Honesty What is honesty?

» Honesty is telling the truth. » Honesty is straightforward conduct. » Honesty is being sincere, trustworthy, and honorable.

How do you know when you are being honest? You are being honest when you …

How do you put honesty into action?

» Do your own homework.

» Tell your parents about a mistake you have made.

» Tell a friend the truth.

» Tell the truth when you have done something wrong.

» Explain the real reason you didn’t turn in your homework.

» Turn in something that is lost.

» Keep your eyes on your own paper.

» Do your schoolwork honestly.

» Thank a family member or friend for being honest.

» Clean up your room after making a promise. » Admit you made the mistake. » Keep a friend’s secret.

Great reasons to tell the truth: » Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. » Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished. » Telling the truth lets everyone learn from what happened. » You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth. » Other people trust you more when you are always truthful. » You don’t have to tell more lies to keep your story straight. » Telling the truth helps you feel secure and peaceful inside.
