Mead High School's Recharge at Sara Brandenburg George Grant Therapeutic Massage
Oak Tree Images
By Robin Barrett Wandering around the home, photographs capture your attention… drawn to one in particular, reminiscing. Displayed are those of crazy Aunt Irene, others of mother and father, your husband, wife, child or children and of grandpa and grandma. Standing, pondering, remembering that day… …Now, close your eyes and wonder what those particular walls would look like without those photos. What do you think? I think crazy and not-so-crazy memories would fade away. Slowly trickling from the mind making it more and more difficult to remember the face, the day, the time, year, and perhaps even the name of the person in the photo. How lonely and deprived of precious moments and memories we would be. But that’s why we have Lisa Hebert of Oak Tree Images, LLC. Lisa remembers her first camera. It had the flash bulb on top. Through this camera she realized she really had an artistic eye for seeing o t h e r s through the lens at the right angles, in the r i g h t lights, in the right mood and place. So there she began her hobby. A fascinating hobby at that. One she would help others to laugh, cry with excitement, and then to be in awe and finally, to simply thank her again and again. Lisa has had the support of her husband, David, family (three beautiful boys) and friends to see her dream come alive when she became more serious about her “hobby” in 2008. Then in 2010, Lisa started Oak Tree Images. Lisa’s idea was to share her passion with others by providing awesome memorable photography at affordable rates. She and her family moved to Mead in 2011 where Lisa also runs her in-home day care for before and after school age children. She is a very busy
By Robin Barrett In our busy, nonstop lives of hustle here and bustle there, plus extra-long hours at work, don’t we deserve a recharge? Yes we do and we can get that through Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Kurashova Russian Medical Massage, or even Energy Healing Massage. George Grant Therapeutic Massage offers all of this and more. In 2004, George studied at the prestigious Boulder College of Massage Therapy which requires over 1,000 hours for their certification program. Amongst his classes were Zen Siatsu, Swedish massage, Normalization of Soft Tissue, and Integrative massage. But George went well beyond the normal class requirements. He also specializes in Orthopedic massage, prenatal massage, infant massage, and even canine massage. His internship was spent at the Boulder Community Hospital in the Oncology, Orthopedic, Cardiac, and Medical Surgery Departments. George went on from there and received his Associate of Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy Degree in Medical and Trauma massage from BCMT. He also became a certified Energy Healer. His energy studies included classes in Healing Touch, Qi Gong and Vibrational Medicine treatments. He is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association as well. George Grant Therapeutic Massage is a place where you can truly get your “recharge” done in a number of different techniques and in a very professional, private environment. George Grant was in the British Army at the age of 15. He left the service after nearly 20 years as a Warrant Officer Class II. During his career in the British Army he served tours on loan service with armies of other nations. One was the

By Kelly Fordyce Martindale There was a time it was an honor to be considered the “girl next door” or the “one you can bring home to meet mama.” Sadly, in the twenty-first century, having character, morals, a strong sense of community, hard work and patriotism doesn’t seem to be so popular anymore. But being popular isn’t Sara Brandenburg’s goal. Sara, now 18, has become a voice to the world because of the qualities her parents have instilled in her and her sister, Katey. Honesty and integrity grew through the generations from Sara’s great-great-grandfather, down to her dad, Rod Brandenburg and now to the sisters. The Brandenburg family has the same pioneer spirit brought from Germany to the Westcliffe, Colorado homestead in the 1870s.
One of those pioneer traditions includes hunting. It is through Sara’s hunting skills and winning international hunting awards, that she has developed a platform to reach youth and especially girls and women around the world. Through local speaking engagements, national corporations and even

More than 300 manufacturers and 5,700 retail buyers attended the trade-only event. Team ProMark has exhibited every year at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show since its first year in 2006. A large number of major retailers sent buyers to the show, including Macy's, Nordstrom's, Target, Walmart, Sears/KMart, BJs Wholesale, Bed Bath & Beyond, Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Goods, Champs, Lids, Barnes & Noble, Follett and several professional sports teams, including the Yankees and Cowboys. MEAD MAYOR REPORT
Richard Macomber
z The Spring owers are blossoming, the day light portion of the day is longer and unfortunately the weeds are growing also. I hope you enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt and seeing the delightful faces of all the children as they found the eggs in the town park. That ". . . Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones." Prov 16:24 event is put on jointly with the Town and its volunteer Parks and Recreation committee. The Town clean up days are also a popular event and the participation appears to grow annually. It is far less of a burden on $15.00 off your first 60-minute massage with this ad! your tax dollars to run those Spring clean up days than to pick up trash along the roads and byways. Thank you for your participation. z Not to be missed on April 13 is the 9Health Fair at the Mead High School. Your Town is a sponsor of this event and the goal is a healthier community. This is an inexpensive way to obtain numerous medical tests and there are numerous stories of these catching a potential medical condition before it becomes serious. I personally have a series of the medical tests that are offered and provide the results to my physician. That provides my doctor with the capability to see any changes that might have happened over a period of time. See you there ! z We have some tremendous congratulations to be offered. I think we can all be proud of the Mead Mavericks at the Mead High School. It is truly wonderful to read of their accomplishments both academically as well as in sports. On the other end of the age spectrum I want to congratulate Corrine Lewis who was honored at the retired senior breakfast in Greeley for her twenty years of volunteer service to the Mead community. It is with mixed emotions that I congratulate Chris Larmon (one of our many skilled public works team members) on accepting a job as Operations Manager in the public works department of LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED the Town of Windsor. We will miss you Chris but good luck in your new position. z Not to be out done is the Mountain View Fire Protection District that provides ďŹ re and medical services to our community. They have been working on their “public protection classiďŹ cationâ€? program which is evaluated by the Insurance Service Organization. The results of their work have changed the ratings to a much better class (a 5 to a 4 which means the lower the number the better ďŹ re protection they provide to us). The ďŹ re protection districts goal is to lower that to a 3 rating. What this means to you is that your cost of ďŹ re protection insurance premiums should be reduced. I would suggest you check with your insurance company to determine if you qualify for a reduced premium. ESIDENTIAL ARTS ROVIDED z As our town grows we have focused on our logo and found that we are no longer a “littleâ€? town. Accordingly we are working on a new logo for our community and if you have some creative ideas we would sincerely welcome them. We have also received some interesting demographic data. A lot of it is provided by ďŹ rms that are studying our community to determine when ARTS ETURNED TO OUR OME they will enter it and with what types of businesses. A quick, and incomplete summary, is that we are a moderately afuent, white, and 60% of us are 25-65 years old with the largest age cohort being 45 to 54. Average household size is 2.93 persons (I UMPSTERS OLLOFFS am still looking for that .93 person). Less than 10% of the 1164 housing units are rented and we are projected to grow at a 2-3% rate per year, although I am sure that really depends upon the economy. PECIAL OLLECTIONS z I have heard the statement that I appear to show up at many of the meetings in town. I take that as a compliment. My view is that while email, text messaging , Tweets, Facebook and LinkedIn networking may be useful supplements to human interaction, they are by no means a replacement. To build relationships, establish trust, and avoid misunderstandings, people INGLE ACK need to meet and connect. Now with that statement I, and your Broad of Trustees, welcome your thoughts and input on how to make our town a better place to live, work and play. You are always welcome to our semi-monthly meetings, or if you can’t make those just give me a call or talk to one of your elected Trustees. z I read a troubling statistic recently that nationwide there were 32,000 pedestrian/biker deaths last year involving automobiles. As our children and bike riders are enjoying the nicer weather let’s make a pledge that the Town of Mead will *DESIGNATED AREAS contribute zero statistics to that number. As always please remember the men and women protecting our freedoms no matter WWW ONEWAYTRASH COM W where in the world they are stationed.

The February B.A.H. hosted by Black Canyon Distillery & Carbon Valley Garage was a huge success. It was estimated that anywhere between 30-40 people attended the B.A.H., which only goes to show that Chamber participation is growing. In order to continue to offer the B.A.H. events in the future the Chamber needs members to sign up to host or cost host B.A.H. events. Our goal is to get a calendar of these events set up for the entire year. If your organization is interested in hosting a B.A.H. event please contact Tiffany Yenchus-Holcomb at tiffany@meadchamberofcommerce.com.

international magazines, Sara is able to encourage others to pursue their dreams and be the person God means them to be. Most chaperones at the Mead High School Prom will be oblivious to the fact that the intelligent, joyful and beautifully petite Sara Brandenburg is a world-renowned award winning trophy hunter. In fact, this year, Sara became the youngest person in the world to complete the North American Super 10. This is to say, she has harvested each of the North American Super 10 animals consisting of: antelope, deer, elk, moose, bear, cougar, caribou, mountain sheep, mountain goat, and bison. At the age of 15, Sara acquired the notoriety of being the youngest woman in the world to complete the North American Grand Slam of Sheep. The Grand Slam is a coveted achievement in the hunting community, which involves harvesting four of the most elusive game in North America: the Dall, Rocky Mountain bighorn, desert bighorn and Stone sheep. She got her Dall Sheep in Alaska, her Rocky Mtn. Bighorn in British Columbia, Canada, a Desert Bighorn in Mexico, and her Stone Sheep in the Yukon, Canada. She completed this monumental task in under a year’s time, in 2010. Most hunters who pursue a Grand Slam take a lifetime to do it. Sara, who comes from a family of avid hunters, did it in about a year -- and just a few days short of her 16th birthday. This young women, who has faced hostility and bullying since her adolescence has maintained her faith and love of Jesus Christ. She calls her dad her hero, she’s a supportive sister and a sweet-spirited daughter who is also a black belt in both Judo and Hapkido. Sara plays volleyball and soccer, and she enjoys archery, as well. Despite her many world-wide hunting trips, she maintains her excellent grades as a senior at Mead High School. As you can see, she is not your typical teenager. Which goes to show you cannot be “typicalâ€? if your pursuits include breaking records held by adults, gaining international attention from your personal skills, booking speaking engagements from national hunting organizations, and receiving support and sponsorship from huge businesses. The Brandenburgs received a sponsorship from Cabela’s, who sent them their hunting gear for a particular hunt.
