Workplace portraits by Grant Waters 27 Nov – 10 Dec
Battlelines Redrawn 12 Oct – 25 Nov This touching exhibition by Anna Dillion is a study of how some of the battlefields of the First World War have regenerated over the last century. The concept for the Battlelines Redrawn Project evolved out of Anna’s passion for landscape history and the paintings of the artist Paul Nash. His powerful, brooding and intense landscapes from the First World War revealed the wars outrage on the land.
Painter and portrait artist Grant Waters shares a collection of oil paintings that consider the relationship between people and their place of work. This is a celebration of the skill of the sitter where a single concentrated look can sum up a lifetime’s knowledge and experience. The lighting that illuminates their work also gives focus to the composition. Whether the spaces are cluttered, tidy, pretty or purely practical, the moods and atmospheres that they create are integral to the piece. These works are as much a portrait of the space as they are of the sitter. www.grantsartwork.co.uk
