Citizens of Mead, there has been a recent increase in vehicle trespasses around town. Several subdivisions have fallen victim to these vehicle trespasses. So far three subdivisions have been hit including Feather Ridge, North Creek and Coyote Run. The suspect has been targeting unlocked vehicles and stealing things they deem of value. As a friendly reminder, to keep yourselves from falling victim, please ensure you lock your vehicles, house ,and close your garage doors. As many know there has been an increase in thefts, burglaries, and vehicle trespasses over the past year or two. Protect yourself and your valuables by taking steps to deter these events. No vehicles reported have been forcefully entered. Thanks, Deputy Pihlak
Carbon Valley Help Center Empty Bowls Project
Carbon Valley Help Center is excited to be hosting the “First Annual Empty Bowls Project.” We are located in Firestone, CO and was established in 2012 with the following mission: "To help people in immediate need move toward self-sufficiency by unifying Carbon Valley resources." At the event for a modest donation, attendees select a unique hand painted bowl made by a local artist or community member, and select a meal of soup, bread and dessert donated by area restaurants and caterers. They get to enjoy the meal with family and friends. The bowl is theirs to keep as a reminder of those who face hunger every day. A silent auction featuring the works of local artist will also be featured. This event will help to raise awareness of hunger and homelessness in the Carbon Valley area. All proceeds will be used to provide food and resources to the clients of the Carbon Valley Help Center. It will be held at Frederick High School 5690 Tipple Parkway, Frederick, Colorado on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The Help Center is looking for volunteers and sponsors for this project. For more information regarding how you can help by volunteering or sponsoring this event visit the Carbon Valley Help Center Facebook or email us at www.carbonhelpcenter.org or info@carbonvalleyhelpcenter.org or call the Help Center at (303) 833.6626. MEAD MAYOR, GARY SHIELDS The past several months have certainly been busy in and around Mead and I have sincerely enjoyed all of the seasonal celebrations and community functions both as an observer of our community and as a participant whenever possible. I have to admit that each year around this time; I look forward to settling down just a little bit and enjoying the quieter holidays that are shared with family and close friends. I like to reflect on Thankfulness throughout the month of November, especially in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. I do not participate in a formal 30 day challenge nor do I share all that I am thankful for with just anyone. I do however try to spend a little time each day reflecting on everything from personal relationships to daily circumstances and all things that I am thankful for in each circumstance.
I believe that with so much going on in the world to distract us, it is very easy to forget or overlook the people, relationships and lessons that we are blessed with each and every day and to take them for granted. I would like to encourage you all to set aside some time during the month of November and get to a quiet place away from daily distractions and to ask yourself, “What am I thankful for”? If you are thankful for a particular person or relationship, I would also encourage you to share that with them personally.
Nov. 4th Happy 1st Birthday Jace! We love you and you are the best little budder ever! Love, Dad, Mom and Steve Nov. 7th. Happy 10th Birthday Steve! We love you bunches. Dad, Mom & Jace

Changing My Perspective
by Tiffany // October 13, 2014 Saturday, was Isaac’s Fund Chili Cook Off and Silent Auction. Personally, I was really nervous to see how many people would come out and support the Crane family, especially after I received such a nasty response from a previous Chamber board member about the Chamber
sponsoring the event. Up until Saturday morning, we estimated that there would be around 13 chili entries, 30 silent auction items and between 40-50 individuals attending the Chili Cook Off. Needless, to say I did not have high expectations for the funds we would bring in for the family. Come Saturday at 12:30 p.m. everyone involved in planning the event. We had so many bring Chili entries that we actually had a difficult time keeping up. There ended up being 23 different chili’s entered into the contest. By the time we got everything set up and going for the silent auction portion, we had 50 items. At best guess there were anywhere between 125 – 200 people that came out to support Isaac’s Fund

Isaac’s Fund Chili Cook Off Photo Booth
Many of you know that I have been extremely frustrated trying to find my place in the professional world, while still taking an active and balanced role with my family. I am going to be honest and say that, watching all of these people from our community come together to support this local family really helped to put things into perspective for me. Watch Jenna and Jeremiah enjoy every moment together and with Isaac’s older sister Natalie, made me remember how blessed I am and how grateful I feel to have met them. Professional success is about more than money and prestige, it is also about giving back and making a difference. My professional life may not have gone in the direction that I originally planned; that is not necessarily a bad thing. The career decisions I have made allow me to drop off and pick my children up from school each day, they allow me to be minutes away in case of emergency, they allow me to attend concerts and after school activities, they allow me to be an active parent. In reality the most important job I have is that of mom and wife, and while I know I am not super mom, I am doing my best to be a mom and wife deserving of the family I have created. In time I will figure out what direction to take with my career path, as for now, I am happy to have gained some serious perspective over the last few weeks. All in all, I would have to say I am in a pretty good place in all areas of my life and it is going to get better in time. I am sure that the next few months and years are bound to bring more opportunities and changes, I cannot wait to see what is yet to come.
