Sunday – October, 29 9:30 am – 7:00 pm CULTURAL SESSION I The cultural session will start with a meeting in Ribeira at 10 am or 9:30 am in Hotel Vila Velha at Av. Sete de Setembro, 1971 - Corredor da Vitória. Salvador – BA. Phone: +55 71 3617-8722. The city of Salvador is located on a huge bay, a Baía de Todos os Santos (the Bay of All Saints), and the topography is predominantly hill and valley. It's for this reason that people speak of a cidade alta (upper city) and cidade baixa (lower city). Both are connected on the bay side by the famous Elevador Lacerda, a "marvel" hailed mightily in most guidebooks. The elevator does beat walking up down the steeply inclining streets, which serve the same function of connection. Its Central streets take tourists back to the beginnings of Brazil. The tour begins at the Barra Lighthouse, passes the Teatro Castro Alves, home to the Bahian Symphony Orchestra and on to the Balé (ballet) de Castro Alves. The Forte de São Pedro and Praça Castro Alves are on route to the Historical Center of Pelourinho, which offers something to see along every street. Its more than a thousand houses, churches and monuments built since the 16th century, Salvador makes up the greatest collection of Baroque architectural heritage in Latin America. Let’s spend a nice day visiting some of the best sights of the city and gather with colleagues and new friends!
We will meet at 10 a.m. in Ribeira, then we will take a city tour. Return from Itapoan for Hotel São Salvador at 7 pm. 9:30 am leaving from Hotel Vila Velha to Ribeira – have an ice-cream, Humaitá, Solar do Unhão – take picture, Mercado Modelo - Lunch , Pelourinho, Campo Grande, Barra - for a sea bath, sun set at 5:24pm, Itapoan – eat Acarajé da Cira and back to Hotel Vila Velha at 7:00 pm. PLENARIES SESSION INTERACTIVE EDUCATION AS A TOOL TO FORM A CREATIVE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SOCIETY Claudio R Brito, Melany M Ciampi, Victor A Barros The congress provides an important opportunity for professionals from across the world to come together and develop their knowledge, skills and contacts in one of the most enchanting and culturally rich cities of world, Salvador, Bahia in Brazil. The theme of this congress edition is “Interactive Education as a Tool to form a Creative and Entrepreneurship Society”. ICECE2017 has the objective to provide a high level forum for experts to discuss both common and critical advancements in order to meet the growing needs in the communication and arts fields, and exchange new ideas and experiences. ICECE2017 is organized by the Science and Education Research Council (COPEC) with the Cultural Support of TIPEMSE Research Team and the host Institution is the State University of Bahia (UNEB). This paper aims to describe the evolution of ICECE recognized as a global congress. TECHNOLAB™ - AUGMENTING “HANDS ON” WITH ADAPTIVE ON-LINE LEARNING Nicholas Haritos The author has been developing TechnoLab™ - an innovative experiential teaching platform embracing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) concepts, for the past three years. Whilst this platform principally offers classroom bundles of hardware for an enhanced “hands on” learning experience in Statics, Mechanics and Dynamics, use of this hardware can also be “blended” with an on-line based adaptive learning system to further enhance the potential to enrich the learning experience of engineering students following these subjects in a balanced economical way. This paper discusses how the Smart Sparrow adaptive learning system is being used by TechnoLab™ to achieve this balance. ENGLISH TECHNICAL SESSION ASSESSING M-LEARNING ADOPTION IN SECONDARY EDUCATION Muasaad Alrasheedi, Luiz Fernando Capretz An m-Learning Maturity Model (MLMM) was developed based on Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for assessing the mobile technology adoption rates in universities and higher educational institutes. MLMM is derived from the Capability Maturity Model (CMM). Five levels of m-learning maturity are defined in the proposed model including preliminary, established, defined, structured, and continuous improvement. Each of these maturity levels is gauged through nine CSFs in assessment questionnaire. The CSFs used in measuring instrument of the proposed MLMM are adopted from three of © 2017 COPEC

our previous empirical studies. Using an assessment questionnaire and a rating methodology, this research replicates the model to two universities to gauge their level of m-Learning adoption. Although the model has certain limitations in terms of omitting factors, such as cultural influences on m-Learning adoption, the included CSFs have been validated by earlier empirical research. Hence the model provides a comprehensive approach, while opening new areas of future research. TECHNOLAB MECHANICS AND DYNAMICS TEACHING PLATFORM – STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND DISCOVERY THROUGH PHYSICAL INTERACTION Nicholas Haritos Over the past 2-3 years, the author has been developing an innovative “hands on” teaching platform that incorporates STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) concepts, that’s named TechnoLab™. This platform makes use of versatile Pixi Frames™ that enable a range of Basic Statics, Mechanics and Dynamics experiment kits to be mounted on them. This ability provides an enhanced “hands-on” learning experience, through “guided” discovery of the lesson features being addressed in this system, and the introduction of a number of innovations not seen in the larger frames from international manufacturers, which frames tend to be suited for demonstration purposes only. The TechnoLab™ teaching platform enables interaction at a number of levels in the performance of the experiments purpose-developed for this platform in classroom kits, eg student work in pairs and make use of a Window Frame and/or computer prediction (graphical) result on a screen to compare experiment with theory; results for experiments for different sets of parameters/experiment conditions on each frame are shared for the class as a whole. This paper will highlight some of the distinguishing features of the TechnoLab™ teaching platform that set it apart from those developed by others, especially in terms of student engagement and interaction. OBJETOS DE APRENDIZAGEM NO ENSINO DE PROCESSAMENTO DIGITAL DE IMAGENS Jonas Onias, Maria Marietto, João Ferreira, Wagner Botelho, Edson Pimentel Nowadays, the Digital Image Processing (DIP) area plays a fundamental role in a scenario in which smartphones unlock themselves with the simple use of a camera for the identification of people, and thinking forward, when robots will be able to interact with humans in a more natural way. Considering this trend of using the DIP area in most of the computational interfaces, this work aims to create Learning Objects (LO) that will aid in the educational process of the DIP area. It is worth emphasizing the following contributions of this work: (i) The LOs developed in this research can be used in the elaboration of classes related to the content of DIP, (ii) LOs will be easily accessible to students, being able to be used in any personal microcomputer. © 2017 COPEC
