter into the bowl and mix for 15 seconds on speed 5. 3. Add the eggs, salt, vanilla extract and selfraising flour and mix for 15 seconds on speed 5. 4. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl with spatula, then mix for a further 10 seconds on speed 5. 5. Place the cupcake mixture into the cupcake cases - filling them to 2/3 full. 6. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden and when they spring back when touched in the centre. 7. Leave cupcakes in the baking trays for 5 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely. You can also use your favourite buttercream recipe, or if you are short on time you could use the premade Betty Crocker Frosting. For this recipe, I doubled the Buttercream Icing recipe from Thermobliss, 24
1. Place the butter and icing sugar into the bowl of your Thermomix and mix for 2 minutes on speed 3. 2. Scrape down the sides and mix for a further 1 minute on speed 3. 3. Scrape down the sides of your Thermomix bowl and add the vanilla extract and milk before mixing for 30 seconds on speed 3. 4. Add a few drops of a good quality yellow (gel dye is best) food colouring and mix again for 30 seconds on speed 3.
Method 1. Place buttercream in an icing bag, with a Wilton 1M (star) decorating tip. 2. Create a large swirl of yellow buttercream to form the chick’s body 3. Use two halved chocolate freckles to make the chick’s wings 4. Place the brown mini M&Ms flat for the chick’s eyes 5. Place the orange mini M&Ms vertically for the chick’s beak.

Sand Art Easter Brownie Offer something a little more outside the square for gifting this Easter. By Toni Kidman at Frosting Cakery
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
2/3 tablespoon salt 5/8 cup of flour 1/3 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup flour 2/3 cup brown sugar 2/3 cup caster sugar 2 packs mini Easter egs
METHOD Step 1 In a one litre jar, layer the dry ingredients in the following order: salt, flour, cocoa powder, flour, brown sugar, caster sugar and Easter eggs. Close the jar tightly. Step 2 Using your preferred tags, write the method as per below: Sand Art Easter Brownie! Add: 3 eggs 2/3 cup oil 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method: Preheat oven to 180c. Add jar contents to a bowl, and mix in eggs, oil, and vanilla extract. Line a 23cm x 23cm tin with baking paper, and pour in batter. Bake for 25-35 mins. Enjoy! Thread your tag onto ribbon or string and wrap around the jar. Voila!

The Meringue Maker In Mama Bear's
Kitchen: Easter Editon A look into the world of creative meringues with Lisa Hooper at Mybella Meringues.
Tell us a little about Mybella Meringues.
Mybella Meringues specialises in meringue creations that look and taste great. They are a beautiful addition to any dessert table, and can even be coloured to suit a brand. They capture the attention of adults and children alike, and there are always lots of oohs and ahhs, which I love. Traditionally the meringue has been very one dimensional, but I try to combine the aesthetic with a pleasing texture and flavour. Generally people don’t expect meringues to have any flavour.
The name is derived from my daughter’s name Maybel. It means loveable and her grandpa has called her My Bella since she was a baby. It made sense to call the business Mybella Meringues, which means My Beautiful Meringues. I started in January 2017 but prior to that I’d been making meringues for a few years. We have a little catch phrase, 'Saving the World One Meringue at a Time'. Basically, they’re happy food and I love seeing customers smile while they look at them before their eyes expand and light up when they taste them. At the moment, the range includes meringue kisses, unique meringue pops and big ol’ chunky meringue nests. Four years ago when our family moved to Sydney, I was styling and creating a few dessert tables for birthdays and events. However designing every component, styling and making everything from scratch was taking its toll. Then one day I came across the coloured meringue kisses and thought I’m going to focus on one thing and do it really well.

How did you come up with the idea to make these amazing creations out of meringue? Well, I loved meringue kisses as a child, and when I saw the coloured meringue kisses from the Meringue Girls in London I was in heaven. Since then I’ve tried to be more creative with what I produce. Along with the kisses, I love creating unique meringue pops, which are a huge hit for promotional events and as party favours for kid’s birthdays and weddings. This business allows me to combine my skills in creativity, graphic design and photography into one. Tell us about your treats, and your flavours? What do you put into these? Meringues are unique – there aren't many ingredients, but they're super fussy little things and can be very temperamental. I try to stick with herbs, spices and natural flavours and essences. It’s a delicate balance between flavour and having the mixture flop. It’s taken years to know exactly how to make them to get consistent results… lots of flops along the way. I get inspired by all sorts of things; for example icecream flavours and other desserts, but my head flavour creator, my son Harrison, always comes up with ideas I should try. His favourite at the moment is pine, lime and coconut, like a Splice. What plans do you have for meringues? I’d love to work more with the corporate world and brand the kisses and or pops to suit product launches. They add a fun element and the hard shell with the soft squishy centre (cont.)

filled with flavour is so memorable! I’m also working on a few new ideas for the wedding and christening industry. What has been your favourite creation? Probably some of the pops. I did love our Rosie the Reindeer (Rudolph's sister) at Christmas and the Watermelon pops are always a big hit too. What inspires you and your creations? I’m inspired by all sorts of things. I love looking at desserts, cookies, ice cream, stationery, and even my daughter’s Shopkins range which inspired some pops. I saw a mural on a wall the other day and though, ‘ooh, that could could look cute as a pop’, so took a picture and will store it in the bank of ideas. What are your favourite dessert trends at the moment? I love the letter and number decorated biscuit creations at the moment, using edible flowers and fresh fruit. You regularly attend markets and events, where can we visit you and buy your goodies in the next couple of months (aside from your website)? I’m a regular at the Kirribilli General Market and Mosman Markets (in Sydney) each month. This month Kirribilli is on the 24th March (because of Easter weekend). But certainly send an email through the website if you want to order for an event and most of our pops can posted to all major cities across Australia.

Easter at Confetti HQ
Easter festivities at Confetti HQ have come early this year! Our vision for Easter rarely departs from the traditional colour schemes. This time we chose pinks, purples and a touch of teal, reminiscent of a warm Spring garden, and pure bright white. The addition of metallic finishes added a touch of glitz. Our day was adorned with bunnies galore! A simple bunny PiĂąata made the perfect backdrop. On the table, we had adorable bunny plates and cups from Favor Lane Party Boutique, both with metallic touches. The platters were filled with delicious bunny cookies from Dough Re Mi Cookie Co. We had two cakes (parties with two cakes have been popping up on our feed lately), both in the ever popular 'sleepy eye style'. The smaller cake was a basic (yet delicious) vanilla cake, decorated with glitter and cardstock ears, eyes and nose from Toppers by Tegan. The second 34
cake was totally extra, with raspberry French buttercream cookies for ears, flowers for a tail and (edible) gold eyes. Our lucky friends also scored a super cute Easter favour, a little clear egg with the yummy Dough Re Mi Cookie Co. goodies, this time in chicken and carrot shapes. When our resident toddler woke up from her nap, she was in the mood for some fun. We decked her out in some gorgeous bunny ears and matching bunny tail from Schooza, cranked up the Disney movie soundtrack (why are there no Easter carols) and danced off our cookies!
