THE PARTY ANIMALS OF THE JUNGLE DON THEIR NEONS AND HEAD TO THE BIG BRIGHT CITY IN THIS FUN THEME.
Go wild! Our party muse was turning three and we wanted something reflective of her personality, as well as a little retro and cool. Enter the Urban Jungle! The inspiration for the party was the popular party animals theme, with Central Park Zoo and a touch of 80's and 90's style neon design elements thrown in for good measure!

diy time IDEAS AND HACKS TO CREATE YOUR URBAN JUNGLE THEME
DIY LEVEL: mid
CENTREPIECES You can easily make sturdy and significanty sized centrepieces if you've got good control with an X-acto knife and a little patience. These ones were simply a thick backing, and a paper printout cut to shape and glued together. Officeworks have several options for the backing, incuding signboard or thick cardboard. 1. Print out desired shape and cut by hand 2. Adhere to thick backing material and cut using X-acto knife 3. Print a pattern on a large piece of paper (enough to cover shape) 4. Using the backing as a guide, cut out the patterned paper and stick to backing.
PARTY HATS The easiest way to add fun! Find a pattern, cut a template, add a pom pom and you're done! There are a couple of ways these can be made, but using A3 paper lined up with three hats is cost effective and less wasteful.

Download the free printable here to print and cut a template that can be used as a guide to trace out your hats on pre-bought paper or a digital paper that you can print at home (Etsy has lots of digital papers).

ANIMAL DESSERT WALLS There is no limit to what you can create when you draw, trace and cut. Our elephant and giraffe dessert walls were created by drawing large shapes directly on to thick MDF board, which were then cut with a jigsaw and painted white. You'll definately need someone confident with power tools for this one though.
BALLOON GARLAND
DIY LEVEL: mid
It's not always easy to beat a professional finish when it comes to balloons, but with patience you can create some amazing decor to complement other areas of your party. We used these instructions and created an additional garland for our photobooth area. You can also buy DIY balloon kits here.
MAKE YOUR OWN CARDBOARD SIGN DIY LEVEL: pro
You can easily make your own colourful party signage by using layers of cardboard. Local newsagents will have large sheets of board in an abundance of colours (and maybe even thicknesses) to play with. You can draw or trace your design on to the card, and cut with either scissors or an X-acto knife. Using multiple layers (the same or different colours) adds interest and dimension to your sign. This is such a fun idea, and depending on how well the final version turns out, can be saved and used as a keepsake.
