Looking back on this past year and everything that has happened since the beginning of Confetti Fair I think, wow, have we really done all of that? What started out as being a boutique fair in Sydney has now moved in to five different locations around Australia, has seen the organising of a national tour for the number one party blogger in the world, Kara Allen, one book published and now we launch the very first issue of Confetti Fair magazine.

I wanted to present a magazine that covers all aspects of the party from the food to the dĂŠcor to the styling to do it yourself tutorials. I wanted the magazine to be a reference point for the DIY host, a magazine where the pages will end up dog eared, the corners worn and the cover a little worse for wear; because it has been read time and time again.

Inside you will be taken on a party journey from styled celebrations to real parties to tutorials to fun decorating ideas. 176 pages of gorgeous imagery and ideas to tantalise your imagination, in hope that you will be inspired to create something magical for your next soiree. A birthday, a wedding, an anniversary, a baby shower, a hen’s day; whatever your celebration you will find ideas that will help you plan, style and deliver a great party.

We talk with Kara Allen from karaspartyideas.com about the unbelievable growth of her business, Paper Eskimo shares with us the latest trends in the party industry, we chat to creative designers, party bloggers and fabulous stylists who lend us an insight in to what their daily routine is, and what keeps them going.

Every day I come across amazing people in this industry who inspire me to create just that little bit better, I hope this issue of Confetti Fair magazine does that for you.

We chat with Sammy Hansen from Oh It’s Perfect about her lifestyle blog that is going gun ho since starting only a year ago.

blog love What made you start your blog? It was more my love of blogging and publishing that got me started on Oh Its Perfect. I used to have an interiors/design blog back in 2008 which I gave up after 2 years due to my hectic day job, but I always missed writing and blogging. So in 2012 I started Oh Its Perfect as a Party Planning resource guide with regular features on Fashion, Interiors and Events as well.

What inspires you? This is a hard one, as there are so many things. But mainly other blogs/websites, some great Instagram feeds that I follow and Pinterest.

Whose work has influenced you the most? I attended a lot of fashion weeks back in 2004 and that was my first art/ design influence, I remember being so overwhelmed with all the talent out there. As far as Parties are concerned I don’t consider myself a pro stylist or anything but I am learning every day from all the contributions I receive, international blogs like Amy Atlas and Kara’s Party Ideas, events I get to attend like Confetti Fair, so it’s an ongoing process.

How much time do you spend a day finding things to blog about?For parties that I feature probably around 2-3 hours just shortlisting from the submissions we receive. And for our Shop Guide and Style Guide features I can spend days researching, and all that research causes some serious damage to the credit card too.

Whose blogs do you watch? I follow more than 300 blogs, but the ones I check daily would be Glitter Guide, Amy Atlas, Oh My Vogue, Interiors Addict, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Made By Girl, Hostess With The Mostess, Fashion Toast and Style Me Pretty.

Why do you think blogs are so popular? I think people follow blogs only by choice, and because of a common interest, a niche that one is passionate about both the writer and the reader, and that connection can be very strong. And we are all living in a world where bite sized content is the most preferred of all, and blogs are generally the perfect platform for such an offering.

Describe your day to day diary I run a Digital Media Agency in addition to my blog, so every day is different. I generally have a couple of meetings for my agency in the morning, and I spend most of the mornings working on that. I am a night owl, and most of the work for Oh Its Perfect gets done late at night.

“Work” involves shortlisting Parties to be featured, exchanging quite a few emails with my awesome contributors, working with the web developer on improving the site, putting an editorial calendar together every fortnight etc. It hardly seems work though as I love doing all of this, and am blessed to be able to call this work.

For someone starting out blogging what would your three bits of advice be to them? Stay original, invest in a good blog design, do not compare yourself to anyone.

shop front What a combo. An eye for detail stylist and a graffiti artist signwriter make up the ever stylish Ashdown & Bee. We are invited in to their new studio in Stanmore for a chat and look around.

What made you start your business? I love styling, it’s an absolute passion for me! I do freelance prop styling for editorial and advertising, with a background in event management. I always had a passion for stylish events, so I decided to go out on my own and start a business styling weddings and events. During this time styling shoots and events, I managed to collect a range of amazing props and kept getting enquires about hiring them out. My collection of props is now available to hire to other stylists, DIY party hosts, and brides-to-be. I’m lucky enough to be able to work on projects with my partner Simon every day, who runs the signwriting part of our business, but also helps me when I’m doing event setups.

What inspires you? All kinds of design from floral design, to typography to paper craft to illustration, and everything in between.

Whose work has influenced you the most? I really admire the work of my partner Simon who does the most beautiful handwritten lettering and typography. I’m also influenced by the work of stylists Megan Morton, Lara Hutton, Anna Spiro, Kara Rosenlund and Glen Proebstel.

What do you do to keep up with current trends? I buy tons of design magazines, from bridal to lifestyle to interiors (Hello May, Hitched, White, Kinfolk, Fete, Frankie etc). I also follow blogs on events, weddings, DIY, interiors and design.

Where does your stock come from? I have props for hire that are a mix of vintage and new. I source items which I collect during my day-to-day travels and I also have my favourite haunts around Sydney (and beyond) that I visit regularly!

“...IT’S IMPORTANT TO STAY TRUE TO YOUR OWN STYLE.” What obstacles have you come up against when opening a retail store? We’re more of a design studio than a retail store, so we’re open by appointment. With the nature of my business, I’m often out styling a job or sourcing props so I can’t be in the studio full time. We would love to eventually have some staff so we can be open daily so people can pop in and have a look at our range and get inspired. Running a business with my partner also means it’s a challenge to balance work and social life as we see each other so often, we often don’t make enough social time to spend together!

Describe your day to day diary Every day is so different, but I generally start the day by looking at blogs, as well as emails that have come in overnight. I either head to our studio or onsite to a job depending on the day. If I’m in the studio, I’m either on my computer (developing concepts, emailing clients or vendors, sourcing props) or meeting clients who are either picking up props, custom signs or discussing their party styling needs.

How did you get to where you are now? I had a really focused goal and did everything I could to achieve it. We did a lot of work from home before we opened our studio, which is where we started to build our portfolio and customer base, which is growing with every job we publish on our social media.

For someone starting out in the industry what would you suggest to them? Make sure you have the time and passion to put your all into it, as it will show in your work. As for any creative field, it’s important to stay true to your own style.

world of washi tape Washi means (wa) Japanese (shi) paper and is commonly made using fibres from the bark of the Gampi tree, the Mitsumata shrub or the paper Mulberyy. It can also be made from hemp, rice or wheat.

So, just what is a washi tape, anyway? It is a decorative tape made out of rice paper. It comes in a plethora of colors and many different designs. It is commonly used in art and craft projects, specifically paper crafts. It is a staple scrapbooking embellishment.

Washi Tape, or Japanese masking tape, first originated in Japan by the company Kamoi Kakoshi Co., Ltd. under the name MT masking tape. It all started in 2006 when puzzled Kamoi received an email from a small group of women who created a book using their industrial masking tape. The email stated that they would like to tour their facility before working on a second book using their masking tapes. Confused Kamoi did not initially respond to this curious email, and later received a package from the women; It contained colorful, beautifully designed pages all done in masking tape! Kamoi eventually agreed to let the women tour their facility, and their marvel and fascination at the tape making process filled Kamoi with great pride. Later, they received a second book filled with more beautiful pages from 17 different artists, all using their masking tape to create a thing of beauty! The women requested that Kamoi create more masking tape colors. Kamoi did not hesitate after a big art exhibition in Tokyo and lots of media coverage; they took the plunge and began to work on creating the perfect rolls to use for crafts and design! They not only created many more colors, but also designs that were cute and functional.

Did you know that creating the perfect hue of washi tape is a difficult process? Because of the consistency of the rice paper, creating the ideal color, especially light colors, is hard to produce because it’s easy to get a dull hue. It was a long and arduous process, but eventually Kamoi created washi tapes in colors that resembled flowers in a field. They called it mt, because, well, that’s what everyone in the company referred to it as! They decided to give the colors traditional, archaic Japanese names and chose packaging that would be aesthetically pleasing. Thus, washi tape was born. It is loved and cherished by many in the arts and crafts community as a staple in the creative paper craft process.

Today, it is used for all sorts of party ideas; cake bunting, cupcake toppers, straw banners, the list goes on. We have put together four different ways to dress up your guests drinking bottles to suit a theme; neon, flamingo, moustache and floral.

STYLED PARTY

y t x i s t a s u fabulo “Fabulous at 60!” was the motto for this event – a memorable celebration for a wonderful lady, Diane. She wanted something that was feminine without being too “girly” while opting for a vintage style with a rustic touch.

Diane also happened to be a florist and absolutely adores flowers so it was only natural that she wanted an abundance of beautiful blooms to feature in the decorations, as well as on the cake, which was simple with a rustic look to match the theme and adorned with fresh flowers for that extra special touch.

A beautiful watercolour backdrop and the stationery were designed for the event. We wanted something soft and a style that would accommodate a mix of colours, it worked perfectly.

We also used mirror bases and some vases with a silver mirror finish to add some sparkle and light to the table that was draped with vintage lace and a rustic hessian runner.

What did you want to be when you grew up? A Vet! But I am currently loving my creative business and satisfy my need for science by studying psychology.

What inspires you? Pinterest has literally changed my life! I love when an idea pops into my head and I can run with it simply by typing a word into "search".

Whose work has influenced you the most? The installations and pieces created by Confetti System (NY) have influenced myself and many of my stylist clients. I am often asked to emulate one of their pieces but I love when I can make it my own by using different materials and colour palettes.

What are the steps you take to create your end piece? I begin with a lot of research as clients often ask for suggestions and advice on theming their event. Once we have exchanged images and ideas

I will usually order materials and begin to create templates. Then construction can begin. I build my frames before fringing lots, and lots of tissue or foil. A few hours later.... I'm done!

What materials do you use? A lot of foil, tissue, cardboard and glue.

All my pieces are made-to-order so I source and use different materials to suit the clients event.

e c a p s d hea Describe your style: My many different styles reflect the many hats I wear in life. Conservative, luxe, beachy, vintage and I can never pass up a little neon! I like to follow the trends but bend them to reflect my own personality and casual lifestyle.

What obstacles have you come up against when trying to be creative? Finding the right materials and colours for a piece can be really hard sometimes. Time is also a huge factor as my pieces take a few hours each; I cannot rush using easily ruined materials like tissue paper and mylar foil.

What would be a regular day in your space? I like to convince myself that I have a "studio", but the reality is that I use my iPhone to email, research and order from car parks, playgrounds, coffee shops or even the trampoline. I usually make my pinatas and garlands in the afternoon or evening when my little ones are settled at home. I love the flexibility of my business and the understanding of my clients and fellow events industry people.

What’s your family life like? Busy but amazing. I am a full-time Mum to my mini-me 4 year old daughter and my genius 6 year old son who has Aspergers. We lead a very full and interesting life dictated by our family members interests; most often early morning styled shoots for me are followed by a day at the beach and a picnic for our little family.

For someone starting out in the industry what would you suggest to them? If you are starting from scratch as a small time operator keep your outlays small and don't be pressured into spending up big on advertising. If you produce a quality product and conduct your business in a professional and honest manner your product should sell itself. Also, social media is key!

Best bit of advice you received? "Don't sell yourself short." A friend I have made in the industry urged me to be proud of my work and not sell myself short when I have put so much time and effort into a piece. www.partypony.net.au

in two cups of water on the stove, over a low heat. Add one cup of mint leaves and let it stand to cool. Once it’s cooled, strain and place it in the fridge until it’s ready to serve. Pour two tablespoons into a cup and top up with soda water. Decorate with a slice of lime and mint. For the grown ups, just add white rum and you have a mojito.

Botanical centrepieces of fern and moss set in silverware on top of rustic wood rounds added a touch of earthy elegance to our red and rustic timber base. A rustic timber cabinet became our drinks station with tasty berry and spiced apple drinks. Story time with Granny in her reading chair was extra special when the wolf came to visit too!

Jocelyn from Memories are Sweet created the perfect Paperie. Her storybook invitations with picture sleeves and slide out information cards were a perfect fit for the theme with matching bunting and labels for our drinks station.

Set in a clearing in the middle of the woodlands, the trail to Granny’s house nearby, our Little Red Riding Hood and her friends were dressed in our modern interpretation of Victorian style by Vanessa of Vintage Sistas. Their fur capes and lace collars worked beautifully to transport our little angels back in time. Our mini woodsman looked incredibly dapper in his newsboy cap, vest and shorts; handmade by Vicki from Victoria Blue. Our little one’s hair was styled by Khesanh from The Beauty Case and her littlest assistant Lola.

"Something borrowed, something blue. Today my love, I marry you."

The wedding phrase, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe", is a beautiful old tradition carried forward through the ages, and the inspiration for our photo shoot. It was an eclectic mix of "country charm" meets "vintage glam", set amongst the magical Empress trees of the Paulownia Plantation at Agnes Banks, NSW. "Something borrowed" is usually an item from a friend or family member whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride. With vintage furniture and decor becoming ever so popular, brides are often incorporating vintage inspired items such as ornate headpieces or jewellery worn by their mother to represent "something borrowed", and this often flows through to the style of wedding, with the use of charming old vintage furniture and props that you can see throughout the setting.

something blue As for the colour blue, it has been connected to weddings for centuries, dating back to ancient Rome where brides wore blue to symbolise love, modesty and fidelity. Splashes of blue were incorporated throughout our setup, from the lovely old velvet armchair to the pop of blue cornflowers and delphinium flowers turned into hand-tied bouquets, all finished with vintage blue lace bows. The three-tiered cake was simply breathtaking with blue incorporated throughout the edible lace detail in the middle tier, complementing the top and bottom tiers which were hand painted with antique silver and pearl, and decorated with the beauty of open sugar peonies. The elegant simplicity of the white sugar peony flowers which topped the cake flowed through to the white, crystal, chandelier cake stands that were used to display the cupcakes dressed with lace, petals and bows, to the delicate round scalloped cookies, sweet bride and groom cookies, and the vanilla bean macarons adorned with sugar veil lace detail.

The bride was dressed in a slimline, antique cream gown with lace and beaded detail, while her hair was in a classic updo style with an intricate design. The beautiful bridesmaids dressed in beaded teal blue gowns, with hair in soft vintage waves, also embodied the simple but elegant style. The theme for the makeup was glamour with a classic bridal flavour, which can be seen through the rich bronzed smoky eyes of the bride, and the copper and gold hues used on the bridesmaids to emphasise the vintage feel of the dresses and the setting.

Welcome to Storybrooke where the people are actually fairytale characters, snatched from their fairytale land and thrown into this real world. Come on the quest and celebrate Red Riding Hood’s birthday.

The theme started with the invitations, which was a Once Upon a Time book with each person given a character to play. At the party, the guests entered through the enchanted forest and were assigned to complete a quest, which led them to magical places such as Red Riding Hood’s House, the Evil Queens castle, the Dwarf’s Mine, Captain Hook’s Ship, the Gingerbread House, Geppetto’s Workshop, Mr Gold’s shop, the Troll Bridge and through the Wonderland

once upon a time Maze.

The objective was to win the quests in order to have the most gold to exchange for something precious in Mr Gold’s shop, just before the portal closed at 8pm. Fun party games were played throughout the journey such as Pass the Apple and the Parcel in the Evil Queen’s room and finding their way through the Wonderland Maze, which was built by my husband.

The guests also got to visit Granny’s Diner where they were served American Style Burgers and Hot Cocoa with Cinnamon. For dessert, there was birthday cake, which was eaten while playing a quiz relating to the series and a last chance to win gold.

The last stop for this magical quest was at Mr Gold’s shop where the guests counted their gold and the one with the most gold won a Once Upon a Time Charm Bracelet.

You are the number one party blogger in the world, what do you think has led to this success? It’s all so surreal, actually. I started KarasPartyIdeas.com five years ago as a place to showcase all of

the many parties I styled so people could get ideas and inspiration from them. At the time, there weren’t really any other party websites or blogs like it. I am also a secret computer nerd. I took HTML classes way back in high school when the Internet was brand new. I have always loved computers and web design. Only a few months after creating my blog, I started getting comments from people who loved my work. Those comments turned into viewers and clicks from across the globe. I was so surprised! I definitely never imagined it would turn into what it has. I still have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure this is all real.

When styling your own parties, what inspires you? I am most inspired by who is being celebrated. I have a special place in my heart for children’s parties. They’re just magical. Nothing is more rewarding that seeing a child’s face as they come into the party room on their big day. I love making them feel special and important. Every child should know how amazing and unique they are, especially on their birthday or when celebrating a special

We chose pink, peach and ivory as the main colours including for the backdrop, which worked well together and gave the overall party a pretty, soft look.

All the treats were pink, peach or ivory to match the colour scheme and the centrepiece on the dessert table was the peach coloured cake, which was wrapped with a white bow and had a beautiful ballerina standing on her tiptoes. The cake was placed on a pink stand that sat on two pale pink, suitcase style boxes decorated with a paper bow.

We used red, yellow and pale blue as the main colours. These bright tones were displayed beautifully in the dessert table backdrop as well as throughout the desserts.

s d n a l d o wo The theme for Emmerson’s 3rd birthday party was Woodland/Red Riding Hood as Red Riding Hood was her favourite book at the time. We used brown, red and green for the Woodland inspired colours.

The dessert table backdrop was a big, white sign with Emmerson’s name written on it, surrounded by colourful drawings of flowers, mushrooms and bunting. The table was covered in a soft, green fabric and laden with a variety of delicious desserts, most of which were in the theme colours. There were red and white toadstool-shaped cookies plus miniature toadstool-shaped treats in patches of grass to pick them out of, as well as lots of lollies in glass jars. The cake was in the shape of a tree stem with toadstools around it and a mini Little Red Riding Hood.

Favour bags and mini picnic baskets were decorated using Birds Party printables and the mini mushroom pegs were from eBay. We also had personalised chocolates and water bottle labels using printables by Vanilla Prints to match Birds Party printables.

p u n a m Why do girls get to have all the fun parties? If you’re like me you’ve probably asked yourself this a few times, albeit quietly, when none of your mates were around. Women can build a party over anything – getting engaged, having a baby, making some pretty cakes...even Tupperware can be as good a reason as any. On the other hand us men have birthdays and, well, buck’s nights. For most of us a party means being as loud as possible, as tough as possible and usually as drunk as possible – anything less is, unfortunately, considered soft.

It wasn’t always like this though. Imagine it’s 1955. Think of the words blokes’ night out – what do you see? Perhaps it’s Sean Connery getting splashed by the pool and saying “don’t worry, my martini’s still dry”. Maybe it’s a bloke standing by the fireplace, pouring his friends tumblers of scotch with one hand and lighting cigars with the other. What happened to these sorts of parties? When did being a gracious host who impresses his friends with good food and premium liquor get outmoded by strippers and beer pong?

The good news is that it really isn’t difficult to put together a dignified alternative to the usual booze up, whilst still maintaining that male camaraderie that makes catching up with your mates so fun. The key concept to understand is that the mature, worldly male is a living understatement – a working knowledge of good food and drink, a good sense of humour and a willingness to go the extra mile for your guests are a fare more telling sign of a man’s man than say, downing a keg and then being sick in your neighbours rosebush. The second, perhaps more important thing to realise is that it’s okay to be decorative.

It may help to think of it more in terms of presentation – good food is one thing, but food that is fun to simply look at elevates eating to a different level entirely. Not only does the food itself look more appetizing when it’s skilfully arranged, but it shows your mates that you’re making an effort for them, as well as telling them that you can be master of a kitchen (there are afterall a lot of famous male chefs).

And if you’re going to present something like food and drink, rather than just handing it out, nothing looks greater than an entire party presented as a whole – and yes, that means doing a bit of decorating. It’s perfectly possible for a party to have a motif, replete with recurring colours and visual themes, and still feel manly and comfortable. Deck your living room out like your grandad’s study, stick a fake moose head on the wall and serve a good, single malt whiskey in small tumblers. Offer up some hearty fare like lamb kofta or even a spicy pumpkin soup, and you’ve got yourself a ‘hunters night in’ – all the components of design and thematic elements that women are so good at using, but geared for you and your mates to have a great ‘blokes night in’.

When you get comfortable with this idea the possibilities are endless – drag some old chairs and a sofa onto the lawn, drink beer out of old - preferably clean - jars and snack on smoked salmon and dill for

Even desserts – so often tarred with the ‘that’s for girls’ brush – can easily find themselves at home in any man’s man gatherings (I don’t know a single bloke who doesn’t have a bit of a sweet tooth). Small, rich chocolates served with a plunger of freshly brewed coffee or tastefully decorated cakes or tarts – all the more impressive if you’ve made them yourself – will find many welcoming hands at any modern man’s party.

The point is all those things that made the girls parties seem like so much fun - the décor, the themes, and the little sweet treats - need not be exclusively feminine. Like anything, they can be geared to varying occasions, seasons, venues, and tastes. It doesn’t need to be bombastic, you aren’t designing a Las Vegas wedding , but with an interesting motif and some attention to detail, it’s easy to throw a party that is visually dynamic, intimate, exciting, and above all, manly.

Of course, being a three-year-old, he changed his mind about it every day until he finally settled on Pirates! I decided to focus more on the treasure aspect rather than lots of skulls and crossbones etc. to keep it age-appropriate and a little different than other Pirate parties I’ve previously seen.

The main colours used were black, gold and red, and we also added timber and hessian throughout the decorations.

I designed the dessert table backdrop, which was a handpainted treasure map on an oversized white sheet. I also made most of Max’s costume, the cake stands, most of the food, and sourced or made all the decorations as well as styled/decorated everything.

The cake, which was also created by me, had an open treasure chest with gold sitting on top of it to match the overall theme.

REAL PARTY

s e i k o o c milk and I was constantly changing my mind as to what I should do for Maxon’s 2nd birthday until I sat down and thought about what he really loved; milk. Milk and cookies. So there was my theme now to put it all together.

A colour scheme of mint green, chocolate brown and white were used in everything from the stationery to the lollies in the jars.

I designed the invitations with a simple image of a milk bottle and used that in the backdrop and all printables used to showcase the food.

A gorgeous vintage milk and cookies stand was hired and some yummy cookies in the shape of moustaches, milk bottles, the number two and the letter M, along with some dinosaurs thrown in for good measure (completely out of style but Maxon loves dinosaurs).

I made the three tiered M cake along with the Oreo cookie pops and cupcakes. Mint, vanilla and chocolate milk bottles were placed in hand painted jars with white moustaches stamped on the lids.

Little goodie bags filled with cookies and lollies were given to each of the guests as they left.

Have a tray of pre-made decorated cookies to help guide the kids on designs. Also have a few printed images of other animals/skins if they would like to customise their own edible masterpiece. The kids will be so proud of their own creations they probably won’t want to eat it at the party, so ensure you have some themed show bags or boxes for them to take home their animal creations.

Another option is for your own kids to prepare the cookies/cup-cakes prior to the party and have as beautiful one off personally hand-made thank-you gifts for all the kids to take home instead of/or with the lolly bag. Don’t forget to save a few for yourselves or for the party table as everyone will love and want one!

VANILLA COOKIE RECIPE Notes: make the night before so the cookie dough has time

make believe To a child, the world of Make Believe is everything. Everything is wondrous and magic is part of their everyday. That age of wonder lasts for the blink of an eye and the only reminders we have are the wellworn costumes and our fading memory.

Choosing to photograph your children at any age is an enormous gift to them. We get the pleasure of capturing the kids as we see them and it’s a wonderful reminder for us, but just imagine if someone handed you a photo you’d never seen of yourself as a kid, playing with your favourite toy, or enjoying your favourite game. There are few things more precious than being transported back to what it felt like to be a child again.

When we think of photographing our children, we tend to want photos of them dressed beautifully, smiling for the camera. That smile is what we live for, so we do everything we can to catch it. What often gets forgotten is the things that make our children smile like that. They have a little world that is unique to them. For my sons it was the world of the super-hero. They couldn’t explore what it meant to be Spiderman or Batman enough! I’d watch them play and see the way in which they threw themselves into the roles they were playing and I would itch to photograph them. Those photographs are now amongst my most treasured possessions as I not only have a record of their darling little selves in their outlandish costumes, but we now have a time machine that takes us back to their world of Make Believe.

When I met Tamika, Jasmine and Angus they were bursting with ideas for their shoot. They had everything from clown outfits to a pirate’s hook! We narrowed the choices down to their favourites and headed into the forest to play. I only really have one rule when it comes to photographing Make Believe; the costumes have to be their idea, so when the girls got into the Spiderman costumes we ran with it! Over the next few hours the kids explored, played pirates, caught a ladybug and made daisy chains in the soft fading light of the pine forest.

The result is a beautiful collection of photographs of them playing and dreaming that they’ll cherish as time goes by and their world of imagination fades.

FIVE TIPS FOR YOUR OWN MAKE BELIEVE SITTING Find the perfect photographer - this will be someone who really loves children, finds magic in the everyday, knows their way around a camera of course and is great at playing the Pied Piper!

Let the children dress themselves - You know that time your son came out with his undies over the top of his Superman costume because that’s how Superman wears them? That’s what we’re looking for. These are the little things that will make you laugh in years to come.

Encourage your children to dream up their own ideas - I guess it goes without saying that it’s their world of imagination you’re exploring, so don’t be tempted to dream it up for them. You’ll be surprised at what magical worlds are in their heads.

Choose a location that they love - The right location is going to enhance their story. It could be the beach, your garden or even their room.

What matters is that they’re comfortable and they enjoy it.
