Think spring with the help of the Habitat Home & Lifestyle Show
BY JOSIE SELLERS
COSHOCTON – If you are looking for inspiration or helpful tips for spring home and garden projects, then you won’t want to miss the Habitat for Humanity Home & Lifestyle Show. “We have about 38 exhibitors this year, which is three or four more than what we’ve had in the past,” said Linda Miller, chairperson of the show. “Some of them are new and we’ve even attracted some out of town businesses.” This year’s show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 9 and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Coshocton County Career Center. Admission is free.
“We’ve had about 1,000 people attend in the past and this year, we have a full house of vendors so we are hoping for even more,” Miller said. The exhibitors cover everything from home maintenance to gardening to insurance to even pet care. The seminars planned also address a wide range of topics. Deb Gaumer will speak on the dos and don’ts of gardening in order to get ready to display at the fair at 10 a.m. Saturday. At 11 a.m. Saturday, Paul McHam will discuss the identification and eradication of mold and Tim Kettler will share information on sewer, drain and septic maintenance at 1 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Dr. Abdel Albalakosuy, DVM, will speak on the prevention of flea and tick born diseases at 1 p.m. and Chad Guess, D.C. will share his topic, Lifestyle Well-Being at 2:15 p.m. “People really enjoy the seminars we have,” Miller said. She also is excited that more food options will be offered at this year’s show. A pancake breakfast will once again be offered from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday and at noon the restaurant will switch from its breakfast menu to lunch. Sunday also will feature lunch items prepared by the Coshocton Blue Star Mothers. Attendees of the show will be entertained be members of the River View Junior High Choir from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday and have the opportunity to support Relay for Life, which is holding a kick-off event featuring homemade items for sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the nearby Hopewell School. The show also will feature some great raffle and door prizes. Raffle prizes include $300 worth of meat from West Lafayette Village Market and a gas grill from Sears, two arborvitae donated by Kobel’s Landscaping and a fire pit courtesy of Auer Hardware, and door prizes will come from donations made by each of the exhibitors.

It’s nearly springtime and time to get rid of all the unwanted stacks of paper that have accumulated in your home or business. Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce that the Shred-it truck is returning to the Home and Lifestyle Show. Sponsored by Lity’s Scrap Yard and Olde Town Realty, the Shredit truck will be doing bulk paper shredding on Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the east parking lot of the Coshocton County Career Center. Items accepted for shredding include computer print outs, junk mail, personal documents, business documents and records, financial records or tax documents, medical records, and any white or colored paper. It will not be necessary to remove staples or paper clips before bringing them. Put your documents in a box for easier handling, too. The Coshocton Restore is also sponsoring electronic recycling at the same time. Old cell phones, computers, printers, ink cartridges, and recyclable batteries can be disposed of and recycled.
