Cheryl Tweedy was born in Newcastle-uponTyne, England and lived in a suburb called Heaton. She is one of five children – one younger brother, Garry, and two half-brothers – Andrew and Joseph, and one half-sister Gillian. In addition to dancing, Cheryl won many modelling competitions, including Boots Group’s bonniest baby, Mothercare Happy Faces Portrait competition, Best Looking Girl of Newcastle, The Evening Chronicle ‘Little Miss & Mister’ and Most Attractive Girl at the MetroCentre. She also appeared in two British Gas adverts, an SCS advert, and an Eldon Square Christmas advert with younger brother Garry. Interested in dancing from an early age, Cole joined the Royal Ballet’s summer school at the age of nine. She sang, modelled and appeared in recitals on some television shows. In 2008, Cole was voted number 7 in FHM’s 100 sexiest women 2008 poll. In February 2009, Cole appeared on the cover of British Vogue. Cheryl auditioned for Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, singing S Club 7’s “Have You Ever”. She was the first person to be chosen for Girls Aloud which has gone on to be one of the most successful British pop groups of the decade. The X Factor presenter is to leave her husband, the footballer Ashley Cole as speculation has continued to rage around the couple since fresh allegations of her husband’s infidelity came to light early this year.

"I just wanted to clear up the stories about whether I am wearing my wedding ring in my own words as this has been going on for too long and is getting boring. It is not some silly game I am playing. That is not me and not my style. There have been many occasions where I have not worn my wedding ring, many of those when I was pictured with Ashley. I find it crazy that people would think I use this as some sort of msg. Believe it or not Ashley is fully aware of any situation going on in our personal lives. The X Factor star, who has been left devastated by the Chelsea football star’s string of betrayals, has called time on her three-and-ahalf-year marriage. It has also emerged that Cheryl Cole is to publish her first official book. The book – called Cheryl Cole: My World – will reveal ‘intimate’ photographs of her life. Publishers are declining to label it an autobiography but Mrs Cole will be writing ‘substantial’ amounts of text to accompany the photographs. The book – labelled the ‘first official Cheryl Cole book’ – will come out on September 30 and promises to be a ‘lavishly illustrated’ hardback, according to publishers. The announcement of the deal comes just weeks after book publishers were offering up to £5million for Mrs Cole’s autobiography after a bidding war broke out.
However, publishers Transworld refused to say how much they had paid for the rights to My World. The book will chronicle the 26-year-old singer’s rise from a wannabe appearing on ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals to her role as a judge on the X Factor and her chart-topping solo pop career. According to the publishers, it will be ‘packed full of previously unseen photographs from Cheryl’s own personal collection of favourites, together with dozens of stunning and exclusive new images.’ Asked whether pictures of Cole’s husband will be among them, a Transworld spokesman simply said My World will feature ‘all aspects’ of her life, before adding that Cole is currently making her photograph selection. Mrs Cole, meanwhile, said: ‘I think looking at pictures is a bit like listening to music – it
reminds you of what was happening and how you were feeling at certain times in your life.' ‘Sometimes I look at old pictures and I can’t believe that was me. ‘I think we all do that. I went through a phase of being a bit tomboyish when I loved trainers and Timberland boots and baggy trousers. ‘I had pink streaks in my hair at one point but I was experimenting and, at the time, I liked it. ‘I can look at photos and straight away they’ll bring back loads of memories. ‘That’s really why I wanted to do this book, so I could choose pictures that mean something to me and tell the stories that go with them.’

European Volcano Chaos From an image of hell to a white fluffy-topped mountain: Do these pictures prove the volcano really IS calming down?
But it was not shooting ash and smoke high into the atmosphere like it did previously. With fire, lightning and 1,250C lava spitting out from its core, it presented a far more violent image to the world.
Barely a few weeks ago it was shooting ash and smoke four to six miles into the air in a plume of thick, black clouds.
Dust particles were shot up into the skies above and drifted down over the Atlantic, closing vast swathes of European airspace.
But these most recent images suggest the Icelandic volcano that brought chaos to British and European airports has entered a different stage. Don’t be fooled by the chocolate-box image of white, fluffy clouds. The Eyjafjallajokull volcano remains very much active and was throwing magma chunks the size of cars into the air, bubbling lava and producing tremors.
Lightning, caused by collisions of volcanic dust, is seen forking from the lava and ash erupting from the centre of the volcano, as thick black smoke up to six miles high is thrown into the atmosphere.

The volcano has now simmered to 80 per cent of its intensity, but scientists are warning that earth tremors could cause an even larger eruption at a neighbouring crater.
This means it has more than twice the amount of ice than the current eruption has burned through, threatening a new and possibly longer aviation standstill across Europe.
An eruption at the Katla volcano would be ten times stronger and shoot higher and larger plumes of ash into the air than its smaller neighbour.
Katla showed no signs of activity, according to scientists who monitor it with seismic sensors, but they were still wary. Pall Einarsson, professor of geophysics at the Institute of Earth Sciences at the University of Iceland, said one volcanic eruption sometimes caused a nearby volcano to explode, and Katla and Eyjafjallajokull have been active in tandem in the past.
The crucible of the volcano appears calmer, but appearances can be deceptive... it was still throwing magma chunks the size of cars into the air, bubbling lava and producing tremors. The two volcanoes are side by side in southern Iceland, about 12 miles apart, and thought to be connected by a network of magma channels. Katla is buried under one of Iceland’s largest glaciers, the Myrdalsjokull, which is 500m deep.
White smoke, instead of a thick black plume, now rises from the volcano as the lava bubbles away beneath. Michael O’Leary, the chief executive of the low-cost carrier Ryanair, said it was “absurd” that his firm had to spend thousands of euros on someone whose ticket might have cost only a few euros. Mr O’Leary said Ryanair would only reimburse travellers the original price of their airfare and no more, potentially setting up a clash with Ireland’s Commission for Aviation Regulation and the EU.

The European decision to partially reopen airspace did not come until the fifth day of the crisis, when transport ministers met by teleconference. The UK Transport Secretary, Lord Adonis, said international safety regulators had been too cautious in their handling of the crisis.
