WHEN THE LIVIN’S EASY “Summertime is always the best of what might be.” – Charles Bowden
I
t’s hardly an exaggeration that summer in Jackson Hole is like nowhere else on earth. For three months, the valley is transformed after a long, harsh winter. The turquoise alpine lakes sparkle, winding rivers awaken, wildflowers dot the hills and endless fields of sagebrush give way to snow-capped peaks. But there’s more to the Tetons than fleeting outdoor bliss. Named one of the top 10 most vibrant small arts communities in the nation by the National Center for Arts Research, Jackson Hole is a lively confluence of Old and New West sensibilities. Step into Silver Dollar Bar on a Tuesday evening for live bluegrass and Western swing dancing. Saddle up at the bar next to its cowboy clad patrons and order from the Silver Dollar’s dizzying list of drinks. The next day, unwind at the base of the Tetons while world-renowned classical musicians play at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village as part of the Grand Teton Music Festival. Then enjoy some of the most talked about acts from rock and hip-hop to electronica and funk during several outdoor music concert series, like Jackson Hole Live at Snow King Ballpark, Concerts on the Commons in Teton Village, and Music on Main just over the hill in Victor City Park in Victor, Idaho. The same goes for the valley’s culinary offerings— one night you’re rubbing elbows with cowboys at a farm

to table dinner at the idyllic Lockhart Cattle Ranch. The following eve, sipping a young Bordeaux and nibbling on the most famous rack of lamb in the valley care of The Blue Lion. While there’s no shortage of traditional Western art in Jackson Hole, there is also a rising contingent of boundary-pushing contemporary artists. Shows at The Rose, Teton Artlab, Tayloe Piggott and Center for the Arts host modern luminaries while classical Western and nature-inspired art abounds at places like the National Museum of Wildlife Art. But as we embrace the future, we love to revel in our roots, and a day at the Jackson Hole Historical Museum, where timeworn photos and antique relics abound, is just the way to appreciate the valley’s rich Western heritage. So with all that’s happening in the Hole, it’s important to stay in the know. That’s why savvy locals visit theholecalendar.com. Whether you’re looking for something to do this weekend, tomorrow morning, or tonight, our exhaustive event calendar has you covered. Stash this handy foldout in your glove box, camera case or back pocket. It’s the perfect resource on Jackson Hole’s signature summer events, as well as info on rodeos, art shows, festivals, fairs, concerts, cookouts, shootouts, and shout outs. When a last-minute event pops up, we’ll have that updated on our interactive and easy-to-use website, too. If it’s happening in the Hole, we’ve got you covered. And when you return home, stay in touch with your new favorite place by reading Planet Jackson Hole online at planetjh.com. – Robyn Vincent

Learn how to reduce your exposure. Do NOT carry your cell phone in your bra or pants.
Save the Boys THE FACTS:
Cell Phones emit microwave radiation. This radiation is linked to cancer, sleep problems DNA damage and other serious effects. RESEARCH ALSO SHOWS: ⊲ Damaged Sperm ⊲ Reduced Sperm Count ⊲ Erectile Dysfunction DID YOU KNOW? Cell phones have fine print warnings buried deep in manuals stating phones should not be close to the body like in your shirt or pants pocket.
Save the Girls CELL PHONES & BREAST CANCER:
Women are developing breast cancer in the exact same place they kept cell phones in their bras, according to an increasing number of medical reports.
BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL
Breast cancer surgeons advise, “Do not carry the cell phone in your bra.”
GREENSKY BLUEGRASS
All wireless device manufacturers advise that devices should be a distance away from human bodies and brains because of the radiation.
THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS RECOMMENDS… ⊲ Prefer
texting to voice calls. speaker mode or hands free to limit radiation exposure to the brain. ⊲ Avoid carrying your phone against the body like in a pocket, sock, or bra. Cell phone manufacturers can’t guarantee that the amount of radiation you’re absorbing will be at a safe level. ⊲ Make only short or essential calls on cell phones. ⊲ If you plan to watch a movie on your device, download it first, then switch to airplane ⊲ Use

mode while you watch in order to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure. ⊲ Keep an eye on your signal strength (i.e. how many bars you have). The weaker your signal, the harder your phone has to work and the more radiation it gives off. ⊲ Avoid making calls in cars, elevators, trains, and buses. The cell phone works harder (and emits more radiation) to get a signal through metal. ⊲ Remember that cell phones are not toys or teething items.
