This year we continue with the theme of “Shared Economies.” This is so critical, and is at the heart of doing business in Africa. Meetings Africa is about cementing partnerships that will position the African continent globally as an ideal business events destination and that is why this trade show features events geared up for networking, connecting and for clinching mutuallybeneficial deals.

Last year, the estimated economic impact of the buyers that attended was over R3.3 billion! With more than 260 exhibitors at this year’s Meetings Africa, I assure you that you will meet the best of the best from across the African continent.

MEETINGS AFRICA CONTINUES TO PLAY A POWERFUL ROLE in the continent’s MICE industry, annually bringing leading global players together to showcase Africa as a sought-after business tourism destination. Sandton Convention Centre, which has been a proud partner of this iconic industry event since 2004, is delighted to welcome all participants to what we anticipate will be a very successful Meetings Africa 2019. As the showcase for Africa’s diverse offering of global meetings services and products, Meetings Africa highlights the continent’s climb in world rankings as a preferred business destination. In 2017, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) gave South Africa a worldwide country ranking of 34 in number of meetings, and 26 in estimated number of participants. It achieved top spot in the Africa rankings, followed by Morocco and Rwanda. 6 Exhibition Catalogue 2019

We look forward to this prestigious event resonating throughout SCC, with much activity, dialogue, exchanging of ideas, sharing of knowledge and expertise, innovative thinking, bonding on BONDay, sound trading, and more. Reflecting on 2018, Sandton Convention Centre experienced a better-than-expected year, with an increase in government and confex business. Highlights included big government events such as the 10th annual BRICS Summit in July, which accommodated 250 delegates, including five heads of member states, two heads of guest states, and government ministers and officials; and the threeday Presidential Investment Summit in October, among others. Other signature and key industry events in 2018 that have become regular fixtures at SCC for some years and are returning in 2019 include the multifaceted Arnold Sport Festival that featured over 70

ABOUT SANDTON CONVENTION CENTRE Award-winning Sandton Convention Centre is one of Johannesburg’s most attractive corporate venues. It prides itself on its all-inclusive facilities and services for meetings and events from 10 to 5 000 pax, which are backed up by a strong team of experts with extensive experience who ensure that the planning and implementation of every events and expo runs smoothly. Limpopo

The land of myths and legends Limpopo offers a mosaic of exceptional scenic landscapes, a fascinating cultural heritage, an abundance of wildlife species and many nature-based tourism opportunities.

he province consists of living cultures, ancient places, nature reserves and national parks, things to do and things to experience – all of which will leave visitors with a greater insight into what makes Limpopo “The Great North”. The city of Polokwane is at the heart of the province – a growing urban hub with its sights set on the future, yet with a heart and soul steeped in traditional values.
