Courtney’s snap thrilled fans

IT’S THE ONE WHERE... THEY LEFT US HANGING! We’ve been waiting years for a Friends reunion (16 to be exact, since the final episode aired in 2004!) and last week Courteney Cox dropped a big hint that our prayers could soon be answered. Court, who played Monica in the hit sitcom, sent fans (and the new team!) into meltdown when she uploaded a throwback snap of herself and the rest of the gang – Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc – enjoying a dinner before filming the final episode. Courteney captioned the shot on Instagram, “The Last Supper before taping The Last One on Jan 23, 2004. #tbt #friends.” It wasn’t long before her co-stars commented on the nostalgic pic, with Jen leaving three crying emojis under the snap, and Lisa writing, “Awww.”

Jen’s first Insta post

The post comes three months after Jen teased fans by sharing a present-day pic of the gang to launch her Instagram account. Along with the 2.6 million Friends devotees who liked Courteney’s snap, we’re not ashamed to say we’re desperate to see the pals back in Central Perk attempting to navigate their way through 2020. Will they still be arguing about whether Ross and Rachel were actually on a break? Will Phoebe still be performing Smelly Cat? And, more importantly, will any of them be on Tinder? Whatever they decide, one thing’s for sure – we’ll be there for them!

Meghan ‘set to make $100m’ The Sussexes are hoping to be ‘bigger than Brand Beckham’ now they have quit the UK and ditched their royal duties

T

he Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had a turbulent few weeks since announcing their plans to “step back” from royal life. But we can reveal Meghan, 38, has used her time holed up in Canada to hatch a plan to ensure the couple will earn millions – and they could even rival their pals Victoria and David Beckham’s family brand. “Now the royal purse strings are going to be cut, Meghan’s determined to ensure she makes millions off her own back,” revealed a source. “She’s thrown herself back into work mode since being back in Vancouver, telling pals how she can’t wait to see all her ideas come to fruition.” Her plans are said to include teaming up with her Hollywood friends to help her return to her acting roots. She’s also thought to be using her contacts in a bid to bring out her own clothing line. “Meghan’s already set to make

$100million in the first five years of her post-royal life, with mega-bucks endorsement deals, a fashion range with her stylist pal Misha Nonoo and movie roles following meet-ups with George Clooney, Angelina Jolie and a string of Hollywood directors,” continued our insider. “She’s already been offered several roles that could see her becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and overtaking Scarlett Johansson by becoming the highest-paid actress in the world.” Along with her own career, our mole says Meghan, 38, is also looking at the earning potential of working together with Harry, 35, and their eight-month-old son Archie. “Meghan knows she’s hot property and she’s hoping to cash in on her family too – mimicking what the likes of David and Victoria have done to create Brand Beckham. She’s already been approached by modelling and

acting agents who are interested in Archie’s potential, too,” our source continued. “With Meghan now free to do what she wants, she’s going all out to hire the best team of agents, managers and publicists. She says this is just the beginning of her new life as the royal-turned-multi millionaire who can pride herself on having made her fortune through her own hard work rather than relying on anyone else.” Last week Harry, who has now joined his wife and son in Vancouver, revealed their decision wasn’t “made lightly” and they had “no other option” but to step down as full-time working royals. In a speech at a dinner in London for his charity Sentebale, Harry said, “Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations without public funding. Unfortunately that wasn’t possible.” He added, “I have accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have

ever known, to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life.” Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told new that Harry’s speech implies he was given an ultimatum by the rest of the royal family. “Harry’s words are open to interpretation, which isn’t always the best way of making a speech when you’re a public figure. You need your message to be clear, plain and simple,” Duncan told us. “I would suggest the Queen has basically said, ‘If you want to step back, then it’s all or nothing. You can’t have your cake and eat it.’ “I think he was given an ultimatum by the royal family where they told him they would support him, but don’t think you’re going to be able to continue to represent the Queen.” Duncan added that Harry is also trying to send a message to anyone who feels let down that they’re stepping back. “What is clear is that he’s trying to reassure the charities that he’s worked hard to support and he’s trying to redress some of the criticism he’s had, so he’s emphasising that he loves Britain,” he said. “And he’s clearly trying to counter those critics who have accused Meghan of being behind the whole decision.” Georgia Trevitt

Brad and Jen ‘still in love!’ Hollywood’s hottest exes have been getting close both on and off the red carpet

F

ormer golden couple Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt broke the internet last week when they reunited at the SAG Awards and were pictured grinning from ear to ear as they embraced each other on the red carpet. After picking up the gong for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in The Morning Show, Jen ran into Brad backstage. Following their brief reunion, Brad, 56, seemed reluctant to part from his former wife as he tenderly held on to her hand. And later, Jen’s pal Courteney Cox added fuel to the fire by liking a tweet that read, “They still love each other, no doubt.” Now, a source has told new that Brennifer’s red carpet love-in is no one-off as they’ve been enjoying secret meet-ups for several months. “Brad and Jen have been privately meeting as their friendship has grown since he turned up to her 50th last February,” revealed our source. “Jen has been paying Brad secret visits with pals, and he’s been seen at her home in Beverly Hills. To those who know them, it’s undeniable their chemistry has reignited.” It was pretty clear to the rest of us, too, as the pair looked lovingly into each other’s eyes during their tactile display. Brad, who won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role award, was also spotted behind the scenes gazing fondly at a screen as Jen made her acceptance speech on stage.

“They’ve both been through difficult divorces since their own. CAN YOU EVER BE FRIENDS WITH AN EX? NO!

Jen leaned in and the pair embraced

Mum-of-four Danielle Lloyd, 36, says… You should never be friends with an ex – you’re together or you’re not, and I have a feeling Jen and Brad might get back together. It’s hard to be friends with someone you’ve been with, especially if there’s been bitterness in the past. If you’ve got children you put on a front, but I’ve never been friends with any of my exes. In my situation with the boys’ dad, Jamie O’Hara, I try to be as civil as possible, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. We just don’t speak. It’s probably for the best, as long as the kids are OK. When you break up and someone new comes on the scene, it can cause a lot of problems if you’re still With her ex, friends with an ex. Brad held on to Jen’s hand as she moved away

Sinitta, 56, who dated Brad for two years in the late 1980s, says… I’m friends with all my exes – not just Simon Cowell. Once you’ve both accepted the relationship is over, if you’re mature and genuinely good friends, I don’t see why you can’t be. I’ve got back together with exes many times, so I don’t think there’s any problem with breaking up and making up, especially when you’re older. As you age, you know what you like and are less tolerant of the things you don’t like. If you know that person is the one who got away and they feel the same, why not get back together? If you can make your life easier by Brad and Sinitta saying, ‘We made a mistake, together in 1988 I forgive you, you forgive me, we know what not to do again…’ I would say it’s typical of Brad to stay friends with his exes. He’s laid-back and kind. Dating Brad was really fun. It wasn’t an intense romance. It was two people who were attracted to each other. I didn’t fall in love with him because he wasn’t around enough. I kind of fell in love following him [afterwards], thinking I should have tried harder. What’s lovely is I see the same person I did when I first met him, when he wasn’t a big Hollywood star. Brad’s a really good guy.

Now, he tells us performing live is the only drug he needs. It’s a good job Jason is feeling so full of beans, as he’s gearing up for a 52-date tour of the UK and Ireland, which kicks off later this year, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his first album Ten Good Reasons. Fans will be treated to the classic hits that turned Jason into a pop heart-throb following his stint as Scott Robinson in Aussie soap Neighbours, as well as his chart-topper Any Dream Will Do from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Here, Jason, who is married to Angela Malloch and dad to their kids Jemma, 19, Zac, 18, and eight-year-old Molly, reveals the lessons he’s learnt after more than three decades in showbiz…

16

Hi Jason! So you’re off on an anniversary tour? Yeah, 1989 was a big year for me. I’ve been very lucky to have one of those in a lifetime – the biggest-selling single and album in the UK that year. Nostalgia is massive at the moment, but it’s not just about that album. It’s about the musical theatre work I’ve done over the years, like Joseph. Did you ever think 30 years ago that you’d enjoy such a long career? I’ve never thought too far ahead. I think you create your own luck, but timing is everything and landing Neighbours in 1985 gave me the leverage to move into

music. I’ve moved into different areas of my career, but it’s wonderful to have a core audience and that’s where a show like this comes alive for me. Those songs will always have an audience. You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory and when you’re in your teens those memories are just more poignant. Do you have fans who have followed you from the start? Yes, I did Joseph at the Palladium last summer and there were a lot of people I met at the stage door saying, “I was here in 1991!” and they had their children with them. It was a full house – 2,400 people going crazy. Those moments are as good as any moment you’re ever going to have. Do you like that buzz you get from a live audience? It’s like a drug, the adrenaline that kicks in as you go on stage. I’m still anxious about delivering, though. Am I going to remember the words? Will I sing in tune? Viewers of the skating show were left confused when host Holly Willoughby announced Caprice and Hamish had “parted ways” and they did not perform in the competition on 19 January. Fans began speculating why the pair had severed ties, while a source accused the mum-of-two of being “mean” and “difficult”. ‘Dancing On Ice is harder than the Paralympics’ Inspirational skating star Libby Clegg and pro partner Mark Hanretty tell us they’re not letting her visual impairment hold them back on the rink

T

here isn’t a dry eye in the house whenever Paralympian Libby Clegg performs on the Dancing On Ice live shows. The 29-year-old is registered blind because of her sightreducing condition called Stargardt’s macular dystrophy. But that hasn’t stopped her loving her time on the ice. “I’ve enjoyed training, I’m a bit of a saddo,” Libby tells us when we catch up with her and her skating partner Mark Hanretty, 34, for a chat. “When we’re in the studio I know where the audience are sat because it’s dark. I just work off the light and dark. Other than that I can’t really see anything other than Mark.” The Scottish Paralympic gold-medal winning sprinter is engaged to Dan Powell, who Libby with guide dog Hatti

is also visually impaired, and the couple are parents to nine-month-old Edward. They find out next month if their little boy will have sight issues too, but as Libby’s already proved, there’s no hurdle you can’t overcome. Here, she opens up about how she avoids injury, while pro skater Mark reveals he was initially “terrified” to be partnered with the Paralympian.

Hi Libby! How does it feel when you’re skating? Libby: To be honest, as the weeks have gone on it feels more natural than it did initially. I feel really comfortable skating with Mark. We’ve got good communication and we’ve got a way of getting messages across to each other. It’s been an interesting learning curve, so hopefully it will pay off.

Mark, how has it been for you, training with Libby? Mark: I think, like most people, I had a preconceived idea of what it would be like to work with a blind person, especially in a sport that’s so visually based.

Initially I was terrified, but the whole experience has been phenomenal. Libby transforms her disability into a positive. She’s quite good at ice skating, too!

She certainly is! You must be very proud of her… Mark: I think the comical part is that it’s my seventh year on the show and it’s going to be the best I’ve ever done, with somebody who has a disability. It’s such a testament to Libby’s positive attitude.

Have you suffered many bumps and bruises, Libby? Libby: None so far. I’ve got this weird ability to save myself. Mark: Libby’s training to compete in this summer’s Tokyo Paralympic Games, so we’ve got to be conscious not to wreck her body too much.

Libby, what’s tougher – this or the Olympics? Libby: This is actually harder, because it’s a completely new skill set. I’ve been running since I was nine, so that’s normal to me now. This is about trying to smile and be expressive. And

sitting getting your hair and make-up done for three and a half hours – I’m not used to that.

Can you tell us more about your condition? Libby: I was diagnosed when I was nine. I had issues reading the board at school and eventually got passed to an eye specialist who diagnosed me. I was really confused. I was told I was going to lose my sight, but to try to comprehend that as a child… I didn’t really understand. Then I was labelled a disabled person and there’s nothing positive about disability. My parents were very good at pushing me to be independent and confident, but it’s something you have to learn to deal with.

You’ve accomplished so much and you’re a mum, too. How do you and your partner manage at home with a young child? Libby: We’ve both got our strengths and weaknesses and we completely get one another’s weird, quirky ways. We work really well at looking after Edward. As a new mum, you’re nervous about stuff anyway, as it’s a complete unknown.

Libby with fiancé Dan and baby Edward

Is Edward likely to have the same conditions? Libby: It’s genetic but I’ve got no family history of it. That means there should be a one in four chance of having it, but three out of four of us siblings have had it. Edward won’t have my condition, but he has a 50 per cent chance of having Dan’s (cone rod dystrophy). We’ll find out in February.

Are you worried? Libby: I’d prefer him to be sighted, because I don’t want him to have any additional challenges in his life, but I won’t treat him any differently if he has sight or not. Either way he’ll be brought up to know you can achieve anything. I try to look at the positives.

You’re working with the Guide Dogs charity. What does your guide dog Hatti mean to you? Libby: I’ve had Hatti for five and a half years and I couldn’t imagine life without her. Before I had Hatti one of the main issues I had was people’s perceptions. As a country of dog lovers, my interactions with people were more positive after I got her. I didn’t have to explain myself, because people would stroke the dog. When you’ve had a bad day she always wants to give you cuddles. oleen Rooney has more holidays each year than we have hot dinners, so it’s no surprise the mumof-four has been hitting the gym hard to ensure she’s bikini ready for her next trip away. Last week, the 33-year-old uploaded a string of snaps showing her being put through her paces and confessed she was “aching” following her tough exercise classes. Now we can reveal exactly how the WAG maintains her toned figure. We’ve been told that Coleen is a “regular” face at Rise Fitness Studios in Liverpool. atie Price has a reputation for being a thorn in her exes’ sides, but never more so than now. We can reveal Peter Andre and Kieran Hayler are at their wits’ end with the star over her recent erratic behaviour – and they’re not the only ones. An insider told new that Katie’s antagonising antics have left ex-husband Pete, with whom she has son Junior, 14, and daughter Princess, 12, feeling as though he’s banging his head against a brick wall – and it’s even having an impact on his wife Emily. “Kate says things like, ‘You’ve changed’ and tells him he’s not the man she knew, but Pete argues that he’s now the man he was before he met her,” our source explained. “Pete tries to keep the peace to make life easier, but he feels Kate always slips up and then does something stupid. The problem is she seems oblivious to her wrongdoings – she just blames everyone else. It’s frustrating for him, and even Emily has been pushed to breaking point.” The mole told us the 41-year-old’s “selfish” behaviour is pushing estranged husband Kieran to the edge, too. The former stripper – the father of Kate’s youngest children, Jett, six, and Bunny, five – was said to be furious after she nearly ruined his romantic holiday to the Maldives with girlfriend Michelle Pentecost earlier this month because of a mix-up over collecting the children. “She was supposed to pick them up from Kieran’s mum’s on the day he went to the Maldives, but she didn’t show up and sent a nanny to get them instead,” revealed our source. “Kieran’s furious and thinks she’s being selfish.” Meanwhile, it looks like Katie is doing little to help her cause. KERRY wn and why Our columnist on slimming do Love Island she’d let her daughters loose on

SHIFTING WEIGHT AND TEETH! Well I’m dead chuffed! After training hard with Ryan, I’ve managed to lose some more weight and I’m feeling really good about myself. I even tried on a pair of Lilly’s size 8 shorts the other day and guess what? They’re too big for me! As well as using Skinny Jab, which helps control my appetite, and working out, I’ve eaten all the right things, so I’m delighted with the results. Let’s face it, it never hurts to be shagging a personal trainer! I also got my mouth seen to last week by the lovely Dr Shaffie at The Sandford Dental Centre. I’ve had three rotten teeth extracted, which was an experience. Apparently, while under the anaesthetic, I began singing Whole Again at the top of my voice. What can I say? Not even sedation can stop me entertaining!

LET ‘EM LOVE So Zoe Ball would “disown” her son Woody if he went on Love Island, eh? I was quite shocked when I read that, because it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest if my Molly or Lilly wanted to give it a go. I’d actively encourage it, in fact. Get on the telly, make a fortune and buy me a house please, girls! I don’t really see the difference between doing a programme like Love Island or The Circle, which Woody appeared in last year. To me, all reality shows are the same – great experiences that are what you make them. And, as Dani Dyer proved, you don’t have to have sex on TV. But I know my girls would never do that. I’d kill them if they did!

ZAYN’S GOOD DEED

28

I was very impressed to read that Zayn Malik has donated thousands of pounds to a five-year-old girl for her cancer treatment. What a fantastic good deed. I think it’s so important to be charitable and it’s something I practise daily. Just the other day I took the Jenny Packham dress I wore to the 2004 Brit Awards to my local charity shop. As you lot will know, I’ve taken my girls to women’s refuges before and donated toys to the homeless. I’ve been in bad situations throughout my life, so I never take for granted just how lucky I am.

PAP PRESSURE I can understand why Coldplay singer Chris Martin lost his temper with autograph hunters. He was obviously overwhelmed and told them to “show a little decency” when they started yelling at him. I can relate to that, thanks to my experiences with the paps. There’s nothing worse than grown men throwing themselves on the bonnet of your car and falling over each other just to get a picture of you. I’ve been blessed with my fans, though. We had some lovely people requesting autographs at the panto who were no bother at all.

‘ We w a n t a h o u s e f u l l o f g i rl s ! ’ The Real Housewives Of Cheshire stars Hanna and Martin Kinsella spill on starting a family, sleepless nights and developing a thick skin

anna and Martin Kinsella are still very much in the honeymoon period after getting married in a stunning ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral last September – as many new readers will have seen on The Real Housewives Of Cheshire. It was the city where the couple first met and fell in love while studying at university 13 years ago. Life since then, they admit, has been hectic. As well as filming the ITVBe show, the pair have been working with volunteering charity African Impact, setting up a YouTube channel as well as running their own successful businesses. Hanna, 31, owns a dental practice, while Martin, 38, heads up a handful of cosmetic clinics in the UK and Majorca, so it’s no surprise their diaries are jam-packed. Squeezing us into their full-on schedule ahead of the upcoming series in February, the newlyweds invite us into the Cheshire home they’ve shared for the past two years to discuss all things RHOCH. While Martin makes guest appearances on the series, Hanna, who’s a fully-fledged Housewife, caused bedlam when she first hit our screens in season eight. And three series down the line, she’s still finding herself embroiled in the drama. The cosmetic dentist has had run-ins with Tanya Bardsley, Dawn Ward and most recently

Ester Dee after she wasn’t invited to Hanna’s wedding. Speaking of the backlash, the reality star tells us you need a “thick skin” to be a Real Housewife. “You’ve got to have a mix of specific traits to want to do it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea,” she admits. “I think I’d have a hard time convincing some of my friends to go on there.” The couple are also hoping to add children to their happy household and admit that being “massive planners” makes it tough to accept that fate will decide whether they’ll welcome a mini Kinsella in 2020. “We’ll see what happens,” the duo tell us. Here, Martin and Hanna talk about the highs and lows of fame, dealing with the Cheshire drama and having a go at presenting… Hi guys! How’s married life? Martin: It’s alright, isn’t it? Hanna: It’s nice. People keep saying to me, “Is it different?” I don’t think it is day to day, but you feel more bonded. You feel more connected in a weird way. Martin: We were living like a married couple before, weren’t we? Hanna: It takes you to that next step. Did you suffer from any postwedding blues? Hanna: The good thing was five days after the wedding we went straight on honeymoon to South Africa. We were away for two and a half weeks.

‘We argue all the time – we’re dominant characters’ Martin: We’re so busy as well. Hanna: I loved my wedding and I loved planning it, but I’m glad that box has been ticked now. Life sounds blissful. Do you ever have arguments? Hanna: [Laughs] Yes! Martin: All the time. Hanna: We’re both alpha and dominant characters. We always joke that with our star signs – I’m the ram [Aries] and he’s the bull [Taurus] – they’ve both got sharp horns. I think it’s healthy. What can we expect from the next series of The Real Housewives Of Cheshire? Hanna: We’re developing a product together. It’s another business we’re setting up,

which will be a running storyline. We’ve also talked about having a family… Martin: We’ve talked about it quite a lot. Hanna: I’m like, “I want babies!” Martin: Like every day… Is that something you’re thinking about soon? Hanna: Well, you never know. It’s funny because we’re both massive planners in our professional lives. This is the one thing you just don’t have any control over. You just have to let nature run its course and see what happens. Martin: You can’t take it for granted. It happens when it happens. We’d both…

Hanna: Like a family. Martin: It really excites us. I think we’re secretly hoping. Hanna: Secretly broody. [Laughs] Martin: Now every time I see a baby I’m nudging Hanna and making funny faces at them. I’ve always wanted to do it and so has Hanna. Your schedules are so packed. How will you fit a baby in? Hanna: I don’t know how on earth a baby’s going to fit in! Martin: We’ve got a lot of support around us. You’ll need to fit some alone time together into your schedule… Hanna: I know! Martin: We had some over the Christmas period.

How many kids would you like? Hanna: I would like a big family – four kids ideally. I’m conscious I’m getting on now. I’m going to be 32 in March. Do you want girls or boys? Martin: We want girls. Hanna: I’d like a house full of girls, but Martin’s like… Martin: You take what you’re given. Anything you have is a blessing, but I think ideally you’d like girls, wouldn’t you? But it would be nice to have one boy, if we could pick. We’ve got our fingers crossed. Did you enjoy being on the last series of The Real Housewives Of Cheshire, Hanna? Hanna: Yeah. I think I was able

31

to be more myself, because my position in the group had got a lot stronger. I also had the wedding to concentrate on. It was a lot more enjoyable. You and Ester clashed at the reunion. Can you two ever be friends? Hanna: I’m the type of person who lets things go. I don’t hold on to grudges and I don’t like having enemies. It was like me and Tanya. For ages, people were saying, “You’re never going to see eye to eye.” And we’ve done a bit of a 180 degrees now. That’s the thing with Housewives, we have ups and downs. And deep down we do love each other. Despite all the drama… Hanna: We do end up scrapping over silly things, but you’re going to have more in common with some people and less with others. At the end of the day I can’t be arsed holding grudges. It makes things more complicated and negative. Hopefully we can sort it out. What do you make of the newest Housewife, Leilani Dowding? Hanna: I like Leilani. I think she’s

We’ve ended up “How do you think that looks?” It having a laugh and we’re getting affects both of us massively. on really well now.

That’s good news… Hanna: It was quite a poignant turning point. I remember Rachel [Lugo] kept saying to her, “Oh Tan, you’re really going to get on with Hanna.” And Tanya was like, “No, I’m not.” And it was in the second series when we went away, me and Tan were sat next to each other and I was telling her a story and she was laughing her head off. And then we ended up getting on. You got a lot of flak in the last series for not inviting some of the cast members to your wedding. Did that annoy you? Martin: You were expecting it, weren’t you? Hanna: Yeah. To be honest, I said it a million times, weddings are planned so far in advance so at the time when the invites were going out I was in a bad place with all of the girls. So me and Martin sat down and we made that decision. It’s our day and we wanted to have a nice day. I didn’t want to look around and see people who I’m in the middle of an argument with, so we knew we were going to get some stick.

‘Deep down we do love each other on Housewives’ Housewives is super glam. Do you feel pressure to look good all the time, Hanna? Hanna: I’m quite easy going. I’m a lot more aware, but it doesn’t stop me. Sometimes with the other cast members and knowing you’re going to be on camera you do think, “Oh God. I’ve put on a bit of weight.” But I wouldn’t say it’s really pressured me. I’m comfortable in my own skin. If I’ve put on a few pounds it’s not the end of the world. Martin: We like to have a good life, don’t we? How have you both been reacting to your newfound fame? Hanna: We were talking about this the other night and we were saying how crazy it is now. We go out in Manchester and, I’m not joking, one in four people will come over. It’s funny because people look at you like they know

you. Or they’ll come up to you and go, “Your wedding was amazing!” You’re thinking, “Are they a patient? Do I know this person?” Martin: We come into contact with so many people through work and they acknowledge you as if they know you. Hanna: And then you realise they’ve just watched the show. A lot of the responses that we get from the public are so positive and lovely. Would you like to do any more reality shows? Hanna: It’s not a priority for me. I’m not too fussed about getting on ‘Celebs do this or that’. Never say never and if that opportunity came up we’d have to think about it, but we’re not gunning for it. What else have you got planned for 2020? Hanna: We’ve got a few exciting things coming up, haven’t we?!

‘We quite fancy TV presenting’

Martin: Loads, yeah! Hanna: We’re working with African Impact. We did some medical volunteering for them on honeymoon and it was amazing. So we’re thinking about doing a big charity ball in September. That should be fun. Since the wedding I love organising events. Martin: She’s a very good event organiser! Hanna: We’ve also started a YouTube channel and we’re doing a bit of everything on there really. Martin: There’s a bit of skincare on there, too. Hanna: I’m doing a couple of dental videos. Plus, we’ve been asked to be ambassadors for National Smile Month, which is fabulous because it really means so much to us as dentists. Martin: National Smile Month is an amazing charity campaign that promotes good oral health. And we’re also doing Brains Gains, which are videos on career advice for young people. It’s about studying, university and jobs.

Have you always wanted to have a go at TV presenting? Hanna: Yeah, it’s nice to do the YouTube thing, because you’re in control of the content. We work quite well together. Martin: Last time we did an interview I said, “Hanna likes to talk too much and I can never get a word in edgeways,” so I won’t say that today! Hanna: [Laughs] It’s good fun to join forces. Could presenting be on the cards for you? Hanna: I think we’d be pretty good at it. It’s something we’d definitely consider. Our jobs are very different to all the media stuff. Before we joined Housewives we had no experience of TV or media. Martin: We’re just finding our feet with it, really. Hanna: But we quite fancy it. You also give talks in schools. Why is it so important to you to give something back? Hanna: When I went to school, the career advice wasn’t great. It’s hard to know what you want to do at that age. Because we’ve

been through it, to be able to go back and give people advice… Martin: It’s rewarding. Do you have a five-year goal? Hanna: At the moment we’ve both got very busy businesses, but it’d be nice to get to a point where we’ve got multiple businesses and don’t have to work as hard, and have people run them for us. No. I don’t think they would.” We agree!

Last month, Victoria, 45, was said to be upset with David over his closeness to the 46-year-old model. The pair had been pictured sitting together at another Dior show in Miami, which was a slap in the face for Posh after Kate admitted she had a soft spot for the former footballer, saying she’d like to be “Posh, because she’s married to David Beckham.” But although Kate and Vic

looked like the best of friends in Paris, body language expert Judi James says there are tell-tale signs that they are far from close. “Although Kate does appear to be using eye contact and smiling as she chats to Victoria, her pose suggests this is a long way from a meeting between best buddies,” Judi tells new. “Her legs are crossed away from Victoria and her back is effectively turned away, meaning she’s communicating over one shoulder – not the kind of rapt attention Victoria is used to.” Judi adds that Kate appears to have the upper hand during their exchange, suggesting Posh might be feeling less than confident sitting between her husband and the former supermodel. “Interestingly it’s Victoria who seems to lower her head slightly in Kate’s presence, leaning forward to listen and then raising

HOW DID IT FEEL THE FIRST TIME YOU FELL IN LOVE?

It’s like a connection you can’t really explain. I was obsessed with one of my exes and thought I was so in love with him – but then I met someone else and I was like, “Nooo!”

WHAT’S BEEN YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING DATING EXPERIENCE?

I went out on a date, got too drunk and threw up in the cab on the way home. I opened the door, but it was too late.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD YOUR HEART BROKEN?

I’ve had two heartbreaks. The first time, we split up because we were just young, not because anything happened. The second time was worse because I got cheated on and it was so out of my control. I felt sick.

Ex-Sugababe Heidi Range, who was joined by hubby Alex Partakis at the premiere, revealed their two-year-old daughter Aurelia “absolutely loved” the movie. RY EVEEEK! W This week, Pete admits he’d dabble with surgery but wouldn’t allow Emily to organise his clothes

BOTOX OR NOT TO BOTOX? Recently I’ve been filming something about the ins and outs of cosmetic procedures for men, and last week I visited a clinic in Cheshire with Emily’s younger brother Tom. He’s also a doctor and while we were there he was actually being supervised administering Botox, which I found quite fascinating. I’ve always spoken out about the baby Botox I’ve had. I don’t see anything wrong with having little tweaks done

here and there. There are so many new non-invasive procedures available that if the opportunity ever arose for me to try some out, I think I would.

Hockey mum I shared a really cute video of Emily teaching Amelia some hockey moves last week. Emily’s mum Becs is a fantastic hockey player and Emily used to play the sport herself, so now Amelia has joined a local team. It’s sweet Emily can pass on what her mum taught her to Millie. Bista’s more into her horses, so has lessons at stables in our village, which she loves.

MY VIEW ON THE NEWS

No need for speed

46

New guidelines are being proposed to ensure speeding motorists who rack up 12 or more penalty points aren’t able to dodge a driving ban by claiming disqualification would cause “exceptional hardship”. The crackdown follows evidence that a third of drivers escape the usual six-month ban by claiming a disqualification

would result in a severe outcome such as losing their job. It seems everyone has a reason as to why they speed, but the law shouldn’t be bent because driving too quickly can be fatal. We’ve all been there – no one’s perfect. I had to do a speed awareness course a few years ago and it really made a difference to how I drive.

BACK ON TRACK I’m currently writing and putting together my first album in years, specifically for touring. I want to release something for summer, but I haven’t decided if I want to do it the traditional way through the charts and record labels or through social platforms. I’m working with some incredible producers and great young

writers both in the UK and overseas. It’s very exciting! Speaking of new music, Lady Gaga is about to launch her pop comeback and has credited the former members of N-Dubz on two of her new songs. I’ve worked with other artists, but no one as big as Lady Gaga – not yet, anyway, haha.

POOR BECKS I totally related to Victoria Beckham poking fun at David for laying his clothes out before he goes to bed. He sounds just like my wife! Emily’s the organised one out of us and always has her uniform ready the night before. I’m lastminute.com, but I like it that way. I don’t think I’d like it if Em started laying clothes out for me. She wouldn’t anyway. Who am I kidding?!

paralysed with fear. My brain was whirring, wondering what on earth was going on. “How could somebody I had trusted do this to me?” I wanted to scream. After it was over, James got up and went into the living room where I could hear the sounds of the TV. I just lay awake all night in shock and fear. The next day he behaved as normal in front of his wife. But when she went to bed, the same thing happened again. On the Monday, when I went back to the care home, I didn’t tell anyone what had happened. I didn’t tell my teachers either because I was afraid they wouldn’t believe me. It continued like this every single weekend for what seemed like forever. I don’t know if Maureen knew what her husband was doing, but if she did, she never did anything about it. James would always be the one to tuck me into bed, a ritual I came to dread. One day I plucked up the courage to tell Colin back at the care home. “You little liar!” he shouted, and proceeded to tell everybody about the “nonsense” I was supposedly spouting.

what had happened, but the memories kept coming back, especially when I was alone in bed at night. After I graduated, I got a job at Tesco. I hadn’t trusted anyone my whole life, so one day when a man at the bus stop started talking to me on the way to work, I was immediately wary. “I’m Terry,” he grinned. The way he looked at me, with respect and kindness, made me feel the best I’d ever felt. From then on, we’d chat every morning while we waited for the bus. “So, how are you?” he’d ask me cheerfully. I suddenly realised nobody had ever asked me how I was before. It wasn’t long before we became a couple and, in March 1994, we got married. Terry made me feel special – he still does to this day. About a year into our relationship, I nervously confided in Terry, telling him all about my past and what I’d been through. He was horrified, but so understanding. One day in 2018, with his support, I decided to do something I never thought I would. I called the police and told them everything. All they knew was that Ryan had nipped out to the chippy, from his friend’s house, to get them something to eat. He’d been in his blue Toyota on his own and we were told he hadn’t been drinking. It was raining heavily and the police thought he’d lost control and skidded on a bend. He’d smashed into three parked cars, wrecking his own car so badly that those who saw what had happened thought it might explode. Most were afraid to approach, but one brave woman ran up and opened the door. Ryan’s injuries were so terrible she was sure he was dying and despite the pleas of other onlookers, who were shouting at her to get away before the car exploded, she insisted on climbing in beside him to hold him in what she believed were his final moments. After five hours of surgery, Ryan was taken to intensive care, still unconscious. We sat by his side day and night, but he didn’t seem to make any progress. Nine days later, Ryan was moved to the Royal Preston Hospital, nearer our home. He was barely conscious, paralysed and unable to talk or eat. It was heartbreaking,

thinking back to what a lively young man he’d been – so full of promise and plans. But I was determined not to give up on him. Ollie and his other mates took it in turns to visit every day so he was never alone. In the new year he was moved again, to a nursing home in Ormskirk, Lancs, for rehabilitation. We visited every day. It was so hard for Anna and Ben, too. ‘I’m trying new ways of training’

Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, 32, on eating less meat and embracing mindfulness HEIGHT 5FT 6IN DRESS SIZE 8 Are you body confident? Fitness went on the backburner a bit last year because I was so busy with work. But I’ve been going back to the gym and have been more mindful of what I’ve been putting in my mouth. I feel better for it.

What’s your exercise routine? On a good week, I’ll train between three to five hours a week. On a bad week, I barely get there. You can’t beat yourself up over these things. Some weeks you’re super busy and you’re lucky if you can fit in a 20-minute HIIT workout before you have to rush off to work. As long as you’re feeling good about yourself and feeling positive, then that’s all that matters.

There’s huge pressure on women to look a certain way. I’ve taken a stand against it – not only how I feel in myself and how I accept myself as a person, but also across social media. I want my Instagram and my general vibe to be, “We’re not perfect and that’s OK.”

Yeah, I love working out with a trainer. Ercan [Ramadan, her boyfriend] and I have got a gym in our apartment building, so I’ve got no excuse. I’ve recently tried to discover new ways of training. I want to challenge myself a bit, so I’ve taken up boxing and I’ve recently tried zero gravity Pilates – Pilates on a reformer machine. I’m trying to get into yoga, but that’s more for mindfulness rather than physical fitness.

NUTRITION CONSULTANT IAN MARBER SAYS… “Avocado on toast combines monounsaturated fats with a little protein and fibre from the toast, and the egg helps add more protein, which reduces appetite for longer. “It’s good to see Vicky includes salmon as it’s a good source of omega 3 fats, helpful for heart and skin health, as well as selenium, an important mineral with antioxidant properties. “Like all brightly coloured fruits and vegetables, sweet potatoes and carrots are good sources of carotenoids, which may help reduce inflammation. “Vicky has sensible snacks too, as nuts offer fibre and protein, and 30g a day of unsalted nuts can help reduce cholesterol levels. CREAMY CHICKEN AND CHARRED BROCCOLI PASTA

Charred broccoli adds colour and smokiness to this rich pasta dish

WORDS: Georgia Trevitt, Gillian Crawley PHOTOS: Getty, Lauren Volo WORD

INGREDIENTS

4 tbsp olive oil Sliced florets from 2 heads of broccoli Salt and freshly ground black pepper 2 tbsp unsalted butter 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced 1 small onion, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 125ml dry white wine 3 tbsp flour 500ml double cream 250g penne or rigatoni 250g grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving Finely chopped flat-leaf parsley, for serving

METHOD

■ Heat 2 tbsp of the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add half the broccoli and cook for 2 minutes without stirring to develop a little char on the broccoli. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally until the broccoli is tender. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the broccoli to a bowl. Repeat with the remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil and broccoli. ■ Add the butter to the pot and melt. Add the chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes,

stirring until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the chicken to the bowl with the broccoli. ■ Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally until soft and beginning to caramelise. Add the wine and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring until it has completely evaporated. ■ Sprinkle the flour evenly over the onion mixture and cook for 2 minutes, stirring to get the raw taste out of the flour for 2 minutes. Whisk in the cream plus 4 cups of water and bring to a strong

simmer. Stir in the pasta and cook for 15 minutes, stirring often until the pasta is al dente and the liquid has reduced to the consistency of a creamy sauce. Stir in the broccoli and chicken and cook for 1 minute to warm through. ■ Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the Parmesan, then season with salt and pepper. Spoon the pasta into bowls and sprinkle with more Parmesan and parsley. Serve hot. Extracted from Tasty Every Day (£20, Ebury Press)

NEW WAYS TO BEAT NECK PAIN From specialist clothing to adjustable pillows, discovers the latest tools to fight discomfort

A

ll sorts of everyday activity can cause neck pain, from sitting hunched over a computer or using a mobile phone for long periods to carrying heavy bags or working in a manual job. “Neck pain is very common and causes substantial disability and economic cost,”

WORDS: Kim Jones PHOTOS: Getty

PATCHES ARE THE NEW PILLS

66

“It might be tempting to turn to oral painkillers, but they can have side effects – and opioid analgesics are increasingly associated with addiction,” says Dr Hood. An alternative is the Deep Heat Muscle Rescue Neck & Shoulder Pain Relieving Heat Patch (£4.29 for two, Boots), which contains minerals that heat up when exposed to air. “They provide up to eight hours of drug-free warming pain relief,” Dr Hood says. “They’re odourless, shaped for comfort over the neck and shoulder area and can be worn under clothing. You apply once a day and leave in situ.”

says health broadcaster and writer Dr Catherine Hood. “About 10 to 20 per cent of the population are reported to suffer from neck pain at any one time. A tiny niggle can gradually – or even rapidly – develop into chronic pain if you do nothing.” So don’t delay. Here’s how to ease your neck issues – in all sorts of ways.

PERCUSSIVE THERAPY – GAIN WITHOUT PAIN The Theragun (from £229, theragun.uk) is a chiropractor-developed massage gun that delivers percussive therapy – pulses calibrated at a specific high amplitude and low frequency designed to override pain signals to the brain. This encourages blood flow, relieves muscle tension and improves the range of motion “A good sleeping position should keep your spine and joints correctly aligned,” says Rosalind Ferry, author of The Posture Pain Fix. “When lying on your side, take the hand that rests closest to the bed and place it under your neck. Feel for any upward or downward tilt on the pillow. There should be no space or lack of support

PERFECT PILLOWS

in the area of the body you’re massaging. The device uses repetitive strokes 16mm deep into muscle, 40 times a second – 60 per cent deeper than vibration massagers. Users say it’s like having a deep tissue massage, but without the pain. from the pillow at this junction. A good position allows your neck to lie in a straight line from the rest of your spine.” For the perfect pillow fit for you, try Otty Sleep’s Adjustable Pillow (£84.99, otty.com), which has foam inserts you can add to or remove depending on your plumpness preference. Or hug up to the Kally Pillow (£49.99, kallysleep.com), a long, banana-shaped pillow that encourages you into the relaxed foetal position, keeping the head, neck and spine aligned.

HEALTH TAKE UP T’AI CHI The slow, controlled, meditative movements of t’ai chi are just as effective as traditional rehabilitation exercises for neck pain, according to a study published in The Journal of Pain. Check out taichiunion.com for instructors or classes near you.

SPINE-ALIGNING CLOTHING

WEAR THE RIGHT GLASSES If your vision isn’t perfect or you’re wearing the wrong prescription glasses, it’s natural to push your neck forwards to read a computer screen or backwards to read close-up work. Holding these sorts of postures for any length of time can lead to neck strain. You should get your eyes checked every two years and have your glasses properly fitted by an optician. “If they’re not fitted correctly, glasses can cause the wearer to tilt their head in an attempt to improve their vision,” explains Amy Laux, clinical governance manager at Optical Express.

WALL NODS Postural neck pain can often be the result of weak deep neck flexor muscles, which sit in the front of the neck behind the windpipe. Try this simple exercise to strengthen these muscles and help you achieve better posture… “Stand with your back against the wall, feet slightly apart and away from wall,” says Dan Boulle, strength and conditioning coach at performancepro.fitness. “Slide the back of your head up the wall in a nodding motion, ensuring your head maintains contact with wall at all times. Stop as you the feel stretch at the back of your head or when your eyes reach a horizontal plane. Hold for 10 seconds and then relax back to start position. Repeat 12 times.”

SHOCK-ABSORBING SHOES

Good posture can help ease back and neck pain, but sometimes we need a little reminder to stop jutting our heads forward and pulling our shoulders up towards our ears. The CEP Winter Wingtech Shirt (£75, cepsports.co.uk) has “smartwingtech stripes” running over each shoulder blade, which help draw the shoulders back and push the chest forward. If you slouch, you’ll feel a gentle pressure on your scapula muscles from the smart stripes, encouraging you back into a perfect posture position – whether at your desk, watching telly or out for a run.

Uncomfortable, unsupportive shoes make you change your natural gait. As a result you might set your spine out of alignment, causing poor posture and, in turn, back and neck pain. Well-fitting, supportive and shock-absorbing shoes soak up the impact as your feet hit the ground, so the rest of your body doesn’t have to. This helps relax the spine and supports your body’s natural movements when walking. Try the shock-absorbing Relife selection of footwear (from £39.99, pavers.co.uk).

GO NORDIC WALKING Nordic Walking – an enhanced form of walking using poles, not unlike cross country skiing – has many health benefits, including easing back and neck pain. Studies have found that using

Nordic walking poles with the correct technique helps strengthen the large back muscles that pull the shoulder blades down, which can alleviate neck and shoulder tension. For more information, visit nordicwalkingforhealth.co.uk.

APP FOR APPOINTMENTS Say goodbye to lengthy waits for physio appointments with the new Reach Active app (from £19.99 a month, reachactive.co). It puts you in touch with qualified physiotherapists who can devise a personalised plan to tackle your neck pain. The service begins with an

online assessment, then you’re sent a programme of exercises (complete with videos so you can see how to do them) and have regular checks to ensure the plan is working for you. You can also contact one of the team if you have concerns or questions.

BRING ON THE LIVE SHOWS! With the competition heating up, we caught up with The Greatest Dancer judges as we head into the live finals

C

heryl Tweedy, Oti Mabuse, Matthew Morrison and Todrick Hall have chosen their acts and now The Greatest Dancer is about to get serious! With the live shows kicking off this week, the judges tell us what we can expect and who their biggest competition is…

CHERYL ‘I HAD GOOSE BUMPS FROM THE START’

Cheryl’s excited to work with The Queens

72

What made you choose your final three? I chose Lily and Joseph because their ability at their age was so impressive and I just knew we would work well together. As for The Queens, they were interesting and different and I know I can do great things with them, which I think is exciting for the viewers and myself. And I chose Brothers Of Dance because of the way I felt when I watched them. I had goose bumps from the start to the finish and that’s always a good sign. What are you doing to help prepare your acts ahead of the live shows? They’ve all been training so hard. I’m there to advise and encourage and make sure they’re feeling strong mentally as well as physically. Who’s your biggest competition? I think they’re all competitors in their own way, but Harrison is extremely talented, and so is Hannah.

ZONEIN MATTHEW ‘CHERYL HAS A STRONG SQUAD’

TODRICK ‘MY ACTS ARE GOING TO INSPIRE YOUNG PEOPLE’ Dancepoint caught his eye

inspire others and impact their lives. My acts aren’t just going to give amazing performances, but they’re going to inspire young people across the country to chase their dreams, too. Who’s your biggest competition? I think Harrison is an amazing storyteller and a great performer. Lily and Joseph are equally adorable as they are talented and are great contenders in the competition.

OTI ‘I WANT THEM TO FEEL FREE’ What made you choose your final three? I was drawn to ADA Dark Angels because they have a hardcore fire in them. They seem like a true family. They stood out to me and because I’ve never worked with a hip-hop crew before, I felt I could give them something fresh. Vale are so different

ADA Dark Angels bring hip-hop moves

to any other group we saw at the auditions. They engaged the whole audience as they had such a powerful story to tell. Finally, Michael and Jowita are part of my ballroom and Latin dance world. I know we can create some incredible routines and hopefully some original ideas that the public haven’t seen before. What are you doing to help prepare your acts ahead of the live shows? We’re putting in the hours and challenging ourselves to bring out their personalities through their performances. I want them to feel free when they dance. Who’s your biggest competition? I want to instil self-evaluation and self-motivation in my acts. I teach them to believe in themselves and be the best they can be. Everyone is different and amazing and if they focus on themselves, then they don’t have to compare themselves to others.

WORDS: Sarah Morton

What made you choose your final three? There were so many amazing acts that I couldn’t choose based just on technical ability. I chose based on how they made me feel at their audition and who I thought I could mentor and coach to potentially win the show. Each one of my acts – Dancepoint, Ainsley and Ryan – did a performance that spoke to me, along with their story and personality. What are you doing to help prepare your acts ahead of the live shows? I’m trying to help them identify who they are as an artist and get their personality across. It’s hard to be able to connect to an audience in such little time, but if you’re able to do that you can

What made you choose your final three? ee? Last series I was looking for flashy numbers mbers and polished artists, this year I went with my heart and chose acts who really moved me. Harrison is so dynamic, there’s nothing he won’t try, and he throws himself into everything. I really love that spirit in him. Hannah really moved me. I chose her as my dancer of the day because she has so much power, poise and strength. She has a real shot of winning the whole show. Ross and Travis remind me of myself – they love to make fun of themselves. selves. They’re hard hitting awesome B Boys and that’s how I was as a younger lad. What are you doing to help prepare your our acts ahead of the live shows? I’ve been working hard with the creative ve team and choreographers to get my acts ready for the live shows. I can’t wait to see these awesome artists show their true potential. Who’s your biggest competition? Cheryl has a very strong squad this year. Lily and Joseph are amazing, they almost intimidate me as they are so strong at such a young age and they have that cuteness factor. They’re Harrison has lots of fantastic artists and really attitude likeable and I think they’ll be tough competition.

Harvey: I’m binge-watching Glee from the very beginning. I watched it when I was younger, but I wasn’t quite old enough to understand all of the content. Max: My guilty pleasure is anything on Nickelodeon when our little sister is watching it. Harvey: The funniest person on television is comedian James Acaster. His sense of humour is so dry, it’s hilarious. Max & Harvey: Our dream duet would be with The Chainsmokers. We saw them live when we were in Buenos Aires. Meryl Streep was a shoe-in for the Best Actress Award in 2012, after impressing as Mrs Thatcher in The Iron Lady. But her big moment was almost ruined when she lost her heel en route to give her winner’s speech. Luckily, presenter Colin Firth put his best foot forward and like the true Prince Charming he is, got down on one knee to slip the shoe back on. Cue big hugs from a very grateful Meryl – or Cinderella, as she was known for the rest of the evening.

PUCKER UP! 2015 Stephen Fry was the event’s go-to host for years – his charm, wit and ability to make the crowd feel comfortable made him the perfect choice. Take 2015, when he strode into the audience during his opening monologue and Michael Keaton and Ed Norton both kissed him on the cheeks. When Cuba Gooding Jr later took to the stage to present an award, he told the guests he was “jealous” Stephen hadn’t kissed him – prompting Mr Fry to walk over and give him a big ol’ smooch.

THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES WEDNESDAY 5 FEB, 9PM, SKY COMEDY

This brand new US comedy follows a family of devious televangelists hell-bent on parting viewers from their cash while, er, preaching the word of the lord. Danny McBride plays Bible-bashing small-screen preacher Jesse Gemstone, who’s desperate to follow in the fraudulent footsteps of his dad Eli (John Goodman). Meanwhile, his younger brother Kelvin wants to prove himself as a hipster pastor, while their sister Judy just wants the family to treat her as an equal. Holy hilarity.

Fans of this devilishly dark cult comedy will be thrilled to see it’s back for a fifth series of one-off twisted tales. The first episode sees co-creators and stars Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton joined by David

Morrissey and Ralf Little as football match officials overseeing the last game of the season – a crunch clash between United and Rovers. It’s a tale of promotion, relegation, corruption and much, much more. We can’t wait!

LAUNCH DATE: 7 FEBRUARY

Considering it’s co-written by the woman behind The Haunting Of Hill House, we’re expecting this supernatural thriller – based on the cult American comic book series by Stephen King’s son Joe Hill, no less – to scare the bejesus out of us. The story revolves around three siblings who, after the

We were as shocked as Jennifer Aniston that Adam Sandler was snubbed by the Oscars for his role in this crime caper set in New York’s diamond district (which makes Hatton Garden look like Camberwick Green). The actress gave a shout out to her pal at the SAG Awards,

calling his performance “extraordinary” – and we can’t disagree. The comic actor plays against type as Howard, a reckless jewellery dealer addicted to gambling, drugs and women, whose prayers seem to be answered when he comes across a 600ct black opal diamond. Will he turn his life around before angry gangsters catch up with him?

THE LIGHTHOUSE WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

It’s New England, it’s ye olden days (well, the 19th century) and two men are slowly going mad on a tiny island just off the coast of Maine. Ephraim (a smouldering Pattinson) has been sent to help elderly miser Thomas (the fantastic Dafoe) tend to his lighthouse and for four weeks the men must live and work together. But dark forces are at play – and when Ephraim’s not busy dreaming about sexy dead mermaids, he’s obsessing over why Thomas won’t let him tend to the light. As a storm hits the island, the men turn to drink – and things get really weird.

This masterpiece, which is as close to a modern day Hitchock horror as you can get, is filmed entirely in black and white and the eerie soundtrack – regularly punctuated with a blasting foghorn – creates an atmosphere of isolation and terror at sea. The two lead actors command the screen at all times, using old sea-faring language that only adds to the madness. MARY BERRY’S DELIVER-NOOOO

How very sad that Thomas Markle felt the need to tell the world about his fractured relationship with his daughter Meghan. In a Channel 5 documentary, he described how the I remember Mary Berry saying she never bungs a ready royal family, Meghan and Harry “owe” meal in the microwave – and now she’s gone one step him. He also opened up the family albums further by announcing she’s never had a takeaway! to show footage of Meghan as a child. “Why should I?” she said. “I can muster up things I’m really torn about what to think. It’s not the actions of a very quickly and there are many things you can buy loving parent to go on national TV, but I think Thomas feels badly to help you if you’re busy and which don’t cost that let down by his daughter and her husband. He probably feels much extra, like grated cheese.” speaking out is the only way to reach her. Hmm, grated cheese. I hate to say it but I don’t I always found it odd that Harry didn’t fly out to meet him think some shredded cheddar is going to make before the wedding. I think if he had, none of this sorry much difference if it comes to me ordering in or not. mess would have followed. Surely the best thing would I love cooking from scratch, but despite my best be to sort it out behind closed doors. Thomas is intentions, I usually order in about once a week. It’s 75 and not in the best of health. It would not ideal, given the cost to both my wallet and the planet, be a tragedy if he never got to meet but who doesn’t want a nice greasy packet of fish and chips his grandson or see his once in a while? Not Mary, obviously – but she doesn’t know daughter again. what she’s missing!

I’m not sure that Beyoncé’s new Ivy Park range is going to be a top seller in the UK after supermarket chain Sainsbury’s tweeted a photo highlighting the resemblance between her kit and its maroon and orange uniforms. It’s uncanny how similar they are. And it isn’t just the colour – even the fabric looks the same, too. I can’t help thinking Bey must have popped into a Sainsbury’s Local for a Curly Wurly while over in the UK and been inspired – albeit subconsciously!

78

How brilliant for Sainsburys – or, ahem, Sainsbeys – staff everywhere, who can now go to work with an extra spring in their step, knowing their uniform is the height of fashion. But it wasn’t just Beyoncé who was left red-faced last week. Posh scored a fashion own goal (pun alert!) when one of her new jumper designs was likened to the West Ham strip. You’d think Becks would have pointed out her fashion faux-pas when flicking through her sketches, wouldn’t you?!

COUTURE COPY-CATS!

I think we can all officially say that Brad Pitt is hot again, right? Not only did he get our wombs twitching last week with that hand grab with his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, but he also revealed he has a Tinder profile! OK, so he was probably joking, and when he says Tinder he may actually mean Raya, the super-elite dating service for rich and successful people. But just in case Brad’s hiding in a little known corner of the popular dating app advertising for his soulmate, it might be worth fans scrubbing up their profiles in case this reunion with Jen doesn’t get off the ground.

With her fiancé Oliver

I HOPE I’VE INSPIRED YOUNG PEOPLE to live their dreams and that I’ve sp spread as much light and positivity as I can. I CAN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE HO WITHOUT my Kiss lashes. I’m loving the Naked N Drama lashes, because they’re very wispy and feathery and they’ve still got the drama, but they feel very light. I’m obsessed with them.

MY PLAN B would be songwriting. I do that for myself anyway, but if I couldn’t be an artist that’s what I’d be doing.

IF THE WORLD WAS TO END TOMORROW I’d be with my family and Oliver and my best friend. I’d spend the whole 24 hours with them. We’d be in London, because it’s my favourite city.
