Tsal’alh (Seton Lake Indian Band) Call for New Logo Concepts Do you want to be the creator for our new logo? We’re working to create a new and professional look for Tsal’alh. Part of this is developing a new logo that will be used on all future materials for Tsal’alh, Skil Mountain School, the Rose Casper Healing Centre, and Tsal’alh Development Corporation (TDC). Tsal’alh Chief and Council and have decided that they’d like to work with an artist from the community to develop a logo that really represents Tsal’alh. Possible directions for this logo include the natural elements surrounding Tsal’alh, such as mountains, water, or wind. Other potential logo ideas include wildlife that call the area home, including the mountain goat, black bear, deer, Blue Heron, or crane. This document provides some instructions and guidelines for the logo. If you have any questions, please contact andrea@nkyap.ca A logo must be: • Very simple so it can work at any size and is easy to recognize • Feature bold lines so it can be shrunk down, embroidered, and reproduced effectively • Be able to work in multiple colours or only one colour This logo must be: • Modern looking • Rooted in tradition • Drawn from our culture Logos are different from artwork because they must serve a very specific purpose. Logos are better thought of as simple illustrations. Designing for logos is much like designing for fabric work like appliqué. As part of the process you, the artist, would work with our team of designers to perfect the logo illustration and make sure it works in every case. On the next page, we’ll provide some logo examples and some direction for sketches.
