At MindMath our educational philosophy is based on Understanding. Systems. Thinking.
We attempt to achieve these by asking the following questions at regular intervals:
What parts of the “seed” can we transform? A seed amazingly waits for years for the right conditions to germinate and turn into a tree. Metaphorically a seed is the inside of each student. This mainly consists of
The first thing we do in MindMath is to decide on the student’s vision, his/her main goal and the specific academic objectives.
Learning Habits Beliefs Skills Knowledge Self-esteem and self-trust Ability to focus attention and time
By regularly asking specific questions on the matters above we discover what parts of the seed could improve the academic success of the student.
What parts of the “soil” can we transform?
Evidence Procedure
Soil is the outside of the student. It consists of his/her environment but also the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of the people around him/her.
Well, we use SMART goals. These goals are:
Controlling the parts of the soil is much harder than the seed. Nevertheless, at MindMath we do our best in finding answers to the following questions: Is your workspace destruction proof? Do you have friends or relatives that you can talk to when you need emotional support? What are the family rules regarding learning? What is your close friends’ life vision?
How do we know that our students actually work effectively and efficiently? How do we know that the system works?
Specific & Measurable: A goal which both specific and measurable has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a general goal. Examples of specific and measurable goals are: Get an A* in GCE A Level Maths next may Get 90% in all my Maths tests at school throughout the year. Attainable & Realistic: Is the goal achievable? Is the grade A* feasible? Is it able to be attained? What does his/her academic history suggest? Timely: A goal should be grounded within a time frame. With no time frame tied to it there is no sense of urgency.
Feedback Feedback is like the speedometer in a car. If we would like to reach Limassol by 6 p.m. tonight, then the speedometer will indicate whether we will eventually arrive timely at the destination.
Feedback allows our students to grow. If the information which goes back is able to change
the pattern of behavior afterwards, then learning has occurred. Examples of academic “speedometers” that we use are the following:
This is the last and maybe the most important part of our system. The domino effect is all about focusing on the conditions that will guarantee the goal is achieved and basing your action plan around creating those conditions.
Homework done properly and on time Weekly diagnostics/ tests Monthly exams Class participation
Interaction
In other words, we make sure that our students have a huge incentive to stick to the plan. This makes the outcome inevitable.
A good teacher provides accountability and this is what we are constantly trying to achieve. We feel that it is our responsibility that students take responsibility!

Sometimes, students cannot only lose motivation; they could just plain give up. It’s maybe because they have lost interest or they are not seeing the results they have expected. Thus, they no longer care. Consequently, they skip homework or they may tend to skip revision for test. But if there is someone there to hold them accountable, it wouldn’t be so easy for them to give up. That’s because a teacher (similar to a personal trainer) monitors their progress and push their limits if necessary.

If students know that someone expects them to be punctual, self-disciplined, and hard-working then a great majority of them will make sure that they complete their day to day work.
