What The_Ealinger did in March

n u ro

EALING W5 > Here’s a week-by-week overview of what ‘The_Ealinger’ (just a typical Ealing resident and worker), was up to in March 2017.

Week 1: World Book Day at the start of the month provided a number of parents with a creative outlet to dress up their offspring as various literary characters for school parades across the borough. The_Ealinger got off lightly this year, as youngest was reading “There’s a boy in the girls’ bathroom”, and didn’t really want it translated to stage. On the 8th, we marked International Women’s Day with increased knowledge of the work that women do in our community. The Ealing Women’s Forum selected nine “Inspiring Women” to celebrate, including The_Ealinger magazine editor/publisher, Carlene Bender, in a presentation ceremony at Gunnersbury Park Mansion. Week 2: The_Ealinger got a break from hosting #EalingHour, as guest host Loredana Baranga took over the reins. Another highlight of the week was the Contactus magazines Saturday Speed Networking – more useful practise for the four speed networking sessions scheduled at the Ealing Business Expo. Week 3: In the news this week in London, and in Ealing, was the story of the “terror”

March 2017

p u nd attack on Westminster Bridge on the 22nd. By the next day, flags were flying at half-mast outside Ealing Town Hall. Many constituents were worried about local MP Rupa Huq after the attack, but by Saturday 25th she was out and about in Ealing, and contributing to the West Ealing ‘Unconference’ at Ealing Works. Back on the 22nd, Ruby Sweeney of The Events Hub led the first of two training sessions for exhibitors at the Ealing Business Expo & Networking Festival coming up on 9 & 10 June. Then it was Mother’s Day on the 26th, and The_ Ealinger enjoyed a day with family, the way you’re supposed to. Week 4: This was one of the busy ones, not helped by the clocks having jumped forward on the 26th and stealing an hour from us! Two events stand out this week: Anita Wong’s Bommie Media talk on Social Media for Business, the first of three free business support talks put on by the Ealing Works coworking community this spring. The other event for The_Ealinger this week was the Contactus magazines March Meetup, as featured on page 1.

Q&A

ow does Ealing fit into the work of the West London Business policy commissions? A > After a year of deliberation, WLB has just published draft reports from our four policy commissions. The commissions looked at the future of education and skills, transport and infrastructure, the built environment, and sustainability and climate change in West London, the UK’s second largest economic powerhouse. They were focused on identifying practical ways in which we can work with the West London

In the coming year, top priorities are how Ealing Council can better support micro-enterprises and homeworkers, as well as understanding the opportunities emerging from the latest innovations in the digital economy. The meetings will move around the borough to try and increase access.

T&S Finance Events Ltd Tip of the Month – from Matteo Turi of Taras Financial

N

ow let us face this fact: at least 65 per cent of businesses will fail within the first 24-36 months of operation, anywhere in the world. Would it not be beneficial to attempt to remove the causes for failures? Hence, we have designed our own three pillars of financial success with three key questions: 1. Why is your business unique? 2. Will your business work without you? 3. Can you sell to new clients and new markets? So what should you exactly do to increase the value of your business? The path to follow should include the following : a. Declare your goals b. Contact us for a proposal to achieve your goals c. We work together to achieve your ultimate financial success. Here’s the full version of Matteo Turi’s article: taras-financial.co.uk/uncategorized/3-pillars-offinancial-success/ T&S Finance Events Ltd, sponsors of the Ealing Business Expo & Networking Festival, is a joint venture between Northolt-based businesses Taras Financial and The Events Hub. The company is being launched at the Expo on 9-10 June 2017. Meet Ruby and Matteo at the Contactus magazines FREE business meetup, Fri 28 April, 1-2pm, where they will be presenting on the topic of cashflow: “Where did the money go?”
