Ritchie Brothers - Mead What goes on there really?
By Jan Sciacca Many of us remember the vast open fields on the eastern side of I-25, south of Highway 66, before Ritchie Brothers “came to town.” I suppose many folks in the area are educated as to what goes on there but I suspect I’m not alone when I admit that I know RB is a big auction company that nearly every town in northern Colorado wanted to call their own. I know it was a major coup for Mead when Ritchie Brothers settled there. Every time there’s an upcoming auction, I see a gradual and then a rapid build-up of machinery, cars, trucks, buses, fire trucks and all types of equipment that I don’t have a clue what the name of it is or what it’s used for. Of course, I could go check it out instead of “going with the flow” of traffic on I-25. After a couple of glances to the east, I’ve traveled past the site, only to wonder the same thing, the next time I pass. Last month, I had the privilege of meeting and talking with Bryan Stonecipher, Regional Operations Manager for Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers at the main building in Mead at 4444 Ritchie Dr. Mead’s Summer Festival is June 14 and Bryan was interested in hearing how Ritchie Brothers might assist Mead in making the 4-8 p.m. event in Mead Town Park a huge success.

Colorado Drywall Supply
by Jan Sciacca It’s 6 a.m. and this business is awake and bustling. It’s exemplary business as usual, as customers start arriving for their goods. Since it faces I-25 by Hwy 66, it’s easy in, easy out. There’s no time wasted and no unnecessary trips that need to be made to the Denver metropolitan complex. If you think of your favorite drive-in fast food, this business brags that they are the equivalent when it comes to filling the orders of their customers. Most of this early morning group, knows what they need. After all, “time is money.” This description sounds like Mead has just added a new specialized food drive-in. Instead, Colorado Drywall has added a northern Colorado branch to satisfy new and existing drywall contractors. In the few short months the company has been open in Mead, Colorado Drywall Supply has served customers from the Front Range Corridor, mountain regions of Colorado to our northern neighbors in Wyoming. Ed Sleeman and Ann Monroe Sleeman started Colorado Drywall Supply in 1997 to fill a void in the wholesale and retail distribution of drywall and joint treatment accessory items, steel stud framing, fasteners, insulation, CertainTeed and USG ceiling tile and grid systems and tools. The Mission of Colorado Drywall Supply is to provide you with the highest quality products and unmatched service. The company focuses on contractors with wholesale offerings and to the “Do It Yourself customers” with retail products and advice. They offer products for both residential and commercial applications. As a “service provider” Colorado Drywall Supply’s goal is to help you finish your job on time and budget with exceptional service and competitive pricing structure. Their stocking equipment includes boom and flatbed trucks. They have a crane boom that will reach most five story buildings. They also have crews that can stock any job you require. I visited Colorado Dry Wall Supply on the day of its grand opening and ribbon cutting. I was excited to meet co-owner Ed, as well as Manager David Brink. Ed has found a very good manager in David and consequently Ed spends most of his days managing affairs at the

The 2nd Annual Mead Summer Festival is quickly approaching. Last year the Summer Festival was a huge success; this year looks to be even better yet. The goal of this event is to showcase local businesses while connecting the essence and camaraderie of the “Boil & Boogie.” This year Mead businesses or Mead Area Chamber of Commerce members are invited to reserve a booth to promote their products or services, however each business or vendor is also asked to provide a family friendly activity in an effort to attract the residents and families of the area. Also the M.A.C.C. will have an obstacle course for kids, the i-Spy Mead contest, prizes/giveaways, a live band, numerous food trucks/vendors and a beer garden. For information on sponsorship/prize donations or volunteering at the Summer Festival, please contact Tiffany Holcomb via phone 720.209.9701 or email tiffany@meadchamberofcommerce.com. Join us at the Mead Summer Festival on June 14th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
