Hello The Cryptics. How was your approach to the world of music? This is a broad question. If you’re asking what our approach to listening to music was… I don’t know? We all got Now That’s What I Call Music volume 1 when we were like 5? And now somehow we like Negative Approach.

What bands / people do you consider as your biggest influences? It’s hard to pinpoint a #1 that might be the biggest. The Ramones have always been a crucial collective influence for anyone that’s played in this band pretty much. Listen through their discography. There’s something for everyone. A truly timeless band.

What has been the song that has marked you the most as a band and why? I can’t pick one. We have melodic songs, hardcore punk songs, and darker songs. We resonate with all of them and at least at this time can’t say that one truly defines or marks us. It’s not that simple.

How do you feel now that your new single and video “Face the Day” is out? People have been really digging it and I didn’t expect support like this. A lot of kind words and enthusiasm about the song and video. We’re pretty blown away and very much appreciate everyone’s support.

What have been the biggest difficulties your band has encountered along the way since it formed? Keeping a steady lineup. These things are damn near imposible when you’re an up and coming band. Everyone wants all the work done and isn’t willing to put in time, money and effort to grow. So it can be a huge challenge and it’s why a lot of bands cease to exist.

How long have you worked on this song? I wrote it 9 years ago on someone’s couch on tour. It took me like 10 minutes maybe. Super quick and completely just on the fly. The lyrics I wrote later, when I got back from that tour. We recorded it once on the earlier version of this album (which sucks) back in 2013. It got more details added and just overall made way better, along with the rest of the album.

Do you have any other projects in the making? If yes, can you let us know more about it? We are currently recording the followup record to this right now. We have a small window of time before the Continuous New Behavior tour starts and we figured we’d be as productive as possible.

What would you advise to young people / bands starting in this complex world of music? Young people aren’t getting into this type of music, or any kind of rock in general for that matter. I haven’t seen a young kid at a show with the exception of like someone bringing their kid in many years. Rock is at an all time low right now. It’s sad and I hope that changes entirely. So I’d like to say, hello no one! #trap #vape #netflix
