The lands include seven lots on the west side of Lakelse Lake currently held under recreation leases. Some of these leases are approximately 50 years old. The Lax Kw’alaams’ Aboriginal Rights and Title Committee have been discussing the transfer of these lands with the Province for more than a year and a half. The Rights and Title Committee is hosting meetings with the province to inform them about Lax Kw’alaams’, Gilutsa’aw Tribe’s, and members’ interests in the Lakelse area that will be affected by these transfers. The Committee is also inviting all members, particularly from the Gilutsa’aw Tribe, to attend and share their views about our interests in that area. Members are also invited to participate in pre-meetings with the Committee to prepare for the meetings with the Provincial representatives. We encourage all members to attend in support the Gilutsa’aw and to promote the application of traditional law on our territories. Meeting times and locations are as follows: MONDAY, JULY 7TH AT HIGHLINER PLAZA, PRINCE RUPERT Pre-meeting/members only Members and the Province
