& Lifestyle Show. Tickets are $1 each; 10 tickets for $5; or 25 tickets for $10. The drawing will be held at the end of the show and the winner need not be present to win. Finally, golf enthusiasts can visit the Habitat for Humanity booth to test their putting skills. For a $1 donation, each putter can make three attempts. Each hole-in-one allows the participant to enter the 50/50 drawing at the end of the Home Show. The winner will take home half of the proceeds from the game’s two-day run while the other half will be donated to Habitat’s next home.

It is nearly spring and time once again for the Home & Lifestyle Show sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Coshocton County. Displays of landscaping, home decoration, home maintenance, and more will be found among the approximately forty exhibitors from Coshocton and the surrounding areas. Admission and parking remain free for the two day event. The doors will open on Saturday at 9 a.m. and those who come early will be treated to an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Committee of Coshocton County. You can enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, bacon or sausage and a beverage for whatever amount you might want to donate to the Alzheimer’s Committee. For those needing a gluten free diet, there will be a gluten free menu available also. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Goodwill of Coshocton and Coshocton Habitat are teaming up to provide an Electronic Recycling event. Bring your old computers, monitors, televisions, printers, and cell phones to the east parking lot to donate them. They will be stripped of their reusable parts and recycled accordingly. There is no charge for this service. The seminars should be very popular this year. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Tammi Rogers, Mater Gardener Coordinator, will talk about “Lawn Care.” Local florist Ed Kiefer will make a presentation at 11 a.m. on “Conquering the Fear of Flower Arranging.” The final seminar on Saturday will begin at 1 p.m. and feature Kim Jamison of Knob Hill Designs and her topic will be decorating one’s home. Sunday’s seminars will focus on nutrition. At 1 p.m., Dr. Chad Guess, an expert in healthy nutrition will address the topic “What Are You Eating?” The other seminar on Sunday will begin at 2:15 p.m. A representative from Local Bounty will discuss the Co-Op and its role. In addition to the exhibitors, recycling, and seminars, other ongoing activities of interest will be conducted over the two days. A Silent Auction for a Real Good Toys Montpelier Dollhouse should draw the interest. The dollhouse was donated by Plainfield United Methodist Church and the proceeds from the Silent Auction will be used in the UMC Apostle Build. Be sure to clip out the door prize registration coupon included in the program and bring it with you to the show. In addition, everyone who comes into the Home & Lifestyle Show will have the opportunity to enter for the door prize drawings that will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. You need not be present to win a door prize. Also, Habitat for Humanity of Coshocton County is again conducting its popular trio of prizes raffle. First prize is a $300 meat and grill package. The winner receives $300 worth of meat from West Lafayette Market and a grill to cook it. The second winner receives two Adirondack chairs constructed and donated by the adult students in the Carpentry Program at the Mid-East Career and Technology Center. The third winner receives a $100 gift certificate to Auer Hardware. Chances for the raffle can be purchased from any Habitat for Humanity Board Member or at the Home

Habitat for Humanity update

Habitat for Humanity was established in Coshocton in 1999. Operating exclusively through volunteers until 2011, a Capacity Build Grant enabled the hiring of an executive director last year. Habitat has been a vital partner in the Coshocton community, seeing the completion of nine homes, with work on the 10 continuing. In late March the groundbreaking for house 11 will be held. House 11 will be an “Apostle build.” It will be completed with the support and cooperation of local United Methodist churches. Additionally, Saturday, May 12, will be “Women Build Day” on House 11, when 75 percent of the workforce will be women. A gem in Coshocton has been the local Habitat’s ReStore at 1301 Walnut St. The Restore has been in operation for two years and the community has responded with great enthusiasm. The Restore takes

ReStore is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and has its own Facebook page. Habitat for Humanity of Coshocton’s two signature fundraising events are the early spring Home and Lifestyle Show and the Golf Scramble which is scheduled for Saturday, July 28 this year at River Greens Golf Course. Everyone is invited to the Home and Lifestyle Show at the Coshocton County Career Center. Hours for the show are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

All You Can Eat Breakfast CONTRIBUTED TO THE BEACON

Everyone coming to the Home and Lifestyle Show on Saturday morning should plan to start the day off with a warm, hearty meal at the All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast. The Coshocton County Alzheimer’s Committee will be hosting the breakfast in the restaurant at the Coshocton County Career Center. Donations are being accepted for the breakfast of pancakes, sausage or bacon, fruit, juice, and coffee. The Alzheimer’s Committee has also teamed up with the Celiac Disease Support Group and are including breakfast items that are gluten free. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. Dementia is a general term meaning a global loss in intellectual functioning and normal alertness caused by disease or injure to the brain. Our fundraising effort will be dedicated to the battle to find a cure. Come to the 2012 Home and Lifestyle Show Saturday, March 10, to begin your day with a delicious breakfast between 9 a.m. and noon.

In addition to the All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast, everyone attending the Home and Lifestyle Show should stop by the concession trailer at the entrance to enjoy culinary treats of Not Just Desserts. Kathy Stubbs of Warsaw has developed a traveling smorgasbord of good food and great desserts that she shares from her traveling concession stand. Her specialties include pies and a New York style cheesecake. But, she also serves sandwiches including her ¾ pound Stubby Burger. Stop by for lunch or get a take out for later. Not Just Desserts will be stationed at the entrance of the 2012 Home and Lifestyle Show between noon and 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Habitat for Humanity of Coshocton County is teaming with Good Will Industries and Dell Computers to accept your e-waste for recycling on Saturday, March 10, at the Coshocton Home & Lifestyle Show. Hours for the recycling program are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. E-waste is becoming a serious concern in the United States. The EPA estimates that 70 percent of all heavy metals in landfills come from e-waste. The non-hazardous materials in e-waste include tin, copper, aluminum, steel, silicon, zinc, lithium and gold. All of these can be recycled to benefit the environment. Bring your computers, CRT monitors, old televisions, printers and mobile phones to the Coshocton County Career Center at 23640 Airport Road on Saturday, the 10th of March, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Workers will be available to assist with unloading your items. A Meat and Grill Package, two Adirondack chairs and a gift certificate to Auer Ace Hardware are being raffled off by Habitat for Humanity. The drawing will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at the Home and Lifestyle Show. The first prize, a Meat and Grill Package, includes $300 worth of meat from the Village Market in West Lafayette and an outdoor grill. The meat can be picked up at the Village Market in smaller bundles if the winner wishes. The Adirondack chairs, constructed by the adult students of the Mid-East Career and Technology Center’s Building Construction and Remodeling program, are made of wood and were donated to Habitat for Humanity. Ed Kiefer, Kiefer’s Florist “Conquering the Fear of Flower Arranging” 11 a.m., Saturday, March, 10 ............... For over 95 years, Kiefer’s Florist Shop was located on South 15th Street across from the hospital. Opened in 1913, by Ed Kiefer’s grandfather, the business had finally outlived its location. Other businesses near the shop had closed or moved to other locations. The boiler was failing and in need of serious repairs. The time was right to make a change. And, make a change is exactly what Ed did. He found just the right place across the river in Roscoe Village on Hill Street behind Uncorked. The new shop incorporated small touches from the past. The door from the cooler in the old shop made the move and looks right at home as entry to the new cooler. There is also an old farm sink that has its special wall to help showcase flowers. Ed has done a wonderful job with the design of the new shop in the same way he and his employees show such artistic design with flowers. The business recently celebrated an excellent first year in the village. At 11 a.m. Saturday, March, 10, come to the Home and Lifestyle Show, to watch Ed conquer the fear of flower arranging.

She will be giving tips on how to get and keep a healthy lawn. Tips may include the correct height to mow a lawn or the type of fertilizer to use and when it should be applied. She spent 13 years at Darr Interiors, was self employed for a period of time and spent eight years with a decorating studio in Zanesville. The last two years Jamison has been employed by Knob Hill Designs. Knob Hill Designs is a complete design studio that takes care of your every need, from a custom piece of furniture down to the small pillow in a corner chair.
