Explore Scotland's wilderness responsibly and with style: Land Rover Experience's 'Tread Lightly' policy.

Land Rover Experience is a brand that is synonymous with adventure and off-roading - offering immersive experiences across the UK. But did you know that they are also committed to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable practices?

One of their flagship examples of this is Land Rover Experience Scotland’s ‘Tread Lightly’ policy, at the heart of all their activities and experiences.

A prime example of their commitment to sustainability is their belief that responsible offroading can coexist with environmental conservation. “Our ‘Tread Lightly’ policy ensures that our actions minimise environmental damage by providing instruction in responsible off-road driving, "explains Will Cox, Managing Director of Land Rover Experience Scotland. Land Rover Experience Scotland has a range of experiences that allow you to enjoy their allterrain capabilities and explore the beautiful Scottish countryside while still being ecofriendly. “For the last twenty years we have been very privileged to drive and instruct in off-road driving in Highland Perthshire. We offer half- and full-day driving experiences with lunch, where you will learn to drive off-road responsibly in wonderful scenery with the added bonus of our local wildlife. There is no better place to drive a brand new Defender in the stunning countryside! I especially love our full-day option, which will take you into a local private estate, stunning forestry, and open hilltops overlooking multifarious open lochs.”

One of Land Rover Experience Scotland’s primary values is to minimise the environmental impact of their vehicles and experiences. There are now six Plug-In Electric Hybrid (PHEV) and 11 Mild Electric Hybrid (MHEV) vehicles in their lineup, which use road tyres on most of their cars to increase fuel efficiency and be in keeping with their ‘Tread Lightly’ policy.

“Environmentally, turning to electric is very important to us, and we have proved that hybrid electric vehicles are very capable of being driven off-road. In fact, these vehicles, other than using more power, are completely unaffected in an off-road environment.”

Experiences arranged in partnership with Dream Escape and Land Rover Experience Scotland are designed to showcase the capabilities of their vehicles and the beauty of the Scottish countryside while also being mindful of the impact on the environment.

Exhilarating off-road driving experiences are led by expert instructors who ensure the participants follow the Tread Lightly’ policy and leave no trace behind.

Land Rover Experience Scotland also does a lot of land and track management to enable walkers and cyclists to continue to use the tracks, and they are about to embark on a tree-planting scheme within their centre at Dunkeld.

“All areas that we use, walkers, cyclists and horses share the countryside codes of practice,” Will explains. “All tracks exist and are maintained using locally sourced materials; we do not develop new tracks. Many of these trails have existed since Jacobite times and have been used for both estate work and recreational use.”

If done well, off-roading shouldn’t leave any trace. “We work closely with the rural sector, and electricity is not always the answer for various reasons. Still, there will be other means to overcome these issues, which will help protect our environmental future,” explains Will.

Land Rover Experience Scotland focus on minimising the environmental impact of their vehicles and experiences by promoting responsible off-roading practices.

With a Land Rover Experience as part of your Dream Escape experience, you can enjoy the thrill of off-roading while being mindful of your impact on the environment too.

And, if you own an electric vehicle and would like to learn more about how it works both on and off-road then there is no better place to come than Land Rover Experience Scotland. Will encourages you to “bring your own Land Rover to one of our organised Trek days or Under The Stars Camping weekend... here you will really find out what your vehicle can do!”
