CORK LEARNING CITY

Host of 3rd UNESCO International Conference on Learning Cities 2017

Cork - UNESCO Learning City Our people make Cork a Learning City, recognised by UNESCO, who presented us with a Learning City Award in 2015. Cork was one of the first 12 cities to achieve this award worldwide, and is one of only 38 cities in all to be awarded to date. The success of our Lifelong Learning Festival was one of the key reasons Cork City achieved this global recognition. When UNESCO selected Cork to host the 3rd International Conference on Learning Cities in 2017 it was another significant statement of support for the city’s track record in recognising and promoting lifelong learning. and promoting lifelong learning. Our Vision: Celebrating and supporting learning - all ways and for all We see Cork as a place where active engagement in learning, lifelong and lifewide, by all people, is part of our identity and our culture. We see learning as a means to transform lives, locally and globally; and we are committed to leaving no-one behind.
