More space. More flexibility. More award-winning cuisine. More attention to detail. More convenience. More breathtaking views. More parking. More facilities. All of which give you more opportunity to transform your meeting, event, conference or show into a truly extraordinary experience.

WELCOME FROM HOST PROVINCE

GAUTENG…

The gateway to South Africa

GAUTENG IS WHERE IT ALL STARTS, with an extensive track record of staging successful conferences and events, this business events destination is the epicentre of South Africa’s business events industry, offering world-class venues and infrastructure for meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions and events. Helping to increase the provinces’ high yield business tourism market, Gauteng Convention and Events Bureau (GCEB) provides information and assistance to meeting and incentive planners, media, corporate and association buyers who show an interest in one of the five cities that it promotes. Working beside organisations and business event leaders, the GCEB identifies international and national conferences, congresses, events, meetings and incentives. 4 Exhibition Catalogue 2018

Support services include standard bid support material, venue and accommodation sourcing, network to gain local association support, government lobbying and promotional support. Using its extensive list of key stakeholders such as airlines, hotels, venues, tour operators and government protocol offices, the Bureau is capable of delivering quality services to interested parties.

TOURISM

WELCOME FROM HOST VENUE

SANDTON CONVENTION CENTRE

proudly welcomes Meetings Africa delegates once again

AS THE HOST VENUE, SANDTON CONVENTION CENTRE is extremely proud to continue our long-standing history with Meetings Africa, and we welcome you to what is considered one of the most prestigious entries on the confex industry calendar. Meetings Africa, as the showcase for Africa’s diverse offering of global meetings services and products, is an iconic industry event and one of SCC’s signature events every year. It highlights Africa’s steady climb in the world rankings as a preferred business destination – and we are proud to be the hosts. SCC has many other major local and international events scheduled for 2018, which include confex events, exhibitions, conferences, and numerous other special events and presentations, as well as six major events organised by associations and societies. 6 Exhibition Catalogue 2018

When a conference or exhibition takes place, it has a massive footprint and impact on the destination in which it is hosted. It is one of the few occasions in the business tourism sector that touches on the entire tourism spectrum. For example, if you have a conference for 100 delegates, each one of those delegates will travel to the conference, will require transport from the airport to the hotel, and will book accommodation during the conference. Each delegate will frequent restaurants in the area and take part in activities the area has to offer during their down time or as part of the leisure element of the conference. All of this means each delegate’s attendance has a knock on effect which not only benefits the venue which is hosting the conference but almost every area associated with tourism.

WELCOME FROM HOST VENUE

ABOUT SANDTON CONVENTION CENTRE Conveniently situated in Sandton, the heart of Johannesburg’s economic capital, Tsogo Sun’s Sandton Convention Centre is flanked by over 1 000 Tsogo Sun hotels rooms at the luxurious Sandton Sun and InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers Hotels and the select service Garden Court Sandton City Hotel. All are perfectly positioned for both local and international travellers. Sandton Convention Centre is easily accessible in 15 minutes via the rapid rail link Gautrain from OR Tambo International Airport, and offers access to over 11 500

parking bays as well as a myriad of world-class shopping and entertainment options. As a state-of-the-art venue, Sandton Convention Centre provides a platform for people to share ideas, inspire progressive thinking and project innovative global solutions. Our awardwinning convention centre is a proud host to some of South Africa’s largest and most successful exhibitions, offering over 10 000 m2 of dedicated exhibition space in addition to multi-purpose spaces for conferences and meetings of just under 12 000 m2.

Furthermore, there is an on-going ripple effect and the value of any conference goes far beyond just the delegate’s attendance. Research from the South African National Convention Bureau has shown that up to 60% of international delegates who attend conferences in South Africa will return within five years of attending the conference with their families on holiday. As South Africa is a long-haul destination, this is higher than the international average. The business events industry is currently extremely strong as the trend of connecting face-to-face grows in popularity around the world. Technology has made it easier for people to connect remotely, but remote corporate communication is waning in favour of a more personal approach and companies are realising that nothing can replace one-on-one interaction. This means that conferences are not only beneficial in terms of networking but also as knowledge sharing platforms. As one of the largest convention centres on the continent, with multiple levels of versatile space and access to more than 6 000 hotel rooms, ranging from budget to luxury, which are accessible via the skywalk or within easy walking distance, we look forward to hosting an event for you in the future.

Multiple events can be staged simultaneously on four main levels, and events of any size from 10 to 10 000 delegates can be accommodated. SCC boasts a highly-skilled team that is equipped to manage the most demanding specifications of any event. In addition visitors can access two of Africa’s most exclusive and premium shopping and entertainment complexes; Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square linked to the convention centre via two skywalks.

AFRICA’S LEADING

BUSINESS EVENTS DIRECTORY

The print listings now mirror our online directory style with basic and premium listings. In fact, upgrading a basic listing in print to premium will include an upgrade to premium on the website and vice versa. The same information online is printed in the print directory.

Business Events Africa is known for having the most comprehensive directory of venues, service providers, speakers and conference organisers in Africa. We have been a trusted source of information for more than 37 years, and now offer this valuable resource online. The market is tough out there. What makes your business different from any other? For starters, be more accessible on the internet. Online searches are now the preferred method of finding information and contact details, so the better your online presence, the more business you will get.

BENEFITS OF LISTING YOUR BUSINESS: • By claiming your listing, you can keep your company’s information up to date at your own convenience • Upgrade your listing online at any time to maximise your brand exposure • Improve your SEO and online presence • We provide a targeted audience for your business • See your stats – know how many people are seeing your listing • Increase traffic to your website with a link from the directory For as little as R2 400, you can get the edge over your competitors by providing indispensable information to your customers on our online directory.
