Connor Hayward owns all the intellectual rights to these designs. The typeface Bebas Neue, is a free typeface that was designed by Ryoichi Tsunekawa, at the Dharma Type Foundry. The typefaces Bauer Bodoni & Adobe Caslon Pro were both purchased by SUNY Fredonia’s VANM department. For my project I utilized Adobe Creative Cloud Master Suite, purchased by Connor Hayward.The Logo, collateral, and packaging designs were created by Connor Hayward.

Semiotics Essay The logo for jealousy uses semiotics to establish the forms. I use two different forms of semiotics in my logo; symbol and index. My logo consists of a lower case j and a connected arm/ hand reaching for the tittle of the jay. The idea behind the logo is that the hand is reaching for something that doesn’t belong to it, the tittle, which illustrates the ideas of jealousy. This reaching hand creates a indexical representation of jealousy because it is something that is associated with the emotion. The type under the log and the lower case j display a symbol of jealousy. Symbols are often learned representations of ideas, and the alphabet is a set of abstract forms that collectively create a learned language.

The colors I used in my brand identity, the type I used,

and the ornament I used in my chocolate bar illustrates a representation of my emotion as well. The most recognized color associated with jealousy is red, which is why I used it for my identity. The ornament creates the idea of a hand made product to help link the product with the complexity of the emotion. The type I used in the chocolate bar is a Bodoni italics, which is a modernized version of the old style typeface Baskerville. I though this was a more modern typeface that would like the product to the human emotion.
