NEWS KSA CC Group has been assigned to design the headquarters building tower of Cayan Real Estate Investment & Development LLC in the heart of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The iconic tower is to be built on a plot along the King Fahed road, which is considered the city’s main business spine. This 13 floor tower will house commercial and office space of 18,000 m2 including the three underground floors for parking areas and other services. On one part of the building façade, a huge broadcasting screen is to be placed located on top, used to promote and advertise all projects related to Cayan. The dedicated space of the screen is almost 3 stories high. Towards the street level, there is a podium 10 meters high that will be fitted for rent to commercial and retail use.

Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2015 is where the future of Abu Dhabi’s master plan & key developments are being revealed. With over 15,000 participants in attendance, Cityscape Abu Dhabi is the opportunity to build and maintain a good presence in Abu Dhabi’s real estate market.

Brazil The Consolidated Consultants (CC) Group recently took part in “Innovative Infrastructure Solutions” an international conference organized by the International Federation for Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The conference comes as a conclusion of a seven-month long training to enhance the participants’ skills in business management, human resources and sustainable design. With 1,000 global players and partners in the infrastructure and industrial sectors, the conference addressed global construction issues, expanding the participants’ knowledge and expertise

in international engineering practices. Samer Ayyash, Director of Electrical Engineering Division at CC Group, said: “During the course of the conference, we aimed to present Jordan as one of the pioneering countries in the field of architectural design and CC Group as a premier company in construction consultancy”. He added, “Our participation presented us with a unique opportunity to exchange opinions and expertise about best global construction practices with the leaders of the field, which would help us improve the architectural sector in Jordan. Waters,Riyadh

The bigest Factory in the Middel East

The new Nestle Waters Factory is considered the largest industrial faciility in the Middle East located in Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On a land area of 132,000, the project will accommodate NestlÊ’s Waters headquarters, raw water underground tank, water bottling factory, distribution, technical, workshop and laboratory buildings. Total construction cost is 140 Million SAR; approximately 37.5 million US dollars. CC Group is conducting the architectural, building design, environmental impact assessment (EIA), soft and hard landscape and construction supervision services.

RTA Multi-storey Car Parking Dubai, UAE

RTA multi-storey car parking is a 60 Million AED project with a total built up area of 25,000 m2. The 6-storey building fits a capacity of 900 cars. The design of the building is made to include a future 4 storey expansion that will total the built-up area to 45,000m2. The additional 4 floors above the parking will accommodate offices and 2 bridge connections to RTA’s existing headquarters. Our scope of work covers the Architectural, Building Engineering, Landscape Design & Constriction Supervision.

Queen Alia International Airport Highway Consolidated Consultants Group was appointed by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to Evaluate and Upgrade Queen Alia International Airport Road. As the largest airport in Jordan, Queen Alia International Airport primarily serves the kingdom’s capital, Amman. Therefore Queen Alia Road is one of the most vital existing highways . Its location and its connectivity to Queen Alia Airport has turned it into a high demand highway, in need of rehabilitation to satisfy the ever-growing needs of drivers. Consolidated Consultants has allocated its highly equipped team of engineers along with its resources into making this design a successful and an efficient one. The 100 Million USD project consisted of evaluating and upgrading the existing road by replacing the 4-lane-divided with steel guard rail with a six-lane-limited access highway divided with concrete barriers. It also includes the design of a 2-lane service road on both sides of the main highway taking into consideration the safety measures, and the proper connections between both roads using underpasses. The project required necessary studies like Feasibility Study, and Environmental Study as well. www.group-cc.com

Few months left for the completion of the Information Technology Communications Complex’s second phase. It is part of a 1.65 Billion USD Smart City Project, the first in the Saudi Kingdom; aiming to attract the world’s leading Information Technology and Communications (ITC) companies. The project is being developed by Rayadah Investment Company, the investment arm of the government’s Public Pensions Agency (PPA). The 776,000m² area project will nest a number of projects including administration buildings for ITC companies, technical business centers, buildings for research, training, development, and software production companies, hotels, restaurants, a convention center, residential apartments, a technical college and some government-related service buildings. CC Group were involved in conducting the Traffic Studies, Supervision of Construction of the infrastructure work for 106 Villas, 96 Apartment Buildings, 4 schools, a Mosque & a Grand Mosque, a Commercial Center, a Sport Club Building, Supporting Facilities, and Automated Waste Collection System, in addition to obtain the LEED certification for the entire project.

CC Group, WSP appointed independent engineers’ for QAIA expansion project Phase II- Jordan

Consolidated Consultants (CC) Group, has recently been appointed for the second time, along with WSP, as independent engineers responsible for overseeing and designing the second phase of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) expansion project, after similarly overseeing and designing the project’s first phase. “Our role in this project goes hand in hand with our mission to enhance Jordan’s standing in the engineering and architecture fields. We see in this project, designed to the highest international standards, a unique paradigm shift for the country,” said Issam Balbisi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CC Group.

Phase II will increase the capacity of the airport to reach 12 million passengers per year and it will serve passengers through a total of 14 contact gates; 7 in Phase I and an additional 7 in Phase II apportioned between the north and south peer. The under-construction phase will include a number of stateof-the-art facilities such as a new temporary & seasonal peak period remote boarding lounges, a main terminal and central unit that will comprise of a basement for the baggage conveyor systems, storage and MEP services, ground floor for the arrivals hall & baggage reclaim hall, arrivals level, departures level, and a partial mezzanine floor to accommodate a CIP (Crown) lounge.

A Strategic Study for Truck Movements in the Road network for the Eastern Province

S P E C I A L I Z E D S T U D I E S dimension Consolidated Consultants Group, WSP and the UK’s Freight Transport Association have been commissioned by the Eastern Province Traffic Safety Council to undertake a Strategic Study for Truck Movements in the Road Network for the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the study is to assess and identify issues and problems with regards to truck traffic in the Eastern Province and to subsequently develop a comprehensive strategic plan with time scales and estimated costs for the short, medium and long term actions. Specific objectives include: 1. Review current trucks movement in the Eastern Province. 2. Identify all routes, links and interchanges where there are congestion. 3. Develop a method that identify major origin-destinations for the goods movements in the Province 4. Develop 10-20 year action plan with thirty years’ time horizon to address issues that helps and regulate the movements of trucks in the area. The main reasons for conducting the study of truck movements in the Eastern Province are: 1. Congestion along links and junctions

2. Continued growth of truck traffic in the province 3. Increasing number of accidents involving trucks 4. Truck violations with regards to overloading and over-heights 5. Excessive speed on inter-urban highways 6. Damage to the road pavement due to axle overloading 7. Lack of regular use of the existing axle load stations 8. The need for additional axle load stations 9. Review of regulations related to the transport of hazardous material 10. The need for regulation of truck movements within the urban areas 11. The lack of and use of truck parking facilities 12. The lack of a coherent and effective plans for the control of trucks entering the urban areas 13. The need to improve road signing related to the control of trucks on intern urban and urban highways 14. The need to review the level is skills of existing truck drivers and the need for additional training. 15. The need to control the numbers of working hours of truck drivers and their assistants (if any)

It is with great sadness that we, at Consolidated Consultants Group, mourn the death of internationally recognized Arab architect, chief architect and former chairman of the Group’s board of directors, Dr. Jafar Tukan. A landmark in the architectural design sector, Dr. Tukan made significant contributions to the architecture scene in Jordan and the world, creating a new and unique school of architecture. Throughout his career, he was a torch illuminating the path of architects in Jordan and the Arab world. On this sorrowful occasion, we assure everyone that although Dr. Tukan has left us, his thoughts and ideals remain with us though his many accomplishments and teachings, which he was always eager to pass on to the dedicated team of engineers and architects in the Group. A visionary architect, Dr. Tukan held an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Architecture from Jordan University of Science and Technology and a Bachelors of Architectural Engineering Degree from the American University of Beirut. He was the recipient of many regional and international awards for his work, most notable of which is the Order of Al Hussein Medal for Distinguished Giving of the First Class, which he received from His

Majesty King Abdullah II in appreciation for his distinguished efforts in the engineering and Arab and Islamic Architecture fields, in addition to the esteemed Aga Khan 2001 Award for Architecture. He also received a certificate of appreciation from Her Majesty Queen Noor in consideration for his valuable efforts made in the development of the Jordanian National Museum of Fine Arts in 1990. Over the course of his career, Dr. Tukan was recognized by the Arab Cities Organization on several occasions, as he was the winner of the organization’s Award for Arab Architects and Architecture in 2002 for his design of Amman Municipality’s City Hall building, Arab Architect Award for the year 1992-1993, and the World Habitat Award and Architectural Project Award for The City of Amman in 1998 for his designs of SOS Children’s Village. Dr. Tukan also received a certificate of appreciation from the Jordan Engineers Association for Best Architecturally Designed Building for the year 1993, the Arab Insurance Building. He was also awarded the Jordan Engineers Association Award for the best presentation of an architectural project in 1993. Dr. Tukan also received Al-Madina Award for Architecture 1997 for a theology school in Medina, Saudi

In addition to the various recognitions he received, Dr. Tukan was also an active member in many professional organizations and associations. These include the Jordanian Architecture Association, Lebanese Order of Engineers and Architects, Kuwait Society of Engineers, Petra Region Planning Council, 1996 – 1997, and the Architectural Theme of Aqaba Committee, 1989. He was also a member of Board of Trustees of Jordan University, Executive Board of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Architectural Heritage and Classic Buildings Committee, 1988, the Committee for Modern Buildings and Architectural Heritage, Petra Architectural Committee, 1995. Dr. Tukan also took part in the Executive Board for S.O.S Children’s Village in Jordan, the Greater Amman Municipal Council 1987 – 1994, the Local Committee (Zahran District and Jbeiha District) of Greater Amman Municipality 1987 – 1994, the Executive Board of Jordan River Foundation, Amman Beautification Committee, 1987 – 1984, the Jerash Festival Committee, 1994-1996, and the Haya Cultural Center for Children. Village in Jordan and the Jordan Society for Development (Bani Hamida), Dr. Tukan was also a visiting lecturer of architecture at Jordan University. Dr. Tukan was a key player in the construction design field in Jordan and the Arab world, marking many milestones throughout his career in the engineering sector. J A F A R T U K A N A T E L I E R dimension Our Group held a memorial ceremony for the late Engineer Jafar Tukan at the Jordan Museum. The ceremony was attended by HRH Prince Ra’ad bin Zeid, HRH Princess Majda Ra’ad, and HRH Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi. Several ministers and representatives from professional associations and the media, in addition to the Tukan family and friends, were also in attendance. Former Prime Minister Taher Al-Masri recounted Tukan’s virtues and journey, noting the late engineer’s love for Amman; its cultural heritage and identity. He added that Tukan derived his love for his country from his late father and aunt, celebrated poets Ibrahim and Fadwa Tukan. His Excellency Mr. Akel Biltaji, the Mayor of Amman, said Tukan left his footprints across the region through his various architectural designs and works, which lie as a testament to his creativity. He spoke of the special consideration the Greater Amman Municipality holds for the late engineer, who designed its main building as well as the Jordan Museum. Biltaji also announced a competition the municipality will launch under the name of Jafar Tukan, to design the “Arabic Army Court” in Abdali. Abdullah Obeidat, Jordan Engineering

Association President, called Tukan the “Dean of Jordanian Architecture.” Tukan’s upbringing in a creative environment, he added, contributed to igniting the engineer’s architectural creativity. Obeidat announced that the Association is considering establishing a special school of Islamic architecture, with Jafar Tukan’s work as one of its main pillars. He further stated that the architectural engineering awards for students’ graduation projects will be called the “Jafar Tukan Awards,” in honor of the late engineer’s role in developing the concept of architectural engineering. Dr. Natheer Abu Obeid, President of the German Jordanian University, emphasized Tukan’s role and interest in the academic disciplines of architectural engineering. He added that Tukan’s works suited their time and space and displayed a freedom

of visual expression, emitting a sense of belonging and longing for their place. Engineer Shadi Abdul Salam said Tukan considered the drawing of buildings like music. He stated that Tukan elevated architecture, shaping an artful image that impacts anyone who looks deep into it and recognizes its elegance. Dr. Shadia Tukan said the late engineer believed in the importance of team work, and was always known for supporting the youth and adopting their talents and creativity. Tukan’s son, Ibrahim, expressed his appreciation of the attendees’ wellremembrance of his father during the ceremony, emphasizing his pride in his father’s honorable journey and the love he earned during his life, which was filled with giving.
