MILQ SITE HISTORY

MILQ exudes comfort, style and character in the heart of Melbourne’s quintessential urban village.

1853

1884

Two residential allotments

The Town Hall was built and soon after the area was renamed North Melbourne

were sold and a township to the north of the CBD was established named Hotham

Where ice-cream carts once jostled for their pre-dawn fill of richly tempting milky treats. Nowadays strolling locals savour the perfect latte, fresh, cream-filled pastry and hand-crafted chocolates, as they take in the unmatched delights of arguably, the most liveable village, in the world’s most liveable city.

1869 The Hotham Football Club was founded, which later became the North Melbourne Football Club

1928

2015 MILQ

The Bulla business purchased the Arden Street site as their distribution centre for their products to the metropolitan area

Late

1800

Many companies began to establish their base in North Melbourne because of the close proximity to the city and its road networks

1971 Bulla introduced plastic cream bottles The plastic ‘half pint’ thickened cream bottles were revolutionary. This opened up additional domestic and export opportunities for the Bulla family

Apartments

is launched to the marketplace offering contemporary apartments with a connection to its rich history

2002 Bulla expands its operation and moves to larger premises in Colac. The corner site at Bulla Lane and 33-35 Arden Street remains as unused vacant land

North Melbourne epitomises the very essence of the perfect, inner-city village.

Flemington Road

Steeped in heritage, with its quaint terrace cottages and grand colonial architecture, yet embodying an undeniably modern vibe. Behind historic shop-fronts and gracious verandahs, cafes and restaurants run a bustling trade from breakfast to suppertime. Pubs and bars eagerly serve locals and welcome guests, as do the gift shops, jewellers and boutiques. An artisan baker knows your order off by heart, the florist is always happy for a chat and the aroma of freshly roasted coffee wafts through the fascinating laneways to inflame your caffeine passions. Bodies are worked and then pampered at the fitness studios and beauty salons. Everyday matters are barely a chore with nearby banks, a post office and gourmet supermarkets, sharing street-space with healthy living centres and medical services.

Evocative Minimalism The elegant common area, with its evocative minimalism sets the mood of graceful refinement, as it weaves past mailboxes, secure bike store and the eleven ground floor, courtyard apartments. New York-style carparking, extra storage and additional bike racks are secured underground, where tanks store valuable rainwater run-off.
