Publisher’s Note
The holidays are around the corner and with the season comes the best beauty holiday gift sets, the most amazing advent calendars, delicious home scents and newly created moments with friends and family.
2024 was an incredible year filled with such great moments. Having just come off hosting the Beauty’s Best awards a few weeks ago, we created new moments with our community spirit, tech and best manager awards. The evening was filled with finalists, winners activations from Haute Booth and Elit Vodka and so much more. Congratulations once again to all of this year’s finalists and winners.
In September, Cosmetics Alliance presented its first ever Beauty Summit (le Sommet de la Beaute) in Montreal. The event brought together some of the most incredible key note speakers, panel groups and presenters from across the industry. The event started with the ICONIC Mme Lise Watier and her gorgeous dog Beauty, with a fun, informative and inspiring panel talk hosted by Theo Cape of Groupe Marcelle. Speakers included An Verholst-Santos of L’Oreal and Larissa Jensen of Circana just to name a few. And the event was topped off with incredible brand displays from the likes of Coty, PUIG, Shiseido, Groupe Marcelle and more for over 100 beauty advisors from Jean Coutu, our retail sponsor, to interact with. It was an incredible day and we owe it all to the support and partnership of our sponsors – thank you!
So as we bring 2024 to a close, I would like to take a moment to thank each and everyone of our sponsors and advertisers who continue to support everything we do. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. We also want to thank and welcome our new sponsors of which we saw quite a few this year between our events. Thank you to IDC Dermo, Karine Joncas, Helen of Troy, Xcite Tech, EcoMundo, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Zorah Biocosmetiques, OMY Labs, Givenchy, Give Back Beauty, and more.
As always, I had a lot of fun collaborating with the entire team – our beauty editors Lora Grady and Vania Aguiar and the wonderful support of Amy, Michele, Luca, Kas, and Sue. Thank you all for your support, efforts, and energy.
Enjoy the holiday season and see you in 2025!

What an incredible accomplishment to be celebrating 120 years. What are some of the most memorable highlights over the past 120 years and why?
We are thrilled to celebrate 120 years of Coty’s rich history, filled with groundbreaking innovations and memorable milestones. Founded in 1904 with the creation of La Rose Jacqueminot, Coty revolutionized the perfume industry by blending natural and synthetic ingredients, creating the world’s first modern perfumes—a bold move that set the stage for a legacy of success, explains Jean Holtzmann, Coty Chief Brands Officer, Prestige. Since our humble beginnings in Paris more than a century ago, we have grown into a global beauty powerhouse, combining the expertise and excellence we have honed over the course of our journey with a fresh, future-facing mentality. This pioneering mindset, coupled with our heritage and track record of success, enables us to continuously embrace innovation and stay ahead of ever-evolving consumer needs. Today, we have a balanced portfolio of iconic brands across all price points, from prestige to mass market. This diversification allows us to capture demand in various segments. ‘Our success in Canada is driven by our collaborative partnerships with our retailers, their dedicated beauty advisors, and forward-thinking organizations like Cosmetics Alliance. We can’t wait to see what the next 120 years will bring for Coty and the beauty industry and look forward to continuing to lead the way,’ shares Rhonda Sydor, General Manager, Coty Canada. Coty was built on the beauty of a vision 120 years ago. It is this visionary spirit that we celebrate today and take with us as we move forward in building the next chapter for Coty. A proud moment in recent history was our return to our European roots with a dual listing in Paris, symbolizing our enduring heritage and marking the next phase of our journey.
What has contributed to the success of the company over the 120 years.
What has made Coty unique throughout the course of its history – and what continues to define our success today – has been our unparalleled ability to embrace the
potential and power of the new: new science, new technology, new ways of thinking, new visions of beauty – and the willingness to push the boundaries of what beauty can be. We always continued to reaffirm our status as an innovator, a pioneer, and true beauty visionary, constantly exploring new categories, new applications, and new ways to empower all expressions of beauty. However, at the heart of this success are the people who make it all possible. According to Sydor, ‘Team Canada talents are passionate, diverse, creative and fearlessly kind. They have consistently pushed Coty forward, adapting to change and bringing our iconic products to
market which empower consumers to create their own unique visions of beauty.’
COTY first started as a vertical manufacturer of fragrances. Does any manufacturing exist today and if so, for which brand(s)?
At Coty, we constantly evolve the way we design, formulate, and manufacture, creating innovative products that delight our consumers. Our manufacturing and R&D capabilities are foundational to driving this success. We operate across eight manufacturing plants and in fact, we operate the largest fragrance manufacturing plant in the world, located in Spain.
As we all know, brands come, and brands go. Which brands from the portfolio have been the most surprising? For instance, which brands are you surprised are as big as they are and which one(s) are you surprised are no longer relevant?
We take pride in our incredibly diverse and balanced portfolio of iconic brands. Across fragrance, color cosmetics, skin and body care, we cater to highly popular market segments including ultra-premium, Premium+, Premium, and Mass. These range from legacy brands like COVERGIRL and Rimmel, to our strong licensed brands including Burberry, Chloe and Marc Jacobs, further bringing to life our mission to create forward-thinking beauty through new, innovative, and science-based products. Coty’s continued success across a balanced portfolio in fragrances, color cosmetics and skincare, demonstrates our expertise as the go-to partner for Fashion
Houses and global brands looking to create leading beauty products. In 2024, we also unveiled Infiniment Coty Paris, our most ambitious fragrance project to date, underpinned by our deep industry heritage, rigorous approach of powering beauty with cutting-edge innovation, and combining art with science. This collection exemplifies our commitment to pushing the industry forward, showcasing how we embrace innovation while maintaining a balanced, futurefocused approach rooted in our heritage.
Is there a brand that you wish you had acquired or signed over the years? If so, which one was it?
Our focus is on cultivating a dynamic broad-based portfolio of owned and licensed brands, enabling us to cater to everevolving consumer preferences across fragrance, color cosmetics, skin and body care. In recent years, we have been particularly successful in growing our entry-
prestige, prestige and ultrapremium fragrances and also prestige make-up lines. In the last 12 months we have significantly extended our license agreements with Hugo Boss, Jil Sander, Davidoff, Marc Jacobs, Adidas, bruno banani and Mexx, as well as signing new long-term agreements with the Italian luxury fashion brands Marni and Etro, as well as LeGer. Our partnerships with Marni and Etro highlight our commitment to collaborating with iconic, forward-thinking brands. Marni, with its creativity and youthful approach to luxury, and Etro, renowned for timeless design and relentless focus on quality, both offer immense potential for creating unique beauty experiences for consumers across the globe. These partnerships will enable us to cement positions in established markets and categories, while actively driving expansion into new opportunities and segments by leveraging Coty’s expertise and global distribution footprint.
Which brand or brands in the portfolio over the 120 years has(have) been or was(were) a “game changer” and why?
It is difficult to single out just one game changer brand in Coty’s portfolio over the years, but a few that stand out today include: Infiniment Coty Paris, Burberry, Calvin Klein, COVERGIRL, Sally Hansen, Marc Jacobs, and Orveda. In fragrances, Infiniment Coty Paris, launched on our 120th anniversary, represents the pinnacle of modern innovation, blending luxury, art, and science with sustainable practices. Burberry Goddess was the biggest fragrance launch in Coty’s history and led the industry’s vanilla fragrance trend. CK One revolutionized the fragrance world in the 90s with its bold unisex approach, and today it continues to innovate with CK One Essence, a fresh take on the original icon. Marc Jacobs’ latest Daisy Wild collection further builds on the success of the iconic Daisy franchise, leading Canada spring fragrance sales. The iconic American brand COVERGIRL’s legacy of clean beauty, exemplified by its Clean Invisible Foundation continues to influence the industry and Yummy Gloss innovation became a cult classic and consumer favourite overnight. Sally Hansen leads the way in nail as the #1 brand in Canada with top shade assortments and leading technology in nail. Ultra-premium green biotech skincare brand Orveda is defining a new skincare vision with its highly concentrated yet gentle formulas that work with the skin, not against it. I could go on, but to me, these brands truly epitomize Coty’s 120-year legacy of pushing boundaries and leading beauty forward.
How has COTY managed to stay relevant for so many years and what will keep it going for the next 120 years?
We’re looking ahead with a bold vision! We’ll continue to push boundaries and embrace new technologies, remaining at the forefront of beauty. Coty’s mission is to unleash every vision of beauty. By continuously challenging the status quo and embracing inclusivity, Coty has remained at the forefront of our industry. For example, we launched our #UndefineBeauty campaign to break free from limiting traditional definitions and to foster an inclusive environment where everyone can express their own vision of beauty. With this campaign, we have made significant pioneering efforts in the industry – and very successfully so. Coty’s petition on change.org to push dictionary publishers toward more inclusive definitions of beauty has reached over 300 million people on social media, sparking a widespread conversation. Celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Vera Wang, and Marc Jacobs have further amplified the impact of this campaign. Looking to the future, Coty’s bold commitment to #UndefineBeauty will continue to guide us, enabling us to thrive for decades to come.
With diversification into cosmetics and skincare, is fragrance still the lead category for COTY today?
Fragrance remains at the heart of Coty’s identity, driving significant growth in both prestige and consumer segments. The fragrance category is continuing to be the fastest growing beauty category. Coty has unrivaled expertise in fragrance, and we have been the trendsetter with blockbuster launches such as Burberry Goddess, which was not only the biggest fragrance launch in Coty’s history, but also the #1 female fragrance launch for the industry and specifically in Canada the #1 launch in the fragrance category for 2023! Coty Canada is proud to be part of the top 10 launches in 2024 that include Cosmic Kylie Jenner, Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild, and Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Elixir. However, as we evolve, we are also strategically expanding our skincare and color cosmetics offerings, ensuring our brand portfolio remains balanced, agile, and dynamic. This approach reflects our broader commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. By diversifying across categories while maintaining our leadership in fragrance, Coty is well-positioned to continue thriving and meeting the evolving needs of beauty consumers worldwide. Beyond categories, we have continued to deliver on our strategy of developing ‘beating hearts’ in global growth engine markets, such as Brazil, the rest of LATAM, Southeast Asia (including India), and Africa. Coty’s balanced portfolio is ideally suited to capturing the attention of consumers and market share in these regions. Our aspirational entry prestige brands such as Kylie Cosmetics, which this year launched in India, Singapore, Middle East and South Africa, has already achieved great success.
What can we expect to see from COTY for the next 120 years?
Over the next 120 years, Coty will continue to push boundaries, blending science-based solutions with a commitment to undefine beauty standards. Our #UndefineBeauty campaign challenges outdated norms, while our fearless kindness remains at the heart of everything we do – fostering innovation and progress through collaboration across the business and with our partners. We are here to unleash every vision of beauty that exists today and will emerge tomorrow. As we expand our global footprint and pioneer new categories, Coty will not just acclimatize to the changing landscape but actively shape it, making a lasting impact on people and the planet.
On September 19, 2024,
Le Centre Mont-Royal in downtown Montreal came to life with a first ever event hosted by Cosmetics Alliance Canada. The Beauty Summit or le Sommet de la Beaute, held its inaugural event that was filled with keynote speakers, presentations, panel groups and brand displays. Three hundred guests filled the centre as they watched and heard from presenters on various topics impacting the cosmetics industry. The agenda included topics on innovation, sustainability, consumer insights, product and ingredient trends,

By The Numbers:
A new milestone has been set!
Total Prestige Beauty sales reached $3.0 billion dollars in Canada year-to-date ending September 2024, grew +6% in dollar sales and +2% based on units sold, compared to the same nine-month period last year. This is the first time the industry hit $3B sales volume in the past 5 years in Canada.
“ “
Although sales performance has softened following the unprecedented, double-digit growth in previous years, as anticipated, all beauty categories continue to post growth as the industry stabilizes.
Alecsandra Hancas, Canadian beauty industry analyst at Circana
Fragrance and Makeup drove dollar sales growth, contributing two-thirds of total beauty gains. Hair – which grew double digits, was the fastest growing category in both dollar and unit demand, contributing a quarter of total gains, while representing only 7% of total sales. Average price continued to grow by +4% vs. last year – but pricing and level of promotion varies by category. Skincare continues to be challenged by lower priced, mid-range and mass brands.

This look, spotted on the runway for Christian Siriano and on Julia Fox, is ideal for a fun night out. “I think we’re seeing a return to bolder looks that make a statement, and nothing says winter chic like the balance of shimmer and shadow,” says celebrity makeup and hair artist Blair Petty. “The glitter adds a touch of brightness that feels festive for the holidays but edgy enough for the runway.”Petty says to start with a creamy eyeshadow base, then layer on a charcoal or espresso eyeshadow, blending it up and out for a smoky effect. For the glitter, he suggests going for a finely milled, high-quality pigment. Apply it to the eyelid using a small brush or your finger for a more intense sparkle, “focusing on the center to add dimension,” Petty says. To make the look last, start with an eyeshadow primer and set the base with translucent powder, use a liquid glitter adhesive and finish with a setting spray.

Blurred Out
This look, also known as the bouche mordue (which translates to bitten mouth), was recently seen on runways for Dior and Ulla Johnson. “This blurry, sheer, matte look gives us a bit of sophistication and playfulness for the winter,” says celebrity makeup and hair artist Alanna Fennell. “Think soft sweaters, cozy fires, red wine, and coming in from the cold (or under the mistletoe) looking perfectly flushed.”Start with exfoliated and hydrated lips—use a moisturizing balm as part of your skin prep. Next, choose a matte lipstick and tap it onto your lips using your finger. For a more dramatic look, Fennell says, tap more colour in the inner part of your bottom lip so it’s opaque. Then, gently press your lips together a few times to transfer the colour to the top lip. Make sure “the colour stays concentrated and doesn’t move out over the entire lip,” Fennell says. As a finishing touch, gently blur and blend the edges with a clean finger or a lip brush, and clean up the shape with concealer or foundation if needed.

Beauty Sleep GET YOUR
Expert advice on how to create the ultimate evening skincare routine
By Lora Grady
There’s nothing like a soothing evening skincare routine to set you up for a good night of sleep. Our skin’s needs vary from season to season, so winter is the perfect time to revisit your bedtime routine. Nighttime skincare is trending right now thanks to the #MorningShed routine, where influencers remove multiple face masks, mouth tape, heatless curlers and other products they use overnight. We love a multi-step routine that promotes self-care, but for those who find it slightly intimidating, it really doesn’t have to be that complicated. A daytime routine is more about protecting and shielding the skin, whereas nighttime care should focus on hydration, correction, rejuvenation, healing and repairing, says Vee Mistry, facialist and founder and CEO of Skin by Vee. “During the night it is when your skin best absorbs ingredients from products,” says Nadia Paglia, Dermalogica’s director of education and flagships. “Your skin enters recovery mode during your sleep and heals your skin from damage it suffered during the day.” When it comes to the necessary steps, cleansing is first up. “Always double cleanse, starting with a balm or oil cleanser, and then moving to your treatment cleanser,” Mistry says, adding that you should wash your face with cold water regardless of the time of year. “The cold really helps calm down any low-level inflammation in the skin,” she explains. Using the SkinByVee Gua Sha Cryo Sticks also helps to soothe inflammation and keeps the face looking sculpted — Mistry uses them at least once a day for three to five minutes.

Certain ingredients are best suited for nighttime use — particularly vitamin A and retinol. (If used in the daytime, Mistry says, these ingredients can cause sun sensitivity and ingredient breakdown.) Those who are prone to acne, or have oily or congested skin can benefit from vitamin A, retinol and other exfoliating pads or serums — just be sure not to use them at the same time. And always remember your SPF in the morning. Mistry recommends exfoliating once a week for those with oily and/or acneprone skin, and twice a month for those with dry, dehydrated and/or mature skin. While vitamin C is a skincare ingredient usually reserved for daytime use, Dermalogica recently released a nighttime formulation. “Nighttime serums are popular because they cater to consumers seeking intensive, restorative skincare,” Paglia says. The formula’s Vitamin C helps fight oxidative stress, free radicals, and boosts skin’s resilience against environmental damage, while the pro-Vitamin D complex supports the skin’s moisture barrier. “We are consistently focusing on innovation and meeting consumer needs, so you will absolutely see more options that benefit nighttime skin repair and targeting specific concerns,” Paglia says. “I personally like to go to bed looking like a glazed donut,” Mistry says. “So I really feed and nourish the skin with hydrating serums and oils.” Another secret she shares with clients is that she applies a face mask formulated for nighttime use every evening. Finally, before hitting the sheets, always use a hydrating cream at the end of you routine, Mistry says, adding that “even the most oily skin types can be dry and dehydrated.”
Last month, the beauty industry came together to celebrate Beauty’s Best People & Products of 2024. It was truly a night to remember. See all the winners and highlights from the event. Join us in celebrating this year’s finalists and winners! Thank you for supporting this wonderful event.

Odette Newton
Odette has worked for over 35 years at Rexall and many years at her current location in the Place D’Orleans Mall. She has excelled at building up a clientele of not just mall shoppers but also the employees who work in the mall. Odette is such a genuine person and is not afraid to show emotion and real empathy. An example of her excellent customer service and empathy would be the time one of her customers developed breast cancer. Odette made it her goal to try to help this customer maintain a positive attitude and try to cheer her up as much as possible. The woman beat her disease but had a very lengthy recovery period. When she came to the store Odette would carry her basket for her and had a chair close by when she felt tired. When she was well on her path of recovery she came back and presented Odette with a beautiful gift basket as a token of her appreciation. Odette feels lucky to be in a position where she can help her “ladies” feel good about themselves through her kindness and expertise, always ensuring everyone can be their best selves.
Celeste is known by her Store Team, Sales Reps, and Customers to be both a sincere and upbeat person. She does not want to see her customers dissatisfied with the products or service and will go to great lengths within her ability to ensure that they remain happy and return for future visits. She understands her diverse market and the demands for the right skin care products for individual reasons and usage.
A specific customer once declared that Celeste “won her over” with her empathy and kind words for her “ordeal”. By the end of her consultation with Celeste, she was satisfied and confident that the problem could be fixed. As a result, the new recommendations and replacement product worked perfectly according to the customer and the customer had nothing but high praise for this Cosmetician. She is in the store often and can be heard telling other shoppers about Celeste’s knowledge of skin care products and great service.

Earlier in 2024, Parnia was faced was an extremely difficult situation that was by no means comfortable for anyone that day. A customer she was helping couldn’t find her child in the store and it was Parnia’s quick thinking as a new rookie to the team to call for a code yellow on the intercom that made the difference that day!
The incident truly showcases Parnia’s outstanding customer service skills, even as a relatively new member of the team. Her ability to remain calm and take immediate, decisive action in a crisis situation is truly remarkable. And her empathetic, supportive approach towards the distressed customer demonstrates an exceptional level of emotional intelligence. Despite her “rookie” status, Parnia’s superior performance in this high-pressure scenario is a testament to her natural talent for providing exemplary customer care.
That day, Parnia not only showed her talent as “rookie” but also as “hero” by creating a safe environment in the workplace.

L’Organiq Ltd. Expands into Canada: Overcoming Regulatory Hurdles with Innovation
After finding success in the UK, L’ORGANIQ Ltd., an award-winning European beauty brand known for its sustainable, natural products, is expanding into Canada. We sat down with the brand’s owner, Emma Chevrel, to discuss the obstacles she has faced during the expansion and how Quebec’s Bill 96 has impacted her efforts.
Adapting to Bill 96: Meeting Bilingual Requirements
One of the biggest challenges Emma encountered was reworking her product labels and packaging to comply with the expanded requirements of Quebec’s Bill 96. Although packaging in both English and French was already mandatory, the new law introduced stricter regulations, including specific rules regarding trademarks. “We had to redesign every single label and secondary packaging box,” Emma shared. “From product descriptions to application instructions, everything needed to meet the updated requirements. It wasn’t an easy task, but we knew
it was necessary to make our products available in Quebec.” However, Emma’s experience in Europe, where labeling regulations are already quite stringent, gave her a leg up in managing the transition. “Europe’s requirements are similar in many ways, so we were prepared for the complexity,” she said.
Using QR Codes to Simplify Labeling
A key feature of L’ORGANIQ’s European success has been its use of new QR codes on all product packaging. In Europe, QR codes allow brands to include more information about products, like extended ingredient lists, sustainability details
and predominantly recycling instructions, without overcrowding labels. Emma has embraced this technology as a solution to simplify the process and keep consumers informed.
Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.
schoenanthus oil, Citral,
grandis peel oil, Cymbopogen
sempervirens leaf oil, Citrus
medica limonum (Lemon) peel oil, Salvia sclarea oil, Cupressus
Communis fruit oil, Citrus
“QR codes make everything easier,” Emma explained. “They allow me to provide more information without having to redesign labels every time we need to update something. While Canada doesn’t have a QR code system in place yet, we still use it to give customers access to more detailed product information.”
acid, Sodium benzoate and Potassium sorbate, Juniperus
betaine, Phenoxyethanol, Citric
glucoside, Cocamidopropyl
gum, Vegetable glycerin, Quillaja saponaria (Soap bark extract), Caprylyl / caprylyl
Vera leaf powder), Xanthan
Although Canadian regulations still require that all essential information appear directly on the packaging, except in the case of small packaging, Emma believes QR codes offer an added benefit to Canadian consumers by giving them easy access to additional content, including ingredient breakdown and product usage tips. It also affords the consumer the option to read these instructions in their chosen language.

Becoming a Member of Cosmetics Alliance
To ensure L’ORGANIQ stays on top of evolving regulatory issues and remains connected to the industry, the company recently became a member of Cosmetics Alliance Canada. “Being part of
Cosmetics Alliance has been invaluable. It helps us stay up to date with Canadian regulations and connect with key industry players,” Emma said. By leveraging the association’s resources, L’ORGANIQ aims to navigate the complex Canadian regulatory landscape with greater confidence.
Finding the Right Distribution Partners
As L’ORGANIQ prepares to make its debut in Canada, Emma is actively seeking retail and distribution partners that align with the brand’s values. “We’re looking for retailers who understand the importance of sustainability and ethical production,” she explained. “It’s important for us to work with partners who reflect our ethos and commitment to quality and environmental responsibility.”
Looking Ahead
Emma’s focus on innovation, from QR codes to sustainable packaging, highlights how small businesses can overcome regulatory obstacles and adapt to new markets. As L’ORGANIQ grows in Canada, it’s not just about expansion—it’s about bringing their eco-conscious values to new consumers.

Take on breakouts and hyperpigmentation with exfoliating azelaic acid
By Lora Grady
Zits happen, whether you’re a pre-teen or entering your golden years. Dealing with pimples, and the hyperpigmentation they can cause, can be tricky — some ingredients may be too harsh for some skin types. Enter azelaic acid. The naturally occurring acid, found in grains such as rye, barley, and wheat, helps treat acne and discolouration. Azelaic acid helps with discoluration that is red-toned or brown-toned by blocking inflammation around hair follicles and modifying skin cell turnover, says Dr. Renée A. Beach, dermatologist and founder of Toronto’s DermAtelier on Avenue. It also “stops bacterial proliferation (including C. acnes, the main bacterium involved in pimples acne), and blocks formation of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which is involved in making skin oily and forming hormonally driven acne flare-ups.” Reducing inflammation can result in decreasing the size of acne lesions and limiting redness, Dr. Beach says. After four to six months of use, azelaic acid can reduce the look of
dark spots. (It’s important to wear tinted sunscreen with iron dioxides, too, in order to prevent further discolouration.)
Dr. Bimpe Ayeni, founder of Blair&Jack skincare, harnessed the power of azelaic acid for the brand’s Anti-Bump Treatment. “I chose it because it is such an OG in the skincare world,” she says. “The issue with bumps is irritation, inflammation, bacteria and the resulting hyperpigmentation. Azelaic acid addresses each of these. It unclogs pores, fades dark marks and bumps, and its antioxidant properties allow skin to appear smoother.”
Skin that is prone to flushing or hyperpigmentation changes would benefit from azelaic acid, says Dr. Beach, though it can cause irritation. Those with dry and/or sensitive skin may want to limit their use, or apply a rich moisturizer as a base underneath. Azelaic acid is also safe for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It can be used both day and night for best results, Dr. Beach says.

The Self Care & Beauty Retailer of the Future
By: Frank Turco
In early 2023, I had the opportunity to connect with Christopher Novak, President and Chief Creative Officer of Rennaï. At the time, Rennaï was a concept and strategy forming into something spectacular for the Cosmetics industry in Canada. Fast forward a year and the 36,000ft2 Rennaï store in Royalmount is now open and it is true to form and spectacular! Rennaï is more than a store but an incredible experience into beauty that includes a masterful curated assortment of products and brands; state of the art brand installations and fixtures and a staff that is top notch. I sat down with Christopher Novak recently to discuss the journey to opening.
What has been the biggest challenge and best reward since the opening?
The biggest challenge has been translating our ambitious vision for Rennaï into a tangible reality, building every aspect from the ground up. The greatest reward has been witnessing the excitement and anticipation from our customers. Their enthusiasm validates our belief that Rennaï fills a unique need in the market.
How important was it to stay true to the original strategy and concept?
We have always believed deeply in our vision, and our original strategy remains true to its origin. As we’ve developed and reflected on the competitive landscape, our confidence in what we offer has grown stronger. Our store layout, merchandising, product mix, and brand
integration have all been carefully designed to reflect this vision, and we’ve made thoughtful adjustments along the way to optimize the shopping experience while staying firmly rooted in our planned principles.
Did anything change or did you have to pivot along the journey to opening?
As we’ve evolved, we’ve deepened our commitment to creating content and conversations that are fact-based, inclusive, and uplifting. Social media is an important medium, and we see an opportunity to inspire and educate people on their self-care journey. Our goal is to make Rennaï a place where everyone feels they belong.
What has been the reaction of brands since opening?
We have received tremendous support from our brand partners, who have fully embraced our vision. It’s
been incredibly rewarding to realize that our goals are aligned—we’re all working toward the same mission. Our partners see the value in creating a trusted, authentic space for self-care, and together, we’re striving for collective success
What have you seen and learned about your customers to date?

aligns with the experience we aimed to create. Initial comments highlight that Rennaï offers a refreshing and welcoming atmosphere in the store. Customers have also appreciated our thoughtfully curated product and brand mix, which reflects our commitment to personalized selfcare. Additionally, our online content has received positive reactions for an inclusive and informative approach, helping to extend the Rennaï experience beyond the physical store. This type of encouraging guest feedback – with many expressing they feel seen and cared for sets Rennaï apart from other retail experiences and motivates our team to keep refining and enhancing what we offer. As we continue to grow, we’re eager to hear more from our customers and implement their insights to further elevate the Rennaï experience, both in-store and online.

What has creation of Rennaï meant for you?
The challenges and hard work involved in bringing Rennaï to life have been immensely fulfilling. I’ve learned that difficulties are not obstacles but opportunities for growth, reflection, and improvement. While daily challenges have kept me up at night, they’ve also fueled my energy and focus on continuously elevating Rennaï to the high standards we’ve set. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished, but more than anything, I’m excited for the growth and innovation that lies ahead.
What is the outlook on future store openings?
For future store openings, we will refine our designs based on the valuable feedback we receive from our customers. Listening to this community and understanding their needs is at the core of our approach. While we evolve and adapt our retail experience, we will always maintain the core elements that define the Rennaï brand. We are currently exploring potential locations and are excited to share more details as the plans unfold.
How will you measuring success?
Success will be measured through a balanced approach between sales results and continuous consumer feedback. While profitability is a key focus, our ambition is also to see consistent growth in our customer base, positive reviews that reflect genuine satisfaction, and a robust presence within the community that underscores our commitment to long-term success.
What more can we or should we expect to see from Rennaï?
Beyond opening new locations, we’re excited about the future of Rennaï and the opportunity to reveal exciting partnerships that align with our ethos of personalized self-care. Our services will continue to evolve as we expand into areas like wellness workshops and more tailored skincare consultations. We’re committed to staying ahead of the curve and continually enhancing what Rennaï offers, ensuring we always meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.

Innovation, Rebranding, and Transformation are at the heart of
The year 2024 marked an important milestone in EcoMundo’s journey. It was this year that Eco Mundo ventured into a rebranding strategy, which reflects not just a visual change but an evolution of their identity, values, and vision.
Founded in 2007, EcoMundo has been committed to simplifying global compliance across industries such as cosmetics, chemicals, and biocides. Central to this mission is their unwavering focus on protecting human health and the environment—the goal of all chemical regulations. Today, this mission continues with a renewed focus on innovation and collaboration, signaling the dawn of a
Global Journey
It all began in 2007, when Pierre Garçon identified a unique opportunity: to bridge the gap between industrial needs and environmental concerns. His participation in major European projects like REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) gave him the clarity
environment.
Pierre’s vision culminated in the creation of EcoMundo—a name that reflects both ecological responsibility and a global outlook. “Eco” symbolizes ecological design, a core principle of the company’s early mission, while “Mundo” meaning “world” in Spanish, encapsulates the global ambition that Pierre set for the company from the very start.
Expanding Horizons: From Cosmetics to Chemicals, EcoMundo’s Ever-Growing Expertise
EcoMundo has since evolved into a trusted partner for companies across multiple sectors. From cosmetic regulations to biocidal products, industrial chemicals, and food supplements, EcoMundo supports businesses in navigating the complex web of regulations that govern their industries. Their services span regulatory consulting, product safety, and compliance management, helping clients bring their products to market while adhering to global safety standards. EcoMundo offers tailored solutions that address the unique challenges of each industry—all with the goal of ensuring both human and environmental protection.
The Evolution of Our Brand: A New Chapter for EcoMundo
Today, EcoMundo has grown far beyond its original scope. EcoMundo became part of Lisam Systems, further expanding their capabilities to provide world-class compliance solutions.
The rebranding of EcoMundo is more than just a visual shift—it’s a reflection of their transformation into a global leader. With this new look, it was so long to their beloved mascot, Gilbert the polar bear, who has been a symbolic figure of our environmental commitment for many years.
While Gilbert’s presence was a reminder of the importance of protecting nature, the new brand identity is built around sophisticated and streamlined design elements that reflect the company’s maturity and evolution.
• The new branding features rounded hexagons, an elegant representation of molecular structures, symbolizing the interconnectedness of science, technology, and regulation. The shapes highlight EcoMundo’s expertise across industries and the holistic approach to compliance.
• The sleek color palette and modern typography embody the clarity, precision, and expertise we bring to their work, while the organic forms reflect their ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and protecting both human health and the environment.
EcoMundo’s new look embodies our core values of Excellence, Engagement, and Trust—principles that have driven the organization from the very beginning. These values ensure they consistently deliver expert-led, reliable solutions that inspire confidence in all clients
EcoMundo’s Mission and Vision for a Safer Future
At EcoMundo, their mission is clear: to empower industry professionals worldwide through ethical and effective regulatory compliance. But their vision reaches further—to contribute to a world where human health is safeguarded, and the environment is preserved for future generations. This longterm vision drives everything they do, from cosmetic regulations to chemical safety management, with the ultimate goal of protecting both people and the planet.

Q : Vous semblez bien travailler ensemble.
