Delta Seniors Bus Program

WHAT IS THE DELTA SENIORS BUS PROGRAM? The Delta Seniors Bus program is a free transportation service for seniors 65+ living in Delta. The bus makes curbside stops to pick up and drop off seniors who have booked the service. It offers easy access to local medical services, recreation centres, shopping locations and other community amenities within Delta. Medical appointments receive priority booking. WHO CAN USE THE DELTA SENIORS BUS PROGRAM? The Delta Seniors Bus is an excellent service for seniors who live in isolation, or who rely on others for transportation. Seniors must be able to embark and disembark the bus independently. The bus has several seats and room for walkers, wheelchairs and scooters, and is equipped with an automatic lift. Registration is required prior to using the service. WHEN DOES THE SENIORS BUS OPERATE? Monday – Friday, 9am – 3:30pm

Delta partners with two seniors societies to provide quality recreation programming for people 50 years and older. Delta provides staff and facilities while programs and services are volunteer-driven by members.

The Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre is located in North Delta and McKee Seniors Recreation Centre is in Ladner.

Delta is closely connected to KinVillage, an independently operated facility in Tsawwassen.

Welcome to Kennedy! We offer an enormous variety of recreational activities and events in the arts, sports, fitness, music, crafts, cards, and travel. Many of our programs are ongoing throughout the year and operate on a drop-in basis. If you are looking for more opportunities to meet new people or enjoy time with friends, consider purchasing a ticket to one of our monthly dinner and dances or exploring the lower mainland through one of our bus trips!

Café Eighty Ate Mon – Fri 9am-1:30pm Enjoy delicious entrees, hot lunch specials, hearty soups made from scratch, and daily fresh baked treats. And for your convenience, all food items are available for takeout. Everyone is welcome too! There are no membership or age requirements on the enjoyment of our café food!

Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre is a very friendly and dynamic centre serving individuals in our community 50 years and older. Discover a diverse range of fitness, wellness, educational and social opportunities all tailored to support healthy and active aging. Enjoy free seminars and workshops. Take in a yoga or Tai Chi class to regain balance in your life. Our fitness classes accommodate to a wide range of abilities, from Zumba Gold to Joint Works. Want to nurture your creative streak? Come check out the art and ceramics room for registered lessons or for quiet self-directed work opportunities.

Volunteers Are Gold Did you know that Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre is run entirely by volunteers? In 2019, volunteers donated 14,553 hours of their time to the operation of the centre! Without volunteers many program opportunities, hot lunches, fabulous social events and those warm smiles as you walk in the door would be missed! Come by the Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre any day of the week and see what our volunteers do to make every visit special. Consider getting involved! Members are always encouraged to volunteer, even the smallest offering of time will make a big difference. Ask at the Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre Customer Service Desk for more information on volunteering.

VOLUNTEERS McKee Seniors Recreation Centre is built on the foundation of VOLUNTEERS! Did you know that McKee has dedicated teams of volunteers from the Board of Directors; Special Event volunteers; Customer Service and volunteers in our Café; Club Conveners and local shoppers! If you want to check out opportunities to volunteer, drop-in or call McKee and inquire at the customer service desk. We will help to find you a team to volunteer on that matches your skills and abilities. Volunteers keep the culture and atmosphere at McKee young and vibrant for our 50+ programs and activities offered. Come join us!

50+ McKee Seniors Recreation Centre Welcome to McKee! McKee Seniors Recreation Centre is a perfect place to have fun, relax and make new friends. We have a number of activities for you to enjoy ranging from yoga and fitness to line dance and computer classes. If your interest is more creative, then try one of our art classes or learn something new at one of our onsite workshops. Whatever your interests, we have something for you; you are bound to find something to suit you at McKee. There will also be a number of extra activities the week of June 1-5 to celebrate Seniors Week. McKee Seniors Recreation Centre offers a café that is open Mon-Fri. with daily specials. There are plenty of culinary creations from homemade scones, soups, meals and more.
