what can you do? 1. Think about your decisions. Remember that there are consequences for all your decisions. It might make the decision process easier if you think about the consequences. 2. Make a plan — know what you are going to do. Have an excuse ready for that moment when someone asks you to do something that may result in a negative consequence. Learn to say no. 3. Be confident with your excuses. Be honest with your excuses. Respond honestly and don’t be afraid to say that this idea might not be the best, safest or logical idea. Suggest something else. 4. Know how you will react. Be confident with your decisions. Remember, it’s yours and only yours. If you don’t want to be involved in something wrong, don’t go there. Your decision may be a positive influence on a friend.

THERE IS NOT JUST NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE. THERE IS POSITIVE PEER PRESSURE THAT IS EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL.

how and when?

1. When a friend is encouraging you to try out for a play, a sport or just something you really want. 2. When a friend keeps you from breaking the law. Like drinking when you are under 21 years of age. Or using illicit drugs or prescription drugs that are not prescribed for you. 3. When a friend just keeps you from doing something stupid that may cause you a great deal of embarrassment. INITIAL:
