IN OUR COMMUNITY
Thank You: A Message from OhioHealth Thank you. Two small words. Words you say over and over again, from week to week, to people you see or interact with. At a restaurant, in the grocery line, to a family member, to a coworker, thank you. But for the last nearly year and a half, thank you just doesn’t seem like it goes far enough. As the president of OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital, I have had a front row seat to the most heartbreaking and heartwarming days during this COVID-19 pandemic. I have seen a Delaware County community hurting, getting sick, in some cases dying, in many cases getting better, rallying around each other, working hard, harder than ever, and doing so much for so many. At Grady Memorial, our physician offices, OhioHealth Lewis Center Emergency Department, and the Delaware Medical Campus, it has truly been nothing short of amazing to see our teams do what they do best. They show up ready to make a difference. They put our patients, their families, and each other first, and themselves after. During COVID-19, they worked long hours, they sacrificed. They missed time with their families, their
friends. They showed up early and stayed late. They held hands of very sick patients; and supported families as they lost loved ones. They helped get video calls set when visitors couldn’t come to the hospital. They have supported each other, each day, without hesitation. They don’t ask, why are we doing this? They instead say, what more can I do? I am lucky, our health system is lucky, and our community is lucky, to have the dedication and compassion of our professional caregivers. How is thank you enough? To our community, the wonderful Delaware County, I am in awe of the strength and support you have shown our teams, and each other. While so many of you were forced to stay away from those closest to you, you still wanted to support our front lines and staff. You sent cards, gift cards, bought food, sent videos, posted support online, and never stopped showing up for us. All of this, while worried about this deadly disease. You masked up when it was time, you socially distanced. You got vaccinated when it was your turn. You supported your teachers. You ordered food from local restaurants, you shopped with retailers. You made other counties step back and
say, “Did you see what good news is coming from Delaware County?” We have police, EMS, and firefighters, construction workers, financial institutions, city and county employees, grocery store workers, and so many more who pushed through a scary time, because the work had to be done. We have seen the work of SourcePoint continuing to serve the residents of Delaware County. Delivering meals and critical aging services, to enhance the wellness journey alongside what we are doing at OhioHealth. How is thank you enough? We are still not fully out of the COVID-19 world. It’s looking better each day. Fully vaccinated individuals can see their loved ones, their friends, and masks are coming off. One thing I know for certain, and that is saying something after so many months of uncertainty—this community is special. And while thank you might not be enough for all that you’ve done, I hope you know that when I say it, from the bottom of my heart, I do not take for granted what those two words mean, especially now. Thank you, for everything. Steve Bunyard is the president of OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital and OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital. OhioHealth has been SourcePoint's health and wellness partner since 2014.
