SEC-market design MIXED USE PLANNING
THE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE COMPLEX. Using food as a gateway, our mission is to create a market that is designed with special concern for social equity, environmental sustainability, and financial economy. Plum Market was designed to stock only whole and fresh foods in their natural state. This was motivated by Michael Pollan’s definition of food, which includes produce and traditional foods that your great grandmother would recognize. Reducing packaging, transparency of orgin, and seasonal produce are the ways Plum promotes healthy lives. * Heidi Craig, Craig Pfaff, and Lisa Wasson were my team members for this project. Design and space planning was a collaborative effort. Craig Pfaff is credited with the exterior renderings. All other renderings were created be me in Revit 2010.

second floor, 16,000 square feet The second floor contains a theater, offices, lounge, and restaurant that all revolve around food and support of the market. The restaurant, Salt and Pepper, will serve entrees, appetizers, and desserts that are created with the food sold in the market. These healthy and creative options can also inspire ideas for cooking at home. * Perspective of rendering marked on floorplan.

third floor, 16,000 square feet The social experience complex has a unique interconnection between its various uses. Purchasing a condo on the third floor is more than a real estate venture, it is also an investment in the complex. Third floor
residents own a share of the market, restaurant, theater, roof garden and sense of community they are working to build. Residences ascribe to the belief that mixed use communities are vital to responsible development.
