PLAYERS from Tewantin-Noosa, Cooroy-Eumundi and Gympie Cricket clubs came together for a pre-season warm-up match on 25 September.

Opened by local cricket legend Patsy Fayne (nee May), Patsy said the game was a great opportunity for new players to learn some of the basics before the start of the season.

“Having the northern clubs come together to promote the sport of women’s cricket is a great initiative.”

Cooroy-Eumundi captain Amanda Tie said women’s cricket on the Coast is “going ahead in leaps and bounds”.

“There are two divisions: Tier One and Tier Two. The Cooroy team will be hoping to go one further this season, after making the tier one finals for the last two years, since the women’s team started.”

Players from the Gympie region will be joining the Cooroy team this year while Tewantin-Noosa will be fielding a tier two side as it re-enters the women’s competition after a couple of years’ break.

Games started on 9 October. The competition is open for women aged 14 and over. Anyone interested in playing can contact Brett at Cooroy-Eumundi on 0458 183 418 or Ben Shaw at Tewantin-Noosa on 0406 957 554.

“Arabella Fancourt placed third All Around and second on uneven bars in the girls level 6 open event.

“Grace Henderson and Jaimee-Lee Broad placed in the top five on apparatus in level 4 open and Millie Mactaggart placed second on uneven bars in level 4 u12.

“After a strong Regional Championships performance, Anaya Dickson picked up a bronze medal as part of the level 4 Sunshine Coast Regional Team in the Regional Challenge event.
