- What was your attitude to the art world? The world of art, in an indirect way, has always accompanied me. The smell of images oil in my father's studio, his watercolors flowing on paper is part of my childhood, and by trying to imitate, also children's imagination.

- Do you remember your first glare, your first time when you had to shape, spill, rotate on the surface? Yeah, it's a fun case. Image through fog, my mother's memory. While preparing for dinner, playing with a can of red paint, I spilled it on the kitchen table top, and then, with great commitment, rubbing paint on myself and everything around me, I shouted out my "first performance" - tomato soup!

- Which painters have influenced your life and which do you like in today's world? It's a very long list. My understanding of painting was certainly influenced by contact with the timeless work of such artists as Gaugin, Bonnard or Matisse, and in particular Cezanne with his theory of the distribution of colour temperature on the image plane, which is still close to me.

- How did your work develop? Initially, I was doing my artistic research in techniques such as oil or acrylic. At the moment I am concentrating mainly on the watercolor technique, which over time turned out to be closest to my way of expressing myself. Starting from nature, I am heading towards building a new composition, which is the result of combining many impressions, afterimages of the existing situation with memories of them. At the same time, I am also realizing paintings in which I draw directly from the landscape. These works are a kind of painting hygiene, an introduction to the previously mentioned realizations.

- How would you define your style and what are you looking for in painting? My painting is at the meeting point of nature and imagination. These so-called border landscapes are at the same time a tribute to nature with its insightful observation, as well as an imaginary literary fiction with a biographical motif in the background. Creativity that combines the desire to record the landscape penetrating the area of fantasy with consistent building of the image form.

- Why did you choose painting and not another artistic expression? As I mentioned earlier, painting has accompanied me since childhood. From playing with paintbrushes and paints to art education. With time, the way I expressed myself through painting became more and more conscious, it grew with me for better and for worse.

- Does art, for you, have a purpose in itself? Yeah, I think so. Sometimes when I watch my painting, I find that most I treat the elements of the picture only as an excuse to experiment with thejuxtaposition of colours, to differentiate their saturation, or to play with the play of lights in the picture.

- Your favorite sentence. I don't paint it that way because it was there, just because I was there.

ADAM PAPKE, POLISH LANDSCAPE, 56 X 76 CM - Do you think the Gallery is important in the exhibition? I think it is particularly important on the line of contact the artistreceiver. The artist should be focused on recording impressions, which he realizes in great concentration, silence. This is how I understand this deepest message. The role of the Gallery is to read this record properly and to reach a potential customer through promotion, exhibitions. It happens differently, but it is a matter of professionalism in reading, intuition to discover valuable works.

- Which of these works has marked you most? There's a little bit of work like that. I guess the most important is that it was created after a long stay in a special places, painted in focus with respect for nature and this flash of imagination. Sometimes it takes a long time to wait for such a moment, this is why such work is of special importance and should not be disposed of.

- What do you want to broadcast with your works? The message of impressions, their freshness and, at the same time, their impermanence with a painting form which would belong to me.

- What's next for you? Further realizations, plans related to creation, willingness to communicate, interpret, build this new one.

- What would you advise young people who start in this complex world of painting? Humility, patience, not taking shortcuts in creation. Inspired to draw from the masters, while learning the workshop to gradually build up their own language of artistic expression. So as to become a recognizable, independent, free creator.
