Sine Thesis Ice Lite
A conceptual audacity worthy of a Jules Verne novel.
Don’t bother looking for an equivalent to Sine-Thesis, there isn’t one. For the simple reason that only MET is able to construct a shell with such a high level of complexity. Just the assembly of the exoskeleton in the matrix before the shell moulding process begins requires 14 different operations carried out by skilled hands.

An exoskeleton of ICE Lite composite material unifies the three distinct elements which make up the helmet’s structure. This concept, which was inspired by animals with carapaces, when combined with In-mould construction, gives outstanding structural performance.
The specific shape of the deflectors (the visible part of the skeleton) is designed to direct maximum air flow towards the interior of the shell helping make Sine-Thesis the best ventilated helmet ever designed according to the German magazine Road Bike after a comparative performance test.

Stradivarius HES
Revolutionary architecture. Proven efficiency.
On 17th March 2013, Gerald Ciolek and his Stradivarius HES entered the history books of cycling by winning the Milan Sanremo. The ‘Classicissima’, the longest course of the season at 298 km, was made even more difficult because of the hellish weather conditions straight out of a Dante novel. An interminable day on the bike with rain followed by freezing temperatures and even snow, then the last climbs, Cipressa and Poggio, a small breakaway group, the favourites are there, it is important to keep a cool head, to analyse the race and to plan an attack at just the right moment. In other words, the type of test that our engineers would never be able to reproduce in a laboratory ;-)

The straps on the new Stradivarius HES are made from a revolutionary technique of weaving polyester fibres to aid sweat evaporation and provide greater tensile strength for a lower weight.
In the event of an impact the pressure on the helmet shell is uneven; we can see that most of the pressure is concentrated within a limited area. HES construction, which involves embedding two homothetic shells, spreads most of the pressure built up by the compression at the impact point and thus dissipates the force of impact over the whole shell.

Written, according to experts, between 1307 and 1321, The Divine Comedy is Dante’s most famous work. The poem is divided into three parts called: Inferno (Hell), Purgatorio (Purgatory) and Paradiso (Paradise). The poet narrates a voyage through three subterranean kingdoms which leads him to a vision of the Trinity. His imaginary, allegoric representation of the afterlife is a great illustration of the medieval vision of the world. 700 years later, Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso are states which all dedicated cyclists know all too well and encounter on the road throughout the season. The design of the Inferno is so undeniably elegant and dynamic that it just can’t fail to impress. Extremely compact, the use of Ultimalite technology in the construction of the helmet gives the shell a highly efficient volume/weight/ ventilation ratio.
Our Advanced Research office designed its own tool for virtual development called Nova3. It enables them to virtually test all the parameters of resistance and performance of a helmet design. When we are ready to launch production of the first prototype, our project has already been fine tuned and validated.

A design which reaches for the finishing line.
Whether it is the deep air intake vents in front, the maxi rear vents, the extended lateral lines; every single detail of Estro’s design shows just how much effort has gone into creating a helmet which is both well-ventilated and extremely aerodynamic. The shell of the Estro has depressions which are used to positively modify drag force by influencing the behaviour of the boundary layer (interface zone between the helmet and the air around it), a fundamentally important aspect of aerodynamics.

MET has its own measurement protocol called Air Scale to monitor how well the helmet’s air cooling system performs by measuring two fundamental parameters: The HCS - the helmet’s contact surface with the head (the less the contact area the better the ventilation) and the helmet’s general capacity to keep the head cool, (the higher the value of the cooling coefficient – the CF - the better the ventilation will be).

Si vis pacem para bellum.
Originally, the De re militari was a treatise addressed to the emperor on his request about how to rein in the decadence of the Roman Empire. For the author Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus, the solution was to go back to ancient military practices. Even today his work is included on the reading list of many modern military academies. In the prologue to book III, he highlights the need to engage the troops in advance of any hostilities and concludes: “... si vis pacem para bellum‌ “, which could be translated in all-mountain jargon as if you want to conquer the mountains with peace of mind, start by protecting yourself!

The shape of the Parabellum offers excellent head coverage for such a feather-weight. Its recognisable features are the large visor in front as well as the overlapping shells which are visible at the back of the helmet. Without a doubt the best all-mountain helmet.
The tilt of the visor can be adjusted by loosening anodised aluminium side screws. This allows you to fine tune your field of view. Note that at the highest position the visor leaves enough space for your goggles strap in ÂŤrestÂť position.

Right from the first glance, the Kaos UL exudes a feeling of quiet strength. Its simple design which consists of only a few distinctive crisscrossing lines contributes to the shell’s strength and shows off the wide openings of the air intake vents.
Ultimalite fibre (a composite material, onto which fine layers are added in certain strategic places on the shell before the stage where the polystyrene and the polycarbonate are fused) strengthens the structure to which it is applied to such an extent that it is possible to reduce the density of the material used and thus reduce the weight of the helmet without altering its shock absorbtion capacity.

Terra
Take it to your favourite playground.
When setting out to create the Terra helmet our designers kept in mind several factors which are closely linked to the needs of all-mountain riding. With active head cooling; branch deflector visor; a light-weight and a snug fit to the head, it’s designed for even the roughest terrain. Then the results of their work were put to the test. The Terra was put through its paces at the Lac Blanc bike park, in the Vosges, by Tim Bentley and Bernard Kerr. The result was highly satisfactory, just see for yourself.

Just a touch of ‘old school’ design, inspired by the legendary MET Anaxagore and its spiked air vents. An explosive mix which has made Terra our best-selling MTB helmet.
When the visor includes integrated air vents it can actively help to cool the head. It does this by directing the air towards the inside of the helmet. For an optimal field of vison you can adjust the slope to one of the two positions depending on your riding postion on the bike.

Being visible is an essential part of keeping cyclists safe. In order to be more visible at night or in tunnels, the Lux version of 20 miles, as well as its yellow colour, is full of features designed specifically with that aim in mind: Leaving aside the reflective tape at the back found on all MET helmets, it also features reflective tape on the sides of the helmet and a LED light, integrated into the central size adjustment wheel. All of the colours and graphic logos found in our child and junior ranges have had to go through a fierce selection process. It’s the kids who choose, and their parents don’t have any say in it whatsoever!
By analysing their own children’s behaviour, our engineers and designers use their everyday experience as cyclists and parents as inspiration to constantly improve the little details that make such a big difference. The buckle which closes the strap system has been designed to avoid pinching the skin when it is being closed, even when it is being handled in the clumsiest way.

The standard setter in safety for the youngest riders.
Looking at our Elfo and Genio models is rather like looking at an iceberg. I’m sure you’ll notice that the back of the helmet is almost flat to allow the child to sit up straight in the bike seat of their parent’s bike. But it is only when you turn the helmet over, which is not quite as easy to do with an iceberg, that you’ll be able to realise exactly how much work our designers have put into the ventilation system and safety features.

The internal air channels guarantee really efficient head cooling. Even more importantly, ‘Bimbi-Secure’ internal geometry is designed to avoid any pressure points of the helmet touching the fontanel, the most sensitive part of the child’s skull, even on impact.

Unlike In-mould construction technique used for the rest of our range, Twin-shell construction means that the outer shell – the coloured one - is joined to the shell made of polystyrene foam after the latter has already been moulded. This construction technique is more cost-effective, however, it may result in a higher shell volume in order to achieve the same shock absorption capacity. For the Buddy and Super Buddy range, this increase in volume is practically unnoticeable.
