WEEK 1

The two curve loft allowed me to generate some interesting patterns. Through mixing sharp and curved lines, I was able to start making distinctions between how to create a more flowing surface compared to one which was more twisted and cruel.

3 CURVE LOFT

With the three loft curve I could add in an extra feature. By lofting both really smooth and really sharp geometries, I could create more twists and turns, and make the lofts look more chaotic.


WEEK 1

The four loft curves allowed me to push the shape into something completely crazy, almost like a scrunched up piece of paper. Although not always truly aesthetically pleasing, they were still interesting and I enjoyed how they seemed to move in their own way.

TRIANGULATION

The triangulation geometries using the Vornoid and Delaunay and OctTree generated some interesting shapes. I like the 3D Vornoid as I could see it being used in a real life architectural setting somehow. I tried to render out the images and also with linework however the results weren’t as pretty as I had hoped.


WEEK 2

BOX MORPH

I am happy with how the box morphs came out. By putting them through different surfaces, I was able to create some interesting shapes and apply them onto a human body. On the next page, I think about half of the iterations were succsful. Some did not fit to the body as expected, however I am happy to have gotten a nice range of outcomes from changing the parameters.



WEEK 3

CULL PATTERNS

The cull patterns were a bit hit ans miss. The original on the left I really think came out well. I think the crossover pattern was interseting and resembled something like a cross-stitch. By piping it, the effect was interesting. The second cubed was to try and make something more rigid and ‘electronic’. By extruding the linework it looked similar to a facade that could be on the outside of a building.


IMAGE SAMPLER

For my controversial image I chose Derrin Hinch. At the time he had been frequeting the media due to some of his opinions and statements. I personally think the middle image came out the best. The original left image was too dark and made it difficult to destinguis his face. The second I used a cull pattern so that many of the circles were gotten rid of to allow for more definition. The third image on the right I piped the circles - however it again went quite blurry and was a bit unsuccesful.


WEEK 4

FIELD LINES


It was fun to play with the different types of field lines. At first I found it difficult but after playing around I got there. I particularly like the ones on the very right. The ones on the left I put into a Populate 3D which gave it those lines which seemed to be hanging down.

WEEK 5


I am really happy with how my iterations came out after I had put given them some 3D depth and piped them or exctruded them. The shapes became really interesting, and I enjoyed toggling with the different graph types to create the different shapes. Overall I think my iterations were a success, particularly the one on the left here.


WEEK 6

Using the text tags to see points on a list and within a data structure, it is helpful to look at how simplifying, grafting and flattening changes the data. Flattening helps to allow us to see the data as a singular and much more succint list. This takes away the unnecessary scramble of the lists so we can visualise it better. When you graft, you make individual smaller lists with only a single item in each list, again allowing for us to differentiate between points and components. It just makes it more simple to look at the data in a list so its less crumpled. Flattening the data puts it into a more simplified or easier to use order. I was able to watch the data numbers on the sphere when I was doing it how they would order more numerically and neatly instead of being jumbled. It also helped me to understand how you do not necessarily need to use the components in grasshopper but can just use the tags by right clicking making it much less bulky.
