" Visits a Country School" Norman Rockwell
November 2, 1946. Oil on two joined photographs. 9.5 X 21.25 in.
In the days before standardized tests, teachers had the freedom to tailor their curricula to encourage students to create, innovate, imagine, and think differently. Norman Rockwell represented in this painting a scene that pretty much sums up what schools should mean generally. Freedom to learn under the tutelage of a person discover their world and teach them to choose and think for themselves.
