Rights We typically hold worldwide rights across all platforms for the majority of our content catalogue.
Trends in 2018/Outlook for 2019 Content investment is on the rise from movies to dramas, and the production of Korean dramas in particular is picking up steam. In addition, increased OTT/ IPTV rights have emerged as increasingly important components to the deal. A+E Networks is the only global network running both Korean and pan-Asian platforms and is planning to speed up its role as a bridge to each country through the increased production of hugely popular Korean content across both scripted series and factual entertainment.
Asia focus in 2019 “Asia in its entirety is a growth market for us but we are specifically focused on developing our content distribution and format sales in India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Additionally, the launch of our Korean channels (History and Lifetime) last year have provided us with A-grade Korean drama, talk-shows and gameshows with top Korean stars that are highly sought after by our clients across the region and worldwide. The success of Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance across multiple territories has further compounded our position and reputation as the pre-eminent global distributor of TV movies.”

Trends in 2018/Outlook for 2019
2018: “We saw the impact of local programming take centre stage for all Asian individual markets. As we are a distributor, the next step for local content intended for international sales is to build a consistent chain of commercialisation globally – Monetise first locally and remonetise through formats. On the international programming landscape, there has been a stronger return to core genres – wildlife and science/ technology, studio-based formats, animation, as well as digital short-form content.” 2019: “We see great locally owned IP coming through lifestyles series and unique formats with a fresh new take from Asia.”

Trends & Outlook We are definitely in the new era of groundbreaking original content. Buyers are looking for fresh content with pioneering concepts as the market is no longer buying volume alone. Fox and National Geographic have been early adopters of this trend and have led the way with innovative new shows like The Host, which is our hottest Latin American production, and Valley of The Boom, which will be a massive scripted drama on National Geographic. The market is more discerning as consumer tastes evolve and that raises the bar for productions in turn. At Fox Networks Group Content Distribution, we have embraced this next phase of market evolution and look forward to leading the way once again.” Julius Toh, VP Asia Pacific

Inspired by true events, I Am the Night tells the gripping story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a teenage girl who is given away at birth, and grows up outside of Reno, Nevada. Fauna lives more-or-less comfortably with the mysteries of her origin, until one day she makes a discovery that leads her to question everything. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets a ruined reporter (Chris Pine), haunted by the case that undid him. Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime.
