Ohio Forestry Association Holds Annual Paul Bunyan Show

The Ohio Forestry Association held its annual Official Paul Bunyan Show Oct. 1 to 3 at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds, Cambridge, Ohio. Billed as, “The Original American Forestry Show,” and the oldest event of its kind, the three-day event attracted forest industry professionals from throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. More than 100 exhibitors were on hand to show off the latest equipment, services and products geared to the forest industry. Numerous educational sessions, including a seminar on understanding the new EPA required Tier IV Level emission terms on engines were offered. The event featured a loader competition, sponsored by John Deere Construction and Forestry Company and Leslie Equipment Co. Other activities included the Ohio State lumberjack championships, an international lumberjack competition and heavy equipment demonstrations. Ohio State University Plays Host to 48th Annual Farm Science Review
O
hio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences held its 48th annual Farm Science Review at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center near London, Ohio, Sept. 21 to 23. The three-day outdoor agricultural trade-show featured nearly 600 commercial exhibitors representing about 4,000 equipment lines on display at the 2,100-acre Molly Caren Agricultural Center. In addition to the equipment on display, there also were educational displays presented by Ohio State and state and federal agencies. According to show officials, 125,000 to 145,000 visitors were expected to attend. The event, which run by OSU’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with help from the OSU Extension and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, also featured equipment demonstrations, conservation awards and programs and craft activities. There were field demonstrations included harvesting, tillage and a hands-on global positioning presentation.

Frey & Sons Auctioneers Holds Sale for DiPietro Excavating
F
rey & Sons Auctioneers held a sale Oct. 6 for DiPietro Excavating Inc. at the company’s yard in East Canton, Ohio. DiPietro Excavating arranged the sale after the company decided to downsize its operations and looked to sell off excess equipment. The auction was absolute and unreserved with the exception of a few items. A few additional consignments also were included in the auction. Among some of the featured equipment up for bid were late model Caterpillar and John Deere excavators, Caterpillar, John Deere and Komatsu dozers and a late model Volvo articulated dump truck as well as a selection of backhoes and skid steers.
