Noble Roman’s Pizza Offers “You Bake or We Bake” By Jan Sciacca
J
oe Hebert and his son Dave have teamed up to start Colorado’s Noble Roman’s Franchises. Dave has always dreamed of owning his own business, and worked for many years in food service. The Heberts had a little money to invest, and thought they would give it a go. After looking at several different franchise opportunities, they found Noble Roman’s to have a solid franchise structure and excellent growth potential. What really sold them though was when they tried the pizza. It has been quite a busy year for the Heberts as they have opened three

They have recently entered into numerous agreements for stand-alone models. The Noble Roman’s business is thriving. What makes the Noble Roman model unique is that pizzas are offered as “baked or take-n-bake.” Customers have the choice of picking up their pizzas baked and ready, or preparing them when they are ready in the comfort of their home. Delivery is offered at the Erie location

Many other places add soy fillers to save money. That’s not the case at Noble Roman’s. Dave boasts, “All the meats and cheeses on the pizzas are

Their pizza sauce, which is never frozen and never from concentrate, is stirred with vine-ripened tomatoes, Italian spices and parmesan cheese. Jaime Diesing is the General Manager of the Erie store. Jaime is a local and has been a Hebert family friend for over 15 years. Dave describes Jaime as “doing an outstanding job of hand picking the Erie staff so that we can continue to offer and maintain excellent customer service while we make ourselves known in the area.” The Erie Noble Roman’s staff consists of several local high school students and adults alike, who strive to give customers the best experience possible. Dave also wants the community to know Noble Roman’s is currently hiring delivery drivers at all locations. He says his job offerings might be helpful for anyone who is interested in making some extra money for the holidays, or a great 2nd or part time job. Full time is also available. Noble Roman’s is also looking for kids who are looking for an after school job. Dave and his wife Lisa recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Lisa works at the Longmont location and fills in elsewhere when needed. In addition to Noble Roman’s, she owns “Oak Tree Images”, a photography business. Dave and Lisa have three boys: Caleb 13, Jake 8, and Aiden 3. When away from the three bustling stores, Dave enjoys golfing, fishing, and supporting his sons in their school, sports, and Boy Scout activities. Dave is grateful to the Erie community for being so welcoming. He continues, “We

What’s On My Mind
Vol. 1, Issue 12
Kelly Martindale, Publisher
Neighborhood Watch And the Man in Control “How can you trust a God who lets your child die?” my friend yelled at me. I sat across from her not really knowing how to reply. Some people thought I was an idiot for continuing to trust and love God. That number grew after my second child died, like the first, from a tragic auto accident. Now, as I face the holidays, I am again faced with a choice as my other two kids and I will each be separated and in different parts of North America. What is the choice? To trust God EVEN IF something bad happens while we are away from each other. Am I scared? Sometimes, quite a lot. Most times, not at all. How? After Alisha died, I prayed every day that God would protect us and not allow another death of one of my children. And nearly every time I prayed that prayer, I would hear Him say, “But you know, I am always here with you no matter what happens.” I know, with every part of my being, that God is right here with me. I am NEVER alone. I believe what God tells me. I watched a video on Facebook about the thousands of refugees fleeing their country every day, fearing for their lives and the lives of their children and other family members. With nothing but the clothes on their backs, they pile into rubber boats and make their way to Lesbos Island in Greece. They are separated from their loved ones. Will they make it to land? Will they be reunited? Or will their boat drift to shore empty? I wonder if the refugees know God is with them, no matter what. Do they know the Lord loves them and grieves over what is happening around the world? I’ll be honest, I’m torn about the refugee issue.
I’m fearful of who else gets into our country. I found myself looking at the individuals on the boat and wondering if the two or three young adult males were terrorists.
The right thing to do is to help those in need, those with nothing; no home, no money, no jobs, no clothes, no food. They are human beings, like myself. The right thing to do is to help those in need, those with nothing; no home, no money, no jobs, no clothes, no food. They are human beings, like myself. As a believer of Jesus Christ, I may find myself in the exact same situation someday. I need to trust God for wisdom on who to trust and who to help. This particular situation is about people not politics and I need to trust that God will protect us. We all need to be praying for His wisdom and protection. I don’t know what Jesus looked like but I’d guess He looked similar to those young men on the boat. As a young adult, Jesus was a refugee of sorts…he wasn’t welcome in His own hometown. He wandered. He had nothing but the clothes on His back. He depended on other people for His survival even though He had the power to generate whatever He needed. He was told to flee as His life was so often in danger. And all the while, He taught peace, do what is right and true and love others. Even before He was born, Joseph, with his pregnant wife, Mary, had to travel a long distance from their home to Bethlehem for the census…they had no choice. They arrived late into the night and could find no place to stay even though Mary was in labor. So they went into a barn where they
made their bed and Jesus was born there. Joseph and Mary showed the ultimate trust; first she was pregnant without being “with” Joseph. Second, when God told them to pack up and move to a different city, they did. Every time. They listened to God and they trusted Him with their lives. That is what we all must strive to do if we are to find peace in this life on earth with all that is happening around us and too us. Despite the death and mayhem in Paris, I am encouraged by my sister’s hometown, Priest River, Idaho. Recently, 30,000 households were without electricity. A huge wind storm knocked them out and
I believe God IS in control… even if something horrible happens. took the electricity with it. However, while one side of the block had power, across the street they didn’t. But people reached out and helped each other. They ran extension cords to neighbor’s homes, baked for each other, looked out for one another. That is what Jesus taught while He was on earth. I know my neighborhood would be exactly the same way. We would take care of each other. So I’m choosing to trust God with my children this holiday season while each of us travel to different regions. I believe God is with them and that if they have a need, wherever they are, He will provide someone who will choose to care for and help them. I believe God IS in control…even if something horrible happens. I’m thankful to the Lord for helping me learn to trust, and over the years, the foundation of my security has grown strong. God is with me no matter what. I am not fearful of the future.

Real Estate Investing
I
speak to a lot of people who would like to get into real estate investing and don’t quite know where to start. The lender will have specific requirements and so should you for selecting properties. 1. If you are not going to pay cash, talk to a lender to find out their requirements. It depends on your financials and credit scores. Typically they require 20 to 25% down and 6 months of available liquid assets to cover all of your expenses including your own home and personal debts. 2. Work with a reliable Realtor® who has experience in representing investors and/or has personal rentals so that they know current trends. Look for homes that are easy to maintain, rent and manage with good cash flow. 3. If you are going to manage your own rentals, look for properties that are no more than 10 minutes from your current home to make it easy for you to show and handle emergencies. 4. If you’re thinking about fixing up a property and flipping it, ask your tax advisor about the tax implications. If you invest in many in a year, you could be considered as a Developer which may be taxed at a different rate. 5. Long term rentals are generally considered owned for at least 1 year and 1 day to take advantage of lower tax rates for any gains. Know the difference between a good deal and bad.
6. Make a plan and stick to it. Don’t fall in love with a property or pay too much. Find multiple properties and make multiple offers. Do your homework. Have a team of people you can call on for repairs and advice. Remember, investing in properties is a profit-making business and not a charitable organization. Kathryn Novak, Broker/Owner, Metro Brokers – Novak Realty lives in and has been practicing real estate in Erie and the surrounding areas for 16 years and has been a real estate investor since the 1980s. In these days of email and text, imagine, every time I had to communicate with the seller, I had to drive to the county lockup, meet with the guard, and explain what he would have to tell my seller. The guard would disappear for what seemed like hours, and finally come back with some type of answer. eed a job? Need quality employees ASAP? Need required training for your existing staff that you don’t have the time or skill for? Call Connections Training & Staffing. An example of how this dynamic staffing company works was shown to me on the afternoon I visited with coowner Corinne Vanosdoll. That morning an employer had called wanting 40 employees to report to work that week! Connections Training and Staffing recruits from the entire community. They also partner with the Department of Corrections, Workforce Centers, Veterans groups and others. This offers hope and a second chance to those who have chosen to make a positive change in their lives but live with the stigma and record of poor past decisions. If a company is unsure whether candidates are suitable for a position or will be successful in the role, the company can “try before they buy” with Connections Temporary-To-Hire service. With this service, Connections is the employer of record until the
company is satisfied that the candidate is a good fit for the company. In addition to their employee and temporary placement services, the company offers Payroll Services, HR Consultation, OSHA Certification and Safety. There are five expectations for those seeking employment from and through Connections. Those are Reliability, Integrity, Honesty, Punctuality and Professionalism. Candidates can apply in person at Connections offices. Candidates need to be prepared for an interview, with a resume (if available), professional attire and right -to-work documentation. Connections Training and Staffing can be reached at either of two locations, 436 Terry Street, Longmont whose phone number is 303.485.8145 or 8700 Grant Street, Suite 100, Thornton whose phone number is 303.867.5150. The company website is connectionstrainingandstaffing. com and a contact email is info@ connectionstrainingandstaffing.com.

inviting the community to celebrate with them! The Erie Animal Hospital has been a business focused on Erie’s citizens and their pets for 15 years this December and they are led by the amazing efforts of Dr. Sally Towner. Dr. Towner had a love of animals since she was very young after growing up on a mini-farm consisting of goats, horses, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, rabbits, dogs and cats. At age 16 she began working for a local veterinary practice and shortly after attended CSU to earn her degree in Animal Science. Then she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California Davis in 1991. She spent years working in large, multi-doctor facilities but found that her heart was in starting her own practice and determined Erie to be the perfect place to do so as Erie at the time, lacked basic services, including a veterinary hospital. So with passion and drive Erie Animal Hospital was born in a small farm house. After three years the business grew so quickly a new space was needed and that is how they arrived at their current location on County Line Road. Erie Animal Hospital also took the extra step to become fully accredited by AAHA which less than 15% of veterinary hospitals are. This means they must meet over 800 rigorous standards for client/patient/ hospital care to hold this accreditation. Not only has Dr. Towner and her team been dedicated to their clients but they have also invested their time and energy into the Erie community. Erie Animal Hospital has supported many events including the Erie Town Fair, Country Christmas & Parade of Lists, Miner’s Blast, Town of Erie Bark in the Park and they serve local resource groups and even helped with emergency pet care during the floods of 2013. They continue to focus their business on providing above and beyond care for the community of Erie and surrounding areas. Join The Erie Animal Hospital located at 720 Austin Avenue, Suite 107 for their 15th Anniversary and Holiday Open House from December 7th-12th. Stop in during business hours for refreshments, door prizes, gifts for your pets, hospital tours, and to meet their amazing staff. More information can be found at www. erieanimalhospital.com.
