REBECCA EDMONDS - GRADUATED 2004 I started at CCC as a foundation student in preschool with the amazing Jo Schumack and I graduated in 2004. I have many memories of my time at this school, in three different locations - Christian Family, Kidgell Street and where it is now. While there are so many that could be mentioned, one of my favourite memories would be being carried across the stage dressed as a little sheep in ‘We Like Sheep’, on our Principal’s shoulders. If any one remembers how small I was (and still short!) and how tall Mark Hodges was – they would understand.

us as friends and family at the table. With my husband Trent, it was an adventure to move back home to the Mary Valley and embark on our café, Kandanga Kitchen where we get to work directly with farmers and offer an ever changing delicious menu. Our shop kelpie, Flick, must also get a mention – as people take just as many photos of her, as they do our food! This is where Meg Owen comes in. Spending our whole school life together at CCC, we remain very close friends. Meg is an accomplished chef having worked in high end restaurants in Sydney and Brisbane. When it turned out she had returned to Gympie around the same time we were planning the café – we snapped her up as our chef! Her skills and versatility are so fun to work with when planning the menu.

Of course time moved on from school musicals unfortunately, I graduated and moved to Brisbane to study. 12 years in Brisbane gave me the opportunity to work in some fantastic roles in State Government and the Not-for-profit sectors in project management, but also travel.

I have a love for the community and the environment, along with a passion for food - how it is grown with good stewardship of land and animals, and how it connects

It is a privilege to cater for SHINE*, and it is fantastic to see how much the school has grown and be a part of this community.

*SHINE is a women’s conference organised by Gympie Church of Christ and held at the College in August*
