COPPERMINE IN THE COMMUNITY

ith Coppermine Fieldhouse adjacent to Lake Roland, there are plenty of opportunities to get a glimpse of nature! Earlier this year our very own pre-school gymnastics director, Daisy Sudano, put together a W

“Spring Migration” trip. Sudano, the Baltimore Bird Club (BBC) youth coordinator, has been trying to grow the program through wonderful trips right in our backyard. The BBC program offers a valuable learning experience paired with the ability to exercise as everyone hikes through nature!

The Baltimore Bird Club talked about the paths birds take while migrating and why the area that Coppermine Fieldhouse is in is a highly traveled route. Participants learned how to use binoculars and were able to do a special craft after their hike! The group saw over 17 species in only one hour! The highlight of the day came when they saw 2 Peregrine Falcons dive-bombing!

On August 21, Birds of Urban Baltimore (B.Ur.B) partnered with The Baltimore Bird Club for bird branding at the Fairwood Forest. Everyone was able to be up close with birds that were caught and banded.

GIVING BACK IS OUR PRIORITY

Coppermine is beyond fortunate to be surrounded by such giving and supporting people that share our passion for giving back. Each year we set the bar even higher by meeting new organizations and creating new relationships. Without support for and from each other, the Coppermine Community would not be the heartbeat of youth sports, enrichment support & active lifestyle adults. Now, more than ever, we would like to thank our partners and families for their continued faith and commitment to the Coppermine way. Each year we strive to give back to our incredible community, whom we love and cherish dearly.

COMMUNITY

KEEP PUNCHING

In May, Coppermine had the opportunity to help knock out brain cancer with Keep Punching, a non-profit dedicated to supporting patients, health-care providers, and researchers in their fight to prevent and eradicate brain cancer. The organization, which was founded by Coppermine Racquet & Fitness - Bare Hills member Beth Fisher and her husband Daron, who lost his fight against glioblastoma in 2013, held their annual 5K and 1 Miler at Goucher College.

Coppermine yoga instructor Kristen Brown led the warm-up stretches and many of our incredible Coppermine Community members ran and walked for a great cause. It was a terrific day honoring those who have and will never stop fighting brain cancer. For more information on Keep Punching visit www.keeppunching.org.

HEALTH CARE HEROES
