HIGH SCHOOL GRADE LEVEL HIGH SCHOOL NAME
To enter you must be between 14 18 and live in San Joaquin County. Only one submission per person. The winner will be selected by a panel. Artwork will be judged based on creativity, design, and how well the message of "Design Your Favorite Book Genre" is communicated. Genre is defined as your favorite type or style of book to read, for example science fiction, mystery, horror, and fantasy. Digital entries should be submitted with a resolution of 300 dpi or higher for printing purposes. The digital version of the final card design will be 3.75" x 2.125" and the keychain card will be 1.125" x 2.625". Winners will be notified by phone. Winning designs will be posted on ssjcpl.org and on SSJCPL Social Media sites. The library will have the right to refuse any image that uses copywritten materials, derogatory language and/or images, and images that convey a religious or political message. All artwork must be original and previously unpublished. Concept and design must be the artist's sole creation. The artist must not assign the design to another party, sell, or reproduce the design.

The Start Smart Program through the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) was developed for the Preschool and Kindergarten youth. The interactive 6-week program where children and parents will actively participate together in fun learning sessions that introduce the fundamentals and skill development for current sports.

The Community Services Department offers safe, fun, and friendly youth sports programs at schools, playgrounds, and community centers. We provide recreational programs and activities for youth at the Pre-K level (ages 3-5) through 8th grade. Participants learn to participate in group sports in a positive environment. These fun leagues will help participants learn the fundamentals of flag football, tennis, basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. All dates and times will be determined by enrollment and grade. The City of Stockton offers 25% discounts on registration fees for our youth sports programs. Please request when submitting your registration form at one of our community centers.

Back by popular demand is the Winter Sports Camp Series. Participants in 1st-8th grades may sign up for a sports specific camp to learn and improve fundamental skills. One session a day (Monday-Thursday) sports camp begin November 28 and will feature a different sport that includes Tennis, Volleyball, and Basketball. Camps will be conducted by knowledgeable and skilled instructors and will be held at Stribley and Rue Community Centers. Registration fee is $41.75 per week and a camp t-shirt is included. Try one or all three sports camps this winter.

YOUTH COACHES VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FOR ALL SPORTS Become a volunteer coach and help mentor the next generation. The City of Stockton needs men and women who are interested in coaching kids to not only play a variety of sports, but to also develop their character through teamwork, cooperation, communication, and modeling good values. • Training/coaching clinics and resources are provided, no experience necessary! • Team Up! Coach alongside another parent or friend. • Coaches receive a 25% discount towards their child’s registration! • Background check required. Coaches’ Commitment: Time commitment is one hour of afternoon/evening practice per week, one hour game on Saturdays, and a Coaches meeting to receive training and resources. If you are looking to stay active, join one of our outstanding Adult Sports leagues. We offer Basketball, Kickball, Softball, and Volleyball league for those 18+ throughout the year. The City of Stockton Recreation Division offers several camps during school breaks for Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Our trained recreation leaders create a safe, fun environment with personal attention in small groups. Campers meet new friends, play sports and games, create crafts, and enjoy social time. Registration for our Fall and Winter Camps start September 1, 2022. The City of Stockton offers 25% discounts on registration fees for our youth day camps. Our Fitness Membership provides access to any of our community center fitness rooms and gymnasiums for specific activities. Fitness Rooms can be used during normal hours of operation, and gymnasium activities vary by location. Our fitness rooms are equipped with various cardio and weight equipment.
