Grand Slam!
Written by: Richard Baldwin The weather has approached, for many Arizonians that means Spring is here and warmer days are upon us.. I’m not an avid baseball fan but not shy to frequenting spring training games. I’ve found, there are two things a fan needs when they enjoy these games; small talk skills and the Ambient Scorecast - Desk Scoreboard. Regardless, of interest level in the game, Scorecast will give you the ability to talk with confan who enjoys up-to-date stats and scores. Spring also means the greens are looking greener and I’m no expert on the game. Don’t have any incredible swinging tips. However, I do enjoy a good nine holes or if time allows the whole eighteen. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that the course can be unforgiving and as such hunting your ball may become more of a game. If your relating, you’ll be highly interested in The Radar Golf System. This little gadget will be a god-send and give you the time to appreciate more game on the course and less searching in the woods.

....................................................... Bose has once again raised the bar in delivering crystal-clear sound performance with their QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones. Voted 2012’s Travelers’ Choice, Bose boasts they are ‘our best headphones, period.’ With a threehundred dollar price tag, what makes these headphones stand apart from the rest? Bose in noise reduction. Within each pair of headphones lie microphones both inside and outside each ear cup. Advanced electronics works separately with each microphone to identify which sound you want to hear and which is unwanted. Instantly it produces an opposite canceling signal reducing the unwanted sound from the music you want to hear. This noise-canceling system is exclusive to Bose. Bose has customized these headphones to be iPhone and iPod user friendly with a three button control system down the side of the cord. The feel and sound are amazing. However, as a consumer it does not thrill me that these headsets require a AAA battery in each ear cup, with only 35 hours of average usage time. Regardless, once you’ve had the privilege of using the Bose QuietComfort 15 you will rediscover music once more!

E G L U D NI Like many business owners looking for some PR, GoViva.com President Robert Tuchman reached out to me, suggesting I feature his latest endeavor. Sometimes I overlook these types of media-hungry e-mails, but there was just something about Robert and his company that made me want to research his biz. Glad I did too, because his online baby is right up my alley.
more fabulous than they already are. He offers an array of options in the areas of sporting events, entertainment, activities,
Consider Robert’s GoViva.com a virtual source for unique, exclusive, and totally cool lifestyle and travel packages. Think of it this way: Instead of scalping a thousand-dollar ticket to the Super Bowl, if you book through GoViva.com, you’d attend the game, sit with Joe Montana, ceremony, and end your night at the private Maxim party. Catch my drift? Robert takes everyday bucket-list-type experiences and packages them to be

like Charles Barkley, Terry Bradshaw, Clarence Clemons, Greg Kinear, Rick Bayless, and Eric Ripert. As a result, he developed celebrity relationships, now coming in quite handy.
But before I highlight some of the amazing packages available for a pretty penny, let’s talk about Robert, proving he has a legit background and an impressive Rolodex.
In 2011, Robert ditched the corporate world to pour TLC into GoViva.com, and in 2012, he launched the savvy site. His love for sports inspired the start of his business; in fact, Robert is the author of
In 1997, the entrepreneur founded TSE Sports & Entertainment, a marketing company that was ultimately named to the Inc. 500,
“100 Sporting Events You Must See Live,” a book he uses to create GoViva.com packages. (And by the way, his personal top-ten list includes: The Kentucky Derby, The Masters, any given World Cup, an Olympics, Wimbledon, the Stanley Cup Finals, the Super Bowl, a Yankees versus Red Sox game, a Final Four competition, and a Duke versus North Carolina basketball tournament. He’s been to all of them except Duke vs. NC.)
Promotion 100, and Special Event 50 lists on multiple occasions. It was eventually in both the United States and Europe. During Robert’s tenure with his former marketing company, he worked with a handful of big-name personalities
“My absolute favorite was attending game seven of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals at Madison Square Garden,” says Robert. “Going to the 2008 Super Bowl in Arizona with my father inlaw, a diehard Giants fan, was another awesome experience.” Obviously the guy knows how to have fun and live life to the fullest. And so New York City-based Robert decided to spread his adventurous spirit by starting GoViva.com. After witnessing the 9-11 tragedy, he was adamant about taking advantage of the precious present, and encouraging others to do the same. GoViva.com offers packages at about $1,000, but these babies can also exceed $10,000--per person. Here are some desirable examples. If you’re a big soccer fan, you’ll love this, especially if you also love partying in Brazil. For $8,745, you can book a GoViva.com World Cup accommodations, tickets for selected matches, a soccer superstar meet-andgreet, a half-day guided tour, a personal Brazilian support staff, daily breakfast, and all airport transfers. Start saving now for the summer 2014 excursion. But if you prefer food over sports, you might want to book a more affordable
package: “Cooking up Trouble with ‘Top Chef’ Tre Wilcox,” coming in at $1,100 per person. This Texas-based package includes two nights at the Magnolia Hotel Dallas, a VIP four-course dinner at The Marquee Grill, an intimate live cooking demonstration by the celebrity chef, and all airport and event transfers, taxes, and gratuity. Is your mouth watering? Or how about this one, dedicated to all my fellow fashionistas: a New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week getaway. For $4,480 per person, you’ll score three nights’ deluxe hotel accommodations at the Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC, tickets to two Fashion Week shows, tickets to a Broadway show of your choice, and daily breakfast. I only wish the runway clothes were included... And here’s another for all you golfloving guys: a dream journey to Scotland’s greatest links. For $7,170, you’ll get seven nights’ exquisite hotel accommodations and six rounds of championship golf on the area’s most famous courses (the PGA Centenary Course, the Castle Stuart, the Royal Dornoch, the Castle Course, the Old Course, and the Kingsbarns). The Web site also showcases dream vacations to the 2013 Country Music Awards, a Hawaii-based trip learning
how to surf with the pros, going on a culinary tour in Thailand, and diving in the Komodo Islands off your luxury Samata yacht--for $20,627. Tempted? You can reserve your fantasy directly on the site, or call a GoViva.com event specialist--they book your entire trip and handle all questions and concerns throughout the package-planning process. And a lot of people seem to be jumping on the GoViva.com bandwagon; despite the state of the economy, Robert says business is booming, especially because he’s already received props from The New York Times, Forbes Magazine, ESPN, CNN, and FOX-TV. “So many celebrities are reaching out to us because they want to create and offer unique experiences. We also have celebrity clients; we work with a ton of athletes and actors. GoViva.com takes the stress out of planning a dream vacation-all you have to do is show up,” says Robert Sounds easy, painless, and frivolously wonderful. Consider GoViva.com your bucket-list concierge. To indulge visit: www.GoViva.com.

so the expectation to follow in his footsteps was a no-brainer. Daddy’s undoubtedly proud of his little girl; Alexandra holds a B.A. from Harvard College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Oh, and she also has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. The studious college student decided to learn a number of foreign languages throughout her years at Harvard; she’s

Portuguese class became a blessing in disguise. That’s where Alexandra met her BFF Alexis, her Gilt Groupe cofounder. The young ladies instantly clicked, becoming immediately inseparable. And so they decided, like any dreamy gal pals, to launch a company. This dynamic duo, though, was different; they had a joint seriousness, ambition, and dedication to achieving success. Yet nothing fabulous happens overnight.
Launch a billion-dollar business; how’s that for a new year’s resolution? Well, it’s possible, and 36-year-old Alexandra Wilkis Wilson is living proof that even a frugal fashionista can strike gold. The New York City-based entrepreneur is the cofounder of Gilt Groupe. The company employees. Consider Gilt a designer-lover’s dream. If you love high-end stuff but don’t like the price tag, Gilt.com, if it hasn’t already, will become your stylish BFF. The site sells biglabel items on major discount. No joke, you
but that became a downright bore. She decided to make the switch to luxury, retail. Luckily for her, a small, unknown brand (note the written sarcasm) wanted was hired at Louis Vuitton.
off. While digging deeper into the site’s details is intriguing, I found Alexandra even more so interesting. As a thriving female entrepreneur myself, I was in awe getting to know Alexandra and learning of her success story.
Clearly Alexandra has some of my shopaholic genes: most of her LV salary went back to the store, thanks to the thoughtful employee discount. “I have always loved sample sales,” Alexandra told me, “and because I worked at Louis Vuitton, I got special access to some of the world’s best luxury brands at great prices.”
Alexandra just so happened to be visiting Scottsdale for an event at Fashion Square, and I just so happened to be asked to host her appearance. I obviously jumped at the opportunity, and immediately hit it off with Mrs. Wilkis Wilson, a blushing, beautiful, humble woman boasting a pregnant belly with baby No. 2.
I consider myself a stingy stylista, and apparently Alexandra has a similar “cheap” attitude. Alexandra and Alexis spent their spare time shopping sample sales, looking for amazing designer items on discount. Whenever they found a fantastic piece for a slashed price, a wonderful sense of
Alexandra grew up in NYC, naturally immersed in a diverse culture. She describes her upbringing as explorative and exciting; as a child, Alexandra ate sushi with chopsticks and found haven roaming the Met. However, her passion wasn’t food or art, rather, fashion. But before diving into the fabulous world of retail, Alexandra went to college--at Harvard. Her father was a Harvard grad,
this feeling--it’s a good one. Because their shopping skills were so keen, the girls dreamt up a great idea: what if anyone could shop sample sales online? And so began the inception of Gilt. Alexandra left her job overseeing retail operations at BVLGARI to pour her all into
their Web site, Gilt.com. They knew their site was a winning idea from day one; the “We had to convince top brands to sell their precious merchandise through our Web site,” she said. “It was a challenge, but very doable.” The invite-only site offers online sales that typically last 36 hours. Big name brands like Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Christian Louboutin, and Alexander McQueen have all offered stuff through Alexandra’s virtual creation. our business. We doubled our membership in minutes of the show.” Priceless PR. Alexandra also encounters a number of celebs because she’s constantly on the scene all around NYC. (She’s a regular at Fashion Week.) In fact, she’s even had a run-in with Madonna. made appearances on basically every TV network; she’s been featured in a number of publications; and she’s always initiating new business. Gilt, now valued at one billion dollars, is going global, and Alexandra has high hopes for big things in the coming years. With that being said, the wife and mother is extremely grounded. She is passionate about helping thriving female entrepreneurs start businesses of their own; that’s why she cowrote a book with Alexis: By Invitation Only: How We Built Gilt and Changed the Way Millions Shop. The book tells the story decisions, and the struggles they faced making something out of a mere idea. “We both really hope to see more women think about starting big, disruptive businesses.” I love that word. Disruptive. Gilt.com has made a beautifully disruptive impact on the way budget-driven shoppers purchase products. And now Gilt offers more than decor, and even desirable travel packages all on discount. Consider Gilt.com your new guilty pleasure, all thanks to a fabulous female entrepreneur.

Ok, so let’s say you meet the person of your dreams and you’re mutually headover-heels about one another. Does that passionate excitement ultimately wear off? Dr. Jenn says it does, but it’s actually a good thing. “We can’t stay in that state forever; we’d lose focus of everything around us. When we’re so enraptured with love, it takes away from reality and caring for ourselves.” That’s why many scientists argue the one-year mark: our bodies get used to the love stimulus. which you eventually overcome. That’s when your brain shifts to a place more about attachment and commitment.” Now that we have the opportunity to we apply what we’ve learned to our love life? First, Dr. Jenn suggests cutting yourself a little slack; understand we don’t necessarily make the best choices when falling in love. Sometimes we fall in love with the wrong people. We’ve all been there. It just happens. Next, establish the difference between love and lust. Every feeling of passion doesn’t need to equal a happily-everafter. But, if you do make it down the aisle, she says there are strategies to keep love inspired. “Keep acknowledging your partner for the good things. It’s sociologically proven the shift to gratitude will open your mind; you’re more creative, you’re more loving, and life feels like it’s in the Most importantly, Dr. Jenn encourages you to welcome love’s evolution, knowing it might become more about emotion and comfort, rather than
excitement and passion. “Feel good about what it was, but don’t compare that feeling to the past; that’s when things get sketchy and unfair. To keep things interesting, explore new things with your partner. Go on adventures, travel, and reintroduce newness to your relationship.” Better yet, keep that spark alive by doing dopamine-rich activities together. Kick it up a notch in the bedroom (or kitchen), and creatively express your appreciation for your partner. And when all else fails, retell and relive your very own love story. reminiscing about the day I my husband. (Once again…hope he’s not reading this...)
