Coppell Chamber Update
WINTER 2016
New Year, New Staff, New Home By Kristi Valentine President & CEO Coppell Chamber of Commerce
The Coppell Chamber of Commerce has welcomed with 2016 some changes and I’m excited to share some with you now. Gayle Westapher has joined the Chamber to represent us as our Director of Membership Services. A beloved member of our community on staff at the Coppell Family YMCA, Gayle is respected, known and loved by many in our community and has jumped into her Chamber position with a quick start! Please help us welcome Gayle to the Chamber staff and give her a call to congratulate her on the new job. Our beautiful new Chamber office cottage on Main Street, in Old Town Coppell, is almost ready for us to move-in. We are putting the final touches on this lovely new office space and look forward to welcoming our community into the office in the next month. Many great member businesses and community members have helped us secure this building via our Chamber Building Campaign. We look forward to honoring these businesses and people right on the front porch with a permanent Chamber

Coppell Chamber welcomes Gayle D. Westapher By Ponce Duran
The Coppell Chamber announces the new hire of Gayle D. Westapher as Director of Membership Services. Kristi Valentine, President and CEO of the Coppell Chamber said “The Coppell Chamber is excited to announce the addition of Gayle D. Westapher to our staff as the Director of Membership Services as of January 4, 2016. Gayle has been a member of this community for almost 3 decades and has served in multiple capacities on
staff at the Coppell Family YMCA since 1999. We are so thankful that Gayle will continue to be a vital part of the community of Coppell and will utilize her talents in assisting the business community.” Gayle has lived and worked in Coppell since 1989. She most recently served as the Executive Director of the Coppell Family YMCA. “I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the Coppell Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Membership Services. When Kristi told me
that Lulu was retiring, I knew immediately that this was a position I wanted to pursue. Lulu has done a remarkable job in her tenure at the Chamber and my hope is that I will be able to continue that wonderful legacy. I’ve loved watching our community grow and evolve from the little 18,000-person town it was when I moved here in 1989 to its current state and cannot wait to serve the business community in this new role at the Coppell Chamber.” said Gayle Westapher.

Coppell Chamber continues its Building Campaign for a new Chamber Office The Coppell Chamber of Commerce announces its Building Campaign for the purchase of a building located at 708 Main Street. As the Chamber celebrates its 25th year, we have decided that now is the time to plant our roots in Old Town/Main Street Coppell with the purchase of a business cottage that will serve as our Chamber office. Here’s how you can get involved. “The Chamber is gathering our community of supporters and commissioning a “Legacy Wall” for the new building to
honor those businesses and individuals that invest $1,000 or more in the Building Campaign. I hope you will join me as a “Legacy Partner.” Your support will help ensure the continued work of the Coppell Chamber of Commerce – a meaningful Legacy Gift of a lifetime for our community,” stated Kristi Valentine, President & CEO of the Coppell Chamber. The Chamber has already begun raising funds towards reaching the goal of $100,000. Completion of the building and the move into the new office is
expected to take place by February 2015, and will allow the Chamber to continue to serve the business community in and around Coppell with a presence in Old Town. The Chamber’s Building Campaign is being led by Ricardo Roberto, owner of RA Financial. Mr. Roberto can be reached at (972) 471-9755 or by email at raroberto@ msn.com. Please contact the Chamber at (972) 393-2829 or by email at karen@coppellchamber.org if you wish to donate.

Eastfield and El Centro College, Richard has a deep appreciation for the opportunities a DCCCD education can provide. Since taking his first Computer Science class at Eastfield in 2005, Richard has worked as a software engineer for some of the nation’s leading innovators, including cloud computing providers and cloud virtualization companies. He also utilized his technical skills as a senior software engineer on the 2012 Romney-Ryan Presidential Campaign. He is currently a software engineer at an Irving-based technology startup in the healthcare industry
where he is using his technical expertise and problem solving skills to help transform the supply chain contracting process. Richard’s commitment to service goes back to his youth where he and his family worked in missions with Iraqi refugees in Amman, Jordan. He also assisted the Kurds, volunteering at a church plant in Kurdistan, Iraq for over 3 months in 2008. After beginning his education at Eastfield College, Richard transferred to Dallas Baptist University. He has attended the Village Church since 2005. Richard's perspective as a for-
mer student of the Dallas County Community College District, his experience working with young professionals across the state, and his technical expertise make him a uniquely qualified candidate to serve as a DCCCD Trustee. The Governmental Affairs Committee has historically taken on the role of educator in the political arena by providing monthly round-table discussions on issues of importance to the business community. Governmental Affairs hosts the Annual State of the City Address, Candidate Forum as well as other events throughout the year.
