The the week Ealinger
1
Faith – you started Yourstage in 2008 while working as Head of Drama at St Augustine’s Priory, how has the company changed since then? We started with holiday courses, then Saturday classes launched in 2014. We hope to extend our provision with extra courses at new locations in the near future.
A bit of stage action Yourstage Drama founder Faith Hagerty and marketing director Felicity Sandford join us for this week’s Q&A to talk about the children’s theatre in Ealing W5, and what we can expect to see this year. There are lots of drama companies around; what makes Yourstage stand out from the rest? We specialise in enhancing creativity in children. Our courses and performances don’t follow a pre-written template. The children are at the centre of the creative process, contributing ideas, devising scenes and developing content. We pride ourselves on the confidence our courses bring to pupils as a result of this ownership and the teamwork this entails. We have access

to 13 acres of grounds and amazing facilities including an outdoor stage in the meadow of St Augustine’s Priory. It’s interesting that acting brought you to teaching, Faith. Tell us the story. After completing my drama degree at Bristol University, I trained as an actor at LAMDA. Having loved performing from an early age, I soon realised that my key strength is transferring my passion and skills in theatre arts to children in a professional but fun way.
Q&A
Felicity – do give us a teaser about the next Yourstage production. Busy times ahead! Yourstage is entertaining at many Ealing summer events, including ‘Pitshanger Party in the Park’, where our Saturday pupils will perform. We’ve got the end-of-term Midsummer Madness show in July, with the older groups performing on the outdoor stage. Our ‘Circus and Carnival’ five-day summer course ends with a spectacular Questors show full of surprises and high-action entertainment. Our new website goes live this summer, then we end 2016 with our Roald Dahl themed autumn term, proving popular already.
