Fatality on Ninth and Sydney CPS said that they had notified the next of kin, but that no further details would be released at this time. CPS said that the investigation is ongoing as of 10:30 a.m. and that they expected the street to be closed for several hours. The CPS is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to please contact Detective Constable Darrell Blakely by calling 613-9335000 ext. 2754 or ext. 2404 to leave anonymous information.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall Police Service (CPS) confirmed that a fatal accident occurred on Ninth St. just east of Sydney St. at around 7:15 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19. The accident involved a motorcycle and a car. “The driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the car did not sustain injuries at the time of the collision,” reads a statement from CPS.

ST. REGIS (Kana:takon) – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) is currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, Aug. 11 in the district of Kana:takon (St. Regis). The investigation ensued in the early morning when police and paramedic’s responded to a residence where a male victim was found with an unknown injury. The victim was identified as Jeffrey Allen Lazore-Arquette, 58, of Akwesasne. Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance transported the victim to CCH, at which point he was airlifted to Ottawa. The victim later succumbed to his injuries at the Ottawa Hospital. On the evening of Friday, Aug. 16, AMPS announced that an arrest had been made in relation to the homicide investigation of the death of Jeffert Allen Lazore-Arquette.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Foot traffic filled Pitt St. on Saturday, Aug. 17 as locals took to the blocks to try food and see vendors at Cornwall Food Fest, presented by and in support of Beyond 21.
Dozens of vendors selling various cuisines and other goods had a successful afternoon according to Jane McLaren, Executive Director of Beyond 21. “The food lines, artisans and car shows had started to get longer around noon which is great to see,” said McLaren. See page 4 for rest of story.
