MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION ROLLS AGAIN! As of this writing, SourcePoint's Medical Transportation program is set to return in early April. This volunteer-based program provides rides to medical appointments (including vaccinations!) for seniors with limited means of transportation. How can we do this safely? With a few program tweaks:

♦ Clients will ride in the back seat of the volunteers' vehicle ♦ Volunteers and clients must meet COVID exposure/symptom requirements before each transport ♦ SourcePoint will provide volunteers with a supply kit including compliant masks and disinfectant materials ♦ Volunteers will disinfect the vehicle immediately prior to and following a transport ♦ Both clients and volunteers will wear masks throughout the transport ♦ Volunteers are encouraged to wait outside the building during medical appointments as appropriate/practical ♦ Returning volunteers will complete an additional training module prior to active duty Please note, neither volunteers nor clients are required to be vaccinated to participate in this program. Welcome back, Medical Transportation volunteers! You were missed.

Per Source PHONE (714) 5553285 Point's insurance policy, This card must be carried in the vehi cle at all times as evidence of insurance. we are required to demonstrate that our volunteer drivers are staying compliant with auto insurance coverage. During the pandemic, the auto reminder emails were shut off - just one too many things to worry about. It is time to get caught up, so they are coming back!

Meal drivers being signed in via a tablet has created some new challenges on the back end, where service hours and mileage data are collected. Here are some tips to make sure we enter the right data: • If you split a route with another driver (alternating weeks, for example) be sure to identify yourself to the tablet holder, in case the incorrect driver is listed on the schedule. • For non-married delivery partners, it is helpful if the route sheet is signed by the driver. If there is a question of who to credit with mileage, the route sheet can be consulted to see who drove. • When no mileage is indicated, the volunteer is credited with the standard mileage for that route. Indicating actual mileage on the route sheet is helpful.

Dear Volunteers, Every April, we reflect on the selfless service we see here at SourcePoint (try saying that five times fast!) In March of 2020, I reluctantly called the banquet hall to cancel our annual !volunteer appreciation dinner. I consoled the event coordinator with, "Don't worry, we'll reschedule in July" Right, well. ..it was unimaginable then that a second April would pass without our special dinner. Despite the closing of the Enrichment Center and the shutdown of volunteer-based services such as medical transportation, caregiver relief, insurance classes, and community cafes - not to mention heavy losses of volunteers in meal delivery and the kitchen - our volunteer program has carried on. Since the shutdown, new and continuing volunteers have logged over 30,000 hours while keeping nutrition, deliveries, and home chores (exterior only) up and running. In addition, home-based volunteers have handled administrative tasks, bagged pet food, and created birthday cards. New assignments have popped up like Care Package Deliveries, Birthday Deliveries, and MOW Attendants (aka - packers and runners.) You are the reason senior services are thriving in Delaware County, at possibly the most crucial time in any of our memories. You are the reason homebound seniors did not have to risk trips to crowded grocery stores, only to find empty shelves. You are the reason family members could continue with jobs and hybrid school duties without worry that their senior loved ones were not looked after. You are the reason long days of isolation were broken up with a wave and smiling eyes. Because you packed food, loaded food, delivered food or liquid nutrition, raked leaves, made cards, delivered cheerful packages, repackaged pet food, and keep pace with administrative tasks, SourcePoint has lived up to its mission even in the worst of times.
